The hotel

Mango Bay is in a great location on a beautiful beach on the west coast. We love it because it's a small, friendly hotel that exudes bajan charm. From outside dining under the stars to traditional English afternoon tea, this hotel is ideal if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. The restaurants, bars and boutiques of fashionable Holetown St. James, along with the Limegrove Lifestyle complex, are just footsteps away - and the complimentary catamaran cruise allows you to explore even more that the island has to offer.

Just back from a week at Mango Bay.  We had a good time, overall but we felt the following might be useful to others looking at booking. Plus points Most staff are very friendly, welcoming and go above and beyond. The hotel is spotlessly clean, air con in bedrooms is superb and the beds are very comfortable (if you like a firm mattress). Beautiful clean beach which slopes steeply to the water. People with limited mobility may struggle to climb back up the sand bank though. Great location for Holetown, Chattel Village and Massey supermarket. All a 5 minute walk away. Talking to other guests it became apparent this is a hotel that people return to year after year (some for 40 years!) The guest base is mature, no getting away from that. It doesn't feel like a young person's resort and children would likely be bored as there is nothing for them other than the beach and a few random toys in the pool. It is an all inclusive resort but not a traditional buffet. Lunch and Dinner are generally from a fixed menu via table service with the odd buffet lunch / dinner duting the week. Food quality is fair although in the heat things like soup and lamb stew aren't appetising.  As a Coeliac I had no issues eating safely. The catering team really looked after me. There is Wifi available in public areas only but some rooms have boosters so you might get lucky Less than plus points Mango Bay hotel is often described as tired.  I'm sorry to say, it is heading towards totally exhausted. Significant investment is required sooner rather than later. The pool has tiles missing, rooms are very worn. Maintenance were constantly painting during our stay, but it's a small plaster on a major wound.  Standard rooms in the old block have no lift, the open walkway to them overlooks the hotel maintenance yard which can be noisy when the team are grinding or hammering.  This walkway also faces First Street where The One Love bar hosts it's Karaoke street party on Sunday nights. Its very, very loud. Nothing the hotel can do. Take ear plugs. If you pay extra and book a ground floor beach front or pool room you may find that there are other people's sunbeds outside your terrace. When the hotel is full you may find there are insufficient cushions for all the sunbeds and the restaurant becomes overwhelmed. Lunch and Dinner is served in pre booked time slots that have to be chosen at breakfast time.  If the hotel is full you may not get the time you want.  This was irritating as we found ourselves clock watching to ensure we got off the beach to meet our slot, rather than relaxing. If you have dietary requirements you have to choose your lunch and dinner at breakfast so the kitchen can prepare them. There are only 2 public toilets for each gender, situated up by reception.  If you need the toilet whilst by the beach or pool you may be quicker going back to your room.  There is also only 1 shower in each of these toilets so anyone staying on after check out (for a late flight) be aware of this if you want to freshen up before you leave. There may be a fight for the shower.  We mentioned this on our check out and were told if there were any spare rooms they would be used and time slots allocated.  In reality the one spare room was given to 1 family and we had to use the public shower. If youre unlucky enough to get Room 403 the toilet rocks, the patio doors dont shut and there is only 1 free socket so you will need an extension bank from the front desk. TV reception was not great. There is 24/7 construction work going on at The Royalton Vessence Hotel next door, but this is due to open on 1 June 2026. Tips 1. Don't book trips through the hotel, research your own. You will get more choice and much better value. 2. Spend a bit more and don't book standard rooms. 3. If you have to book a standard room,  take ear plugs. 4. Take your own insulated drinks bottle if you want water / drinks on the beach. Drinks are served in small plastic cups and its a drag continually going to and from the bar. Read less

⭐ Guest Review for Mango Bay Hotel My stay at Mango Bay Hotel exceeded every expectation. From arrival to departure, the hospitality was truly 5‑star in every way. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful — they welcome guests like family, and that warmth sets the tone for the entire visit. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The food is excellent, with a mix of à la carte menus and the occasional buffet, all beautifully prepared and full of flavour. There’s always something to enjoy, thanks to the hotel’s daily entertainment — from bus tours and painting sessions to evening music and dancing. The bar offers a great selection of drinks, and there are plenty of loungers and umbrellas whether you prefer the beach or the pool. Although the hotel is located in a busy area, the moment you step inside it feels secluded, calm, and tranquil. It’s a perfect blend of convenience and peaceful escape. I would highly recommend Mango Bay Hotel to anyone looking for exceptional service, great amenities, and a truly memorable stay. Read less

We recently stayed at Mango Bay in Barbados for a family holiday in March and we absolutely loved it. The resort is beautiful, with well-appointed rooms that have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool and beach areas are both fantastic, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. What really made our trip special was the incredible staff. We were travelling with a toddler and everyone was so kind, warm, and accommodating. It made a huge difference to our experience. A special mention goes to the restaurant team who made every meal a pleasure: Daniele, Maria, Faith, Kevin, and Rhianna. Damian, the barman, was fun, friendly, and always added great energy to our stay. Overall, it is a wonderful place for a family getaway and would eagerly return Read less
