The hotel

Mango Bay is in a great location on a beautiful beach on the west coast. We love it because it's a small, friendly hotel that exudes bajan charm. The restaurants, bars and boutiques of fashionable Holetown St. James, along with the Limegrove Lifestyle complex, are just footsteps away - and the complimentary catamaran cruise allows you to explore even more that the island has to offer.

For $1000 a night our rooms were not ready until 2 hours after check in and their offered compensation was a one hour late check out, which was worth zero to us because our flight departure was in the morning. Rooms Extremely basic and not worthy of the price.

The location is excellent, food was very good but the hotel and facilities are very tired as are the sun beds and cushions, we stayed in sea view rooms which were very tired room 212 and 213, the bath was yellow and the enamel was missing from large areas of the bath, we should of rejected the room from day one but we thought could get over not having a bath, it only got worse from this day, after a couple of days we returned to the room and it smelt damp and fusty, we then noticed the bed sheets were damp and there was a serious problem with condensation in the room , the glass tops had water on them and the walls were also wet along with the tiled floor, we then noticed there was a build up of mold around the ceiling arca trave and on the ceiling which had previously been painted over. we reported this and the manager came to the room and said you have to leave your air con all the time which i explained is not good to have air con on permanently , they changed the bed clothes and got house keeping to mop up the condensation and put the air con on full, i showed her the bath and the condition of the seal around it and the missing enamel and asked if she thought was acceptable? she said would deal with it. The hotel food as very good but 75% of the staff were miserable and at times very rude, i have been to Barbados 6 times and this is by far the worst experience i have had of the Caribbean, my advise if you want to go to this resort is avoid sea view rooms 212 and 213 as when asked the cleaning staff they said these rooms always smelt of damp so they are fully aware of the situation. At no Point did we get an apology for the condition of our rooms. Read less
