Mango Bay is in a great location on a beautiful beach on the west coast. We love it because it's a small, friendly hotel that exudes bajan charm. The restaurants, bars and boutiques of fashionable Holetown St. James, along with the Limegrove Lifestyle complex, are just footsteps away - and the complimentary catamaran cruise allows you to explore even more that the island has to offer.

We initally wanted to avoid this hotel as felt overall reviews suggested it would not be for us. Our virgin agent disagreed telling us how popular it was. So so glad we listened. Our holiday was the best we have had. We wanted chilled and carefree and Mango Bay gave us everything we needed. Some reviews critisie staff attitude but you get what you give & whilst sometimes it can seem rude if staff are not engaging the way you wish, we were met with 100% professional and polite service. Taking time to address staff by their name & speaking kindly & respectfully ramped up attitude & service a million per cent. None of know what others are going through & cannot say we turn up to our own work giving 100% every day. Life is tough for many in service industries & we suspect lots of clients turn up there with poor attitudes, behave badly, never tip then complain if their holiday is not perfect! Yes the rooms are a bit dated but they were spotless. 2 chairs in the room should be standard. The singing frogs were really annoying.& disturbed sleep but no one's fault. We dislike turn down service anywhere & the night we arrived had headed to bed not stopping to eat as exhausted after long tip, to be awoken sn hour in by this as not thought to put up sign. Beach towels should be limited to one per day as we witnessed some folk changing them 3 times a day! There needs to be a written sign with meal times either in the restaurant or room info. It seemed wasteful that the gym air-conditioning ran 24hrs despite being empty at times. The area with the pool table where guests wait fo rooms/taxis needs the sofas to be deep cleaned or renewed as heavily stained. Bug shout out to the staff especially to Annette, Shem, Kevin, Gaynor, Ronald, Kyle, Maria, Maxine, Brittany,Aisha, Shirlene. Every chef and the housekeeping team. You all totally rock, thank you for looking after us. Read less

Fourth time to Barbados, first time at Mango Bay had visited for a day when we stayed at their sister hotel Island Inn in 24, we really enjoyed Island Inn but thought we would give Mango Bay a try as it was a higher rating! On arrival we were placed in a condo at the Palm Springs Resort which adjoins the Mango Bay, we said as we were shown the room we were not happy and felt unsafe at the location of this “room” and we would like a room in the main hotel blocks to be told we are at full capacity and there are no other rooms, someone had obviously been given our room as ours had been booked for months, a move was offered for the Monday. The Saturday morning my grandson went to get his trainers to go to the gym and they were missing.Reported to reception, a manager, a security guard and head of housekeeping came over to search the room with my help to look for the trainers including looking in safe. Police were called but trainers were never recovered. We did get a room move into main hotel thankfully and managed to sleep more confidently and felt safer. Avoid a condo room if offered not secure. Shout out to Grafton, Maria, Dayle, Tionne Karon 👌👍 The beach is beautiful, unfortunately sun bed wars have started in Barbados lol, beds are gone by 8.30ish at the beach and they don’t have more to bring out, we did ask, so it was up at 7 to get the beds 👍 The pool beds the same lol think that was maybe due to people having beds at beach and pool rather selfish. The food- most disappointing, the food at Island Inn was spot on, was expecting here to be much better with being a higher rating. The cuts of meat, chicken etc was poor, needing to skim the impurities of the soup, thank goodness for fresh bread and ice cream lol. Drinks were nice and freshly made. Housekeeping in rooms was good 👍 was always done when we went back to room. Thank you to Isabelle for organising a lovely surprise for our wedding anniversary, it was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately we won’t be one of the many returning guest to this hotel because of the issues we had, and I have noticed a few of them saying they won’t be returning regarding the food etc. We made the most of our holiday after the very disappointing start,(never expected anything to be taken from our room)the thought of someone being in room without our permission scared me. Every member of staff from management down were brilliant. We booked a sea view room, we were in room 211 it doesn’t get better. The only downside was as an older couple the sea shelf made it difficult to leave the ocean. We made up by using the pool. We never once had a problem getting a beach or pool bed. Yes the hotel is old but clean, air con top class and a hot water shower. Book your lunch and dinner at breakfast and remember gents you need a collar on your shirt but tailored shorts are acceptable. The food is mostly great I’m a fussy one but always found something acceptable. This hotel was so good we’ve booked again for October and can’t wait. Entertainment was good mostly but you are sitting on a beach front hotel what more do you want. We went on a boat trip organised by a guy on the beach again top class. I did a scuba lesson in the pool, I’m hooked and the diving staff were great, give it a go. If I marked this hotel out of 10 it would run to 9.8. If you want to stay in Barbados give Mango Bay a shot I would bet you won’t be disappointed. See you again 12 October Read less

We stayed here for one week. The hotel itself is nice enough. The room was clean however quite dated. Lots of brown decor. The entertainment could be improved such as more interactive guest activities. Some of the staff were quite miserable looking. One person in particular constantly looked annoyed, and there was no positive interaction. I took my son down for breakfast 30 mins before it stopped and she was clearly annoyed about this. I asked for tea, and was given coffee so I politely mentioned this. She said abruptly “you asked for coffee” (I don’t like coffee so why would I ask for it) I wasn’t going to argue over it. That made me feel really uncomfortable having breakfast, so i promptly left. MOST of the staff were nice. I have to give a shout out to Maria who was always lovely and so thoughtful. Also a guy called Xavier. Lovely guy! Our son has autism and most of the staff were very good with him. Bar staff weren’t very sociable and appeared miserable most of the time. The beach was amazing however the activities weren’t well advertised. We enjoyed the food. Read less
