An incredible trip

We have just returned from a week at Lobigili and had a fantastic time. We stayed in a pool water villa (322 right at the end of the bridge) and it was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. I’d definitely recommend paying the extra to have the pool villa as sometimes the flag is red meaning you cannot enter the sea, so having the pool to cool off in was brilliant. Thank you to Pooja for keeping our room so clean.
Alpi was our island host and she was fantastic- always happy to answer questions, bring us anything we needed, arrange excursions and restaurants, and organise buggy’s to take us to the bar or the sister island. Alpi also organised a special surprise evening for our wedding anniversary with a decorated table in the restaurant, a decorated bed and we had a bath waiting for us when we returned to our room. Very special.
We visited Ailafushi twice, once for the cultural show (I wouldn’t recommend this to be honest) and another time for the fire show (which was great). They have a buffet which we visited once and the food was good.
The staff at Lobigili are brilliant, always smiling and polite. Sayan at the bar always remembered our order and would recommend drinks he thought we would like. Sam was great at taking photographs for us. When you depart the staff gifted us a souvenir and made an effort to personally thank us for visiting and waved us off.
The food was good but not exceptional as we were expecting based on other reviews. We found the food to be better at Ylang Ylang than it was in the two speciality restaurants (especially the beach restaurant which we thought the food was not great at to be honest) however definitely visit Only Blu for the experience of the underwater views! The service in the restaurants was rather slow however this was a minor inconvenience given how great everything else on the island was. This is the only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars, but I’d say it’s certainly a 4.5 star resort!
The included experiences were brilliant- the spa was bliss! The snorkelling trip was so much fun and the fishing trip was a great experience. We booked to do the dolphin trip but the rain unfortunately meant it was cancelled.
For those wondering about August weather, in the week we were there we had 2 days of constant rain, 2 days of cloudy skies with occasional rain but still very warm, and 3 days of perfect weather. It’s a gamble at this time of year but we were happy with the weather on the whole.
We also saw 6 sharks whilst we were there!
Overall an incredible trip that I would highly recommend!
