The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport.

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. All villas have 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

Please note: all rooms have a minimum occupancy of 2 people. Single occupancy is not accepted.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at The Swing Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 Food Truck. Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and The Swing Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The Swing Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. Complimentary selection of non-motorised water sports. One complimentary sunset fishing trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). One complimentary snorkelling guide trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). In-villa minibar replenished daily with an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with a selection of snacks. Unlimited access to the over water gymnasium. Daily live music performances at The Swing Bar. One 45 minute spa treatment per person per every 4 night stay (4 night minimum stay required).

Nest Water Villas are situated over the ocean with direct lagoon access, an outdoor shower, and a private overwater hammock.

SunNest Water Pool Villas are similar to the Water Villas, with the addition of a private infinity pool.

Ylang-Ylang (all-day dining with a la carte menu and live cooking stations). The Swing Bar (poolside bar with live music, afternoon snacks, and drinks throughout the day). Only BLU (underwater fine-dining restaurant). Gaadiya 17 Food Truck (casual dining on the beach, serving a range of exotic game meats). Guests can also dine at Element X at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi as this is included within the All Inclusive plan.

What can I say about this beautiful island and its amazing, attentive staff… just WOW! From the moment we stepped off the plane to arriving at the island, everything was absolutely flawless. The cold towels on arrival were very welcome in the heat, and the glasses of fizz went down a treat too! We met our host, Mechelle and what an absolute credit she is to the hotel. Nothing was ever too much trouble, which is exactly what you want from a host. Pure class, Mechelle! Our Water Villa with plunge pool was incredible and kept spotless by the housekeepers, who were also flippin’ lovely. The sunset views from our villa completely took my breath away. The sea near our villa was a little choppy at times as it was the beginning of monsoon season, but on calmer days the snorkelling was still amazing. Ylang Ylang served the most incredible food with so much choice — it was hard to stop ourselves from going back for more! The waiting staff were fantastic; our water and wine glasses were never empty. A massive thank you to Elin, our waitress. You were an absolute delight, and the laughs and banter Gary and I shared with you will always stay with us. We missed your face when you weren’t around and still miss it now — such a beautiful human, just like all the staff there. We ate at Gaadiya 17 one evening and again the food was outstanding. The lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection, and the service was exceptional once more. The West Bar… yes, we may have tried one too many cocktails, but they were just too delicious! The bar staff were so lovely and always made sure our glasses were full. My husband loved the Fuzzy Orange, while I adored the Negroni and the limoncello cocktail specially made for me. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any member of staff. Everyone was always smiling and willing to help. The underwater restaurant was an unforgettable experience. We hoped to see a shark swim by — and we did! Along with so many other beautiful fish. While the food didn’t quite match Ylang Ylang or Gaadiya 17, the experience itself completely outweighed that. This island truly is “The Island of Love,” and that love shines through not only from the guests, but from every host, housekeeper, bartender, waiter, and waitress. They all deserve a pay rise! This was our fourth visit to the Maldives and first to this island which had great reviews on staff and service levels. We were not disappointed, if the very best service we had experienced to date was 10/10 the service and staff friendliness and help was worth 20/10, they were all amazing. We booked 10 days early May knowing it was the start of the rainy season, unfortunately on percentages, 80% was overcast, 10% sun and 10% rain, also quite windy and sea not calm enough for our confidence to go snorkeling. However temperature was a fairly constant 30 degrees and degree of cloud could vary several times within just a few hours. We had an over the water villa facing open sea with own deck pool. Room was very well appointed and superbly maintained, cannot fault the accommodation in any way. Food was first class but we thought the A la Carte offering at Ylang Ylang was the best. We had 2 meals at Gadiya 17, also first class, and 2 evening meals at the Under The Water restaurant. 45' below sea level, seeing fish swimming inches from your face was amazing, unfortunately we thought the food did not match Ylang Ylang but this may be more to do with our menu choices. Each week, there is a cocktail night and evening meal buffet Gala night held at Ylang Ylang bar. Personally we are not sure of the value of this as there was no real focus or reasoning that we could see. We are not fan of self-service evening meals so if there had been alternative restaurants we would give the Gala night a miss, also the cocktail choice was limited to one alcoholic option and one not, both a bit bland so we opted to have our choice from the West Bar. The whole island was spotless, with a big staff team constantly tidying and maintaining, we went to breakfast at 7am on our last day and the sandy main walkway had already been raked over. We went to the West bar for pre dinner drinks and staff their were most attentive. we were suffering head colds for a couple of days but a local remedy of hot ginger and honey prepared by West bar staff soon helped our recovery. Overall, the staff looked after us so well that even the poor weather did not detract from a great holiday experience. Read less

We just got back from 10 days at Obligili a few days ago. This hotel was gorgeous with the best staff and first class food we have experienced for a while and we love to travel! All the restaurant and bar staff were so brilliant at their jobs, nothing is too much trouble for them and also extremely friendly . I would love to mention their names individually but there were too many to mention. One of the chefs was chatting to us one night asking if everything was ok and he even said if we wanted something that was not on the menu just let them know the day before and they will do everything they can to provide it! Exceptional! The underwater restaurant was amazing and 2 visits were included in our package. Our hostess was Sarah and she too was great and exceeded our expectations. Our overwater nest was fantastic and Koti looked after it twice a day to a very high standard. We used the gym quite a lot and that too was one of the best we have ever experienced with fantastic personal trainers. We tended to stay on one of the beaches rather than around the pool but the pool and surrounds were very cool. Look up the Lobi Plan as it has several extra inclusions in the All Inclusive. I would say that the beaches and snorkelling from the island are not as spectacular as some other islands in the Maldives if that is your number one criteria but for us, this time, the quick boat transfer from the airport and Adults Only All Inclusive were a high priority. Overall I would highly recommend Lobigili and really did not want to leave. Read less

We have had the most amazing holiday at Lobigili. Our stay was perfect from our arrival to departure and was made extra special by the wonderful and friendly team across the whole island, who are so welcoming and always willing to help. We felt well looked after throughout our stay and Lana our Island Host was fantastic. We stayed in an overwater villa, which was a beautiful setting and the room was kept to a very high standard. Thank you to Koti and the team who work so hard. The restaurants offer a great choice of food and we loved all our meals. We wanted to give special thanks to all the team at the Ylang Ylang restaurant and G17 food truck who all went above and beyond. Sorry we can't name everyone but huge thank you to Elin, Merina, Kim, Nisha and Ata. You really made our holiday special!
