The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport.

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. All villas have 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at West Beach Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 (pre-booking required). Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and West Beach Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The West Beach Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. Complimentary selection of non-motorised water sports. One complimentary sunset fishing trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). One complimentary snorkelling guide trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). In-villa minibar replenished daily with an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with a selection of snacks. Unlimited access to the over water gymnasium. Nest Water Villas are situated over the ocean with direct lagoon access, an outdoor shower, and a private overwater hammock.

We’ve just returned from another stay at OBLU SELECT Lobigili and, as always, the people are a huge part of what makes this place so special. A very special mention has to go to Madheeh in the restaurant. We remembered him from our previous visits and it was genuinely so lovely to see him again. He is such a kind, warm person and even gave us a little present, which was completely unexpected and incredibly thoughtful. It’s those personal touches that stay with you long after the holiday is over. Thank you so much, Madheeh ❤️ Merina remains one of our absolute favourites and it was wonderful seeing her again. She always makes us feel so welcome and is definitely one of the people we look forward to seeing when we return. There were so many other lovely members of the team who deserve recognition. Alya, our host, looked after us throughout our stay, and Rada was fantastic in the restaurant. It was also great to see Rachelle again at OBLU BLU after remembering her from the main restaurant on a previous visit. A big thank you to Sailo and the bar team, including Divya and Sara, for looking after us. Teju also had us laughing when she served us in the truck – such a funny woman! In the restaurant, Seita was so friendly, particularly during our special dinner when we ended up chatting about Christmas. Nisha, the prankster of the group, always made us laugh, while Dee was another lovely character – we’re still laughing about her wanting to join us at the spa! Thank you also to Nora, who looked after us during our special dinner, and to Sapna, Idhoo and Harc for taking such good care of us. We also have to mention Pinki at OBLU BLU, and Hazel, our room attendant, who did a wonderful job looking after our villa. There are lots of beautiful resorts in the Maldives, but what keeps bringing us back to Lobigili is the people. When you return somewhere and staff remember you, welcome you back and genuinely seem pleased to see you, it makes the experience feel much more personal. Whether you want romance, great food, even greater staff, snorkelling, activities or just a beautiful view then Lobigili has all angles covered and then some. The food is 5 star plus and we particularly love Ylang Ylang, the main restaurant for dinner, lunch and breakfast. The chefs are so passionate and the waiting teams go above and beyond. We were lucky enough to have two weeks of wonderful weather and we made some great friends. We particularly loved dinner at Only Blu, the largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives and the sunset boat trip. Even if it had rained everyday, I do not think we could have enjoyed ourselves any less. The staff are the selling point of this island. There was not one interaction that we had that was not a joy. I wish I could name every single member here individually - they are a credit to OBLU. We cannot wait to come back! Read less

What really made our stay special was the outstanding service. A very special thank you to our hostess, July, for her professionalism, kindness and attention throughout our stay. We would also like to thank Sailo, Sara and the entire West Beach Bar team, all the staff at Ylang Ylang, Carol, and the many other team members who looked after us so well. Everyone was friendly, attentive and genuinely professional. The villa, restaurants, bars, activities and overall atmosphere were excellent. Went in April 25 and loved it so much we booked for this year but was cancelled due to conflict. Have rebooted again for April 27 and cannot wait. Most amazing holiday.
