The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport.

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. All villas have 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

Please note: all rooms have a minimum occupancy of 2 people. Single occupancy is not accepted.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at The Swing Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 Food Truck. Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and The Swing Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The Swing Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. Complimentary selection of non-motorised water sports. One complimentary sunset fishing trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). One complimentary snorkelling guide trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). In-villa minibar replenished daily with an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with a selection of snacks. Unlimited access to the over water gymnasium. Daily live music performances at The Swing Bar. One 45 minute spa treatment per person per every 4 night stay (4 night minimum stay required).

Nest Water Villas are situated over the ocean with direct lagoon access, an outdoor shower, and a private overwater hammock.

SunNest Water Pool Villas are similar to the Water Villas, with the addition of a private infinity pool.

Ylang-Ylang (all-day dining with a la carte menu and live cooking stations). The Swing Bar (poolside bar with live music, afternoon snacks, and drinks throughout the day). Only BLU (underwater fine-dining restaurant). Gaadiya 17 Food Truck (casual dining on the beach, serving a range of exotic game meats). Guests can also dine at Element X at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi as this is included within the All Inclusive plan.

This resort is amazing, such a beautiful and romantic getaway. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the food was fantastic and the cocktails plentiful. The underwater restaurant and a trip to the day spa was well worth the visit. Definitely go the long stay package as its all inclusive. We will defintely be back!

What an amazing team, the coordinator and Mitchelle and the rest of the staff was ALL amazing . Room was house kept at least TWICE a day. Food is the best. NO COMPLAINTS. I am not sure where to start! Everything was just amazing! We celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary with the honeymoon that we never had at Lobigili. We stayed end September/early October. We spent three nights in an over water nest villa and four nights in a beach villa with pool. Both villas were comfortable, clean and decorated beautifully. Activities from our week - sunset cruise, spa treatments, marine talk, fishing trip, underwater restaurant, snorkelling, pizza making with an Italian chef, cocktail night, Oktoberfest, towel making class, culture night and the food truck beach dinner. The food was amazing! A fantastic variety to choose from, the desserts were so delicious! Our host, Esther, was fantastic at organising our activities and letting us know about daily events, she also arranged a celebration cake on our anniversary. Teju looked after us so well during meals, remembering our favourite drinks and organised special table decorations for our anniversary. Carol was always smiling, full of information and great at the extra organised events, such as Oktoberfest. The housekeeping team and maintenance and grounds team were awesome. The bar staff were fun and made us drinks not even on the menu. The team who met us at the airport were amazing and upon the return we were guided all the way to the check in area - not just dropped off at the entrance. Lobigili was absolutely amazing. You are met at the airport and from there on everything you could possibly want is taken care of. We stayed in beach pool villa 121 which was fantastic. Our island hostesses, Isaa and Sarah, were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. The main restaurant Ylang Ylang is buffet, but main courses are cooked fresh, and the chefs take enormous pride in their food, often cooking dishes off menu to showcase the food of their homelands (we had a Sri Lankan feast arranged by the manager as we'd said we'd like to visit the country). The underwater restaurant is spectacular, and the food truck meal was incredible, even though it was served during a monsoon !!. The think which makes the resort so special are the staff - they are so friendly and are genuinely invested in you having the best time. A holiday we will never forget. Read less

The staff here are the best I think we’ve ever had on holiday and we travel a lot! Lisa, our hostess, in particular was fantastic, as were the room cleaners who serviced our room to perfection each day. The food in Ylang was amazing each day and we loved the underwater restaurant and food cabin (can’t remember its name!). Couldn’t fault the staff or the hotel itself. And it was lovely having no kids there shouting and hollering (we left our 3 at home - a time and a place and all that!) ……The weather was the only downside. It was REALLY windy and rained (torrentially) every day. 2 days it rained all day pretty much, but most days it rained all afternoon. We always made sure we were in the bar when the rains came! Nights were the worst in our little water villa (which was itself beautiful!) . Each night the wind would whip up and the waves would crash against the villa. I didn’t sleep all week as got woken up every night by the rain and waves! Thought we were going to set sail to another island one night it was so bad! Anyway, the weather was the only bad thing . The resort and staff are FABULOUS!! I must say however I was pretty shocked to hear the island is in-fact man made!! It was ‘built’ around 3 years ago and everything you see was ‘brought in’ …. This disappointed me a little as I wondered if I was getting the real Maldivian experience….. overall a wonderful holiday and even the wind and rain didn’t spoil it. Read less
