OBLU SELECT Lobigili

Just out of this world , the location is stunning, the accommodation fantastic but what really made it special for us, were the fantastic staff . Every single person working there was a delight to speak with and they all went out of their way to make you feel welcome and to make you feel special . We went for our 2 week honeymoon mid June this year and although the weather was a little changeable at times, that didn’t really spoil much for us . We were greeted by our lovely island host, Mechelle, as soon as we stepped off the speed boat. She was available throughout our stay to help with any queries, sorting out bookings at restaurants and trips, activities etc .Our only disappointment was the sea was a bit rough at times for snorkelling, especially if you aren’t a strong swimmer , but we did book during the rainy season so that’s the luck of the draw I suppose . LOCATION Excellent, 15-20 min speed boat from Male airport and it's a nice speedboat as well, very comfortable and it even has wi-fi if you wanted that. The speed boat could probably hold 10-12 people but we had 6 of us and it was great. The island is insane, fantastic views and you can see other islands in the distant but nothing is close to you. ATMOSPHERE Fantastic, so relaxed and what's even better is the staff are not only on their A game giving 100% effort but they are also relaxed in the sense their personalities shine through their service and remember everything you tell them, your taste in food and drinks etc. The most relaxed I have ever felt with a calming presence everywhere. ROOMS Amazing rooms, we stayed in a beach villa with pool. It feels a bit weird having an outdoor bathroom when you first use it but then I felt like a freaking king and now I want one for myself. Bathroom was amazing, waterfall shower, mosiac bath which is huge. King size bed with a ceiling fan and air conditioning with a TV, mini fridge with drinks and food that is replenished everyday. The pool was brilliant, we loved the pool and the beach is a few seconds away, your villa is on the beach itself and so you can see the sea. Also the location of the room was brilliant, 2 mins away from the restuarant, water activies and bar. VALUE I get why it is so expensive to go there, my wife booked this for our honeymoon and I never spend anything over £1500 for a holiday so when she booked this I nearly fell over but now forget the money I want to go back every year. I genuinely don't think I will ever be as satisfied going on another holiday because I will always compare it to Lobi gili. CLEANLINESS 2x cleans a day in the room - pool is done every other day I believe and we always get really nice messages in our room. Lobigili seem to hate footsteps in the sand everywhere so you will always have landscapers with rakes raking the sand so you are always walking on plush new sand which is really cool. No trash anywhere, everything is so unbelievably clean everywhere you go including the sea. NOISE LEVEL It's so quiet I can hear the fish in the sea. We were lucky and went when the island is operating at 40% capacity for the first 3 days and we couldn't hear a single thing it was absolutely bliss. After the island hit around 60% capacity and still not a peep. Everybody keeps themselves to themselves and is so respectful. My wife fell asleep in the garden of the villa next to the pool all the time and that was great, I got to watch TV which has netflix installed so you can just log in on your account. SERVICE Unbelievable service, there was a lot of staff everywhere and they are all so great. This was the highlight for me, they all want to get to know you, what you normally drink, what kind of food you like. I kid you not, I finish a plate of food and the plate is collected, I finish a drink and just about to put it down, somebody has taken it away but this is the great bit, they don't hover, you don't notice them they just suddenly appear out of nowhere. This was the highlight of the holiday for me as I wasn't expecting this. I have never experienced this type of customer service in my life. AMENITIES Gym which is on the sea, fantastic with great gym staff, I spoke to them a lot. Up to date equipment and clean. Spa staff at both spa's (a bigger spa at the second island it connects to as this is a adults only island and the other island is family so we can go there but they can't come to us) I had my first ever manicure and pedicure as a man and it was amazing, feel a bit bad for the staff member that did it but she did a great job. Ylang Ylang, buffet restuarant and the best restuarant I have ever been too and we both miss it so much. Only Blu restuarant which is the under the sea restuarant which also was great. I'm a vegetarian and I loved all the food, the menu is very vegetarian friendly. Not a fan of the Gaadiya 17, the menu was a bit weird and the vegetarian option wasn't great. Out of every meal I had the entire time there, this was the only meal I didn't enjoy so I had a absolute great time with the food. Kayaking, Snorkelling trips and sunset cruise included in the price, that was amazing. What an experience that was. Huge shout out to a few of the staff out there, unfortunately I didn't get all the names but: Mechelle - Island Host - The most positive and happiest person I have ever met. She just melts your heart, always messaging and always very helpful. Elin - Ylang Ylang restuarant staff - Told me off for not eating enough food one day for dinner, brilliant at her job and always welcoming Rahul - King of the kitchen - Made a tailored meal plan for me so I could enjoy proper Indian food every day for lunch and dinner including on his day off. I was in paradise, the food was unbelivable. Madheeh - Ylang Ylang restuarant staff - Grafter - Genuinely lovely bloke and so welcoming. Absolutely loved having him serve us and he was everywhere all day everyday. Hariom - Kitchen staff - A really interesting guy, made great breakfast's for me everyday, loved the Dosa and Sambar and always enjoyed speaking with him. Khet - Our cleaner - great at her job and when we were in and she wanted to clean our room, she would always come back 30 minutes later when we would then go out and we would have the place spotless and bed made ready for bed. Oblu Select Lobigili is an amazing resort. I would recommend to anyone! From airport pick-up, speedboat transfer, check-in, and all the way back, everything was seamless. The inclusions are amazing - OnlyBlu, Gaadiya, 45 min massage, 2 excursions (we chose snorkelling and sunset fishing), as well as the food, drink and transfers I wished I had another couple of days to just soak up the sun and the atmosphere (we were only there for 4 short days). There is a relaxed and calm vibe (and if we wanted something more high energy, we can just go over to the sister resort on Ailafushi). The room was beautiful and had everything we needed. The daily restocking of the minibar and snacks was a great touch! The staff go above and beyond, and are always willing to accommodate any request you have. Ruchika was amazing - kept us informed of the daily itinerary via WhatsApp, so we really didn't need to think. She found us each evening at dinner to check in with our day. Along with our room attendant, Koti, both of them made our stay very effortless and enjoyable. Koti decorated our bed to welcome us and on our anniversary celebration night. She even drew us an excellent bubble bath. The house reef (on the sunset side) was amazing! We saw so many different fish, and we were lucky to get a visit from a black-tip reef shark as well. The water was perfect and aside from 1 day where the winds were too high, we were able to jump off our deck into the clear waters and snorkel. We visited Lobigili for our honeymoon and recovery trip after I had just undergone surgery for a serious ligament injury. Before arriving, I was honestly worried about how difficult everything would be, especially getting on and off the boat. From the moment we arrived, every single member of the team went above and beyond to help me. I wish I could mention everyone's names, but it's simply impossible because every staff member was amazing. They were genuinely kind, caring, and always ready to lend a hand. Even the other guests were incredibly friendly, making us feel so welcome throughout our stay. A special thank you to Executive Chef Marcus. He was so warm and approachable, and every day he would come over to chat with us and make sure we were enjoying our meals. Those little conversations made us feel less like guests and more like friends. His genuine hospitality left a lasting impression on us. The food was absolutely unforgettable! My biggest surprise was the chocolate desserts—especially the chocolate cake! I'm actually not a fan of chocolate-flavoured desserts, but Lobigili completely changed my mind. My husband even said it was the best chocolate cake he has ever had. Honestly, I think the cakes, the fresh seafood (especially the lobster!), the perfectly cooked steaks, and the incredible Indian cuisine all played a part in healing my foot! 😆 Although I couldn't experience the underwater beauty of the Maldives or join many of the activities because of my injury, we never felt disappointed. Lobigili gave us something even more valuable—a honeymoon filled with kindness, genuine care, amazing food, and unforgettable memories.
