OBLU SELECT Lobigili

It's good that we selected Lobigili for our honeymoon because everything was great. We had nice honeymoon holiday. Food was excellent and staff service was great. Room was very clean and tidy. Especially Ranil at water sports center was really helpful for us. Because he speaks Japanese fluently so that we can easily communicate as we wish. It was a great support for us. I started planning this surprise trip for my wife's "big" birthday (!) nearly two years ago and have spent an inordinate amount of time researching options in the Maldives. My three main criteria were: Small island/resort with not too many rooms, Within 30 mins transfer from Male, & over 18's. Oblu Lobigili ticked all these boxes and the TripAdvisor reviews made a compelling case so I decided to book. Generally speaking, I have very high expectations and as you can see from other TripAdvisor reviews I have written, although I am fair, I can quite easily find fault in "the little things". So we arrived at Lobigili with high expectations..... And they were all SMASHED out of the park! We have travelled a lot as a couple (and a family) and we both agreed this was our best holiday EVER. I could wax lyrical for pages, so will just mention a couple of highlights. HOSTESS Alpi was assigned as our Island hostess and we were so very pleased she was. She was an angel: professional, kind, friendly and very very effective. The WhatsApp system of communication they have here, backed up by the Oblu App, is really quick, effective and very unobtrusive. ROOM Went all out for the over water sunset villa with pool and boy-oh-boy was that the right call. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms we have ever had. If you're thinking about booking and are a bit torn.....do it. The extra cost is 100% worth it for the level of luxury, privacy and overall WOW factor. HOUSEKEEPING Koti was our housekeeper and was amazing - the room was cleaned twice a day, bar and snacks constantly topped up. She was courteous, professional and lovely. FOOD Ylang Ylang is so much more than "the main restaurant" one would expect at an all inclusive, even a high end one. The food was OUTSTANDING both at lunch at dinner. We were so very very impressed by it all - the chefs and waiting staff should all be commended for exceptional service. DRINK Just as an aside - the wine list is really very very good. We didn't have a single glass that wasn't terrific. there is an "exclusive" list you can pay extra for if you choose, but there is absolutely no need to whatsoever; whoever put the main cellar selection together has done a terrific job. SPA Beautiful and well managed in a lovely setting. We both took advantage of the 45 minute massage included in the Lobi-plan on our first full day to ease out the flight/journey aches and pains. I am a bit of a massage fan, I have one regularly here in the UK, and found the massage I had was SO GOOD, I booked for another hour on our last day. The masseuse, Ching, clearly knows her stuff absolutely inside-out, and delivered not one, but two of the best massages I have ever had. The very moment I win the lottery I will be asking her if she will come here and become our in-house masseuse forever! As I said, I could go on for hours. I really wanted this trip to be one of a kind, super-special and spent a long time deciding where to go. I've done all the hard work now for you so you don't have to ! Go to Lobigili. We've just just got home but were planning when we can go back before we'd even left. What an amazing experience we had. Everything is great - the food, the room, the location...but the best part is the staff. Everyone you walked past would greet you with a smile and a hello - even the landscaping team and lifeguards. A special mention to Sarah who arranged everything for us and checked on us everyday and Nisha and Elin in ylang ylang who just made us smile all the time. Thankyou! Read less

Perfect trip again having been last February too - amazing food, exceptional service, an environment to ensure you relax and enjoy your holiday. Attention to detail from staff is 10/10 every day and being there for both Valentines Day and Chinese New Year I was absolutely overwhelmed by the effort made to celebrate both days. All staff deserve to be mentioned and acknowledged and I will just give a shout out to just a few who made things perfect for us Sara in The Swing Bar, nothing was too much trouble, along with her colleague Diviya, every day by the pool was so enjoyable. Our host Belle, so hard working, and kept our daily itinerary on track, ALL of the therapists in the spa, oh my word you will want to go back again and again and ALL of the staff in Ylang Ylang who were permanently smiling and making our meal times so enjoyable - Nisha you made us even happier every day.
