The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport.

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at West Beach Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 (pre-booking required). Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and West Beach Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The West Beach Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. The manager at Ylang Ylang Ms Carol was always attentive and was a very good host. I would rate the food at this resort a 4/5 but I would say towards the end the options seemed limited. This island is attached to it's sister island which is more lively and we were always welcome to use the facilities which was fantastic! Lest I forget, we had an amazing experience at the underwater restaurant Only Blu and the over water Gym was a fitness freak's dream come true. We were always kept occupied-be it the fishing sunset trip or the snorkeling trip, 4 days seemed to be a decent amount of time to explore the amenities. I enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend for a quiet laid back time for couples! Read less

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Oblu Lobigilli. This was our first trip to the Maldives and the resort most definitely lives up to the amazing reviews we read before booking. We were greeted at Male airport by resort staff and shown to our speed boat. As we were boarding, the clouds were darkening and the wind whipping up. It was a bit of. bumpy journey and raining when we arrived but we were met by the lovely Lana who would be our host for the week. Nothing was too much trouble and she checked in on us multiple times each day to see whether there was anything extra she could do for us. She arranged our bookings at restaurants, the spa and the sunset boat cruise and updated with us with any changes immediately. Our room wasn't quite ready (we arrived about 11am) but we were offered drinks and lunch whilst we waited. Once we were shown to it by Lana, we found it to be just lovely. We'd chosen a beach villa and this was spotlessly clean, the bed really comfortable and the whole place felt spacious. The pool was small but perfect for a quick cool off and the outdoor bathroom had a super shower. We had taken a bit of a gamble visiting during the monsoon season and this didn't exactly pay off. We did have some sunny spells throughout the week but we also experienced some rain (one full day plus other showers), lots of cloud and a strong breeze a lot of the time. Mostly, we were still able to sit out but it was a shame not to have the sun shining on those beautiful turquoise waters. The beach there was not as picturesque as others we had seen when choosing where to stay. It was quite narrow with a good few sandbags in places but it depends on your priorities. We weren't into snorkelling and were happy by the pool so it didn't affect us too much. The food here was fabulous. Breakfast and lunch were buffet style, with the most amazing choice and a number of live cooking stations where you ordered food, which would be brought to your table. In an evening, the buffet restaurant became a la carte, which we really appreciated. The other restaurants were also excellent, the underwater one being a real novelty for us. The staff in the restaurants were just so attentive, topping up your glass, clearing your plates, checking whether there was anything else they could get for you. We were so well looked after by every single member of the team but a special mention to Carol and Elin, who we really enjoyed chatting with. As has been said before, the team working here make this a really special place to holiday. They all seem to work so hard, whether that be in housekeeping, landscaping or anything else. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oblu Lobigilli, we had the most relaxing stay here. Read less

To celebrate my milestone 50th birthday, we stayed 5 nights at Oblu Select Lobigili, and it truly exceeded every expectation. This was a bucket-list destination, and being there felt surreal. I literally cried when we arrived, and cried again when we left — that's how much this place moved us. We already know we want to return. Getting to the island was seamless via speedboat, and we were welcomed with a wonderfully warm and attentive greeting upon arrival. Our island hostess, July, walked us through everything we needed to know for our stay, making us feel instantly at ease. The property itself was beautiful and impeccably maintained. As an adults-only resort, it offered a level of quiet and peace that was hard to find elsewhere — at times, we had the entire beach lagoon to ourselves. The island is connected via bridge to the Oblu Experience Family resort, which you're welcome to visit, but we loved staying immersed in the tranquility of Lobigili. Staying in an overwater villa with our own private pool was a dream. The room itself was beautiful, and having our own pool to cool off during hot, humid days made all the difference. We also loved being able to jump straight into the ocean for a swim right from our villa. The bathroom was a personal highlight, featuring a spa bath and a rain shower that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our housekeeper, Pooja, was wonderful and delighted us with sweet little surprises during turndown service each evening. The Lobi all-inclusive plan was fantastic — no need to worry about paying for anything, as it covered all meals, drinks, and a selection of excursions. We especially enjoyed sunset fishing and snorkeling a nearby reef. Our plan included a massage for both of us, and we opted to upgrade for additional time. The service was wonderful and incredibly relaxing. Blu was a unique dining experience — the food was good, though most guests (us included) found themselves distracted trying to capture photos and videos of the fish and sharks swimming below. We also thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Ylang Ylang. Beyond the wonderful setting and amenities, what truly made our stay so special was the staff. From the bartenders and servers to the beach attendants and beyond, everyone was helpful, warm, and always wearing a genuine smile. While we weren't able to get everyone's name, a few who stood out to us were Haydie, Harc, Nora, Merina, and Wintri. Thank you, Oblu, for making our holiday so special and memorable. Every part of the resort is beautifully looked after, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. What truly made our stay so special, however, was the people. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with live music, refreshing drinks and warm smiles, setting the tone for what turned out to be an unforgettable holiday. Every member of staff was friendly, professional, attentive and genuinely cared about making our stay as enjoyable as possible. The resort also goes above and beyond to celebrate special occasions. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary or another special moment, they create wonderful memories with thoughtful touches such as beautifully decorated tables, room decorations and the most creative towel animals. We were greeted by elephants, dogs, turtles and other amazing creations that always brought a smile to our faces. A very special thank you goes to our wonderful island hostess, July, who looked after us so well throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and she was always kind, approachable and incredibly helpful. We’d also like to thank the Duty Manager, Patrice, and the rest of the team, who made the effort to be there at around 5:00 a.m. to personally say goodbye before our departure.
