The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport.

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. All villas have 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at The Swing Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 Food Truck. Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and The Swing Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The Swing Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. Complimentary selection of non-motorised water sports. One complimentary sunset fishing trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). One complimentary snorkelling guide trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). Nest Water Villas are situated over the ocean with direct lagoon access, an outdoor shower, and a private overwater hammock.

From the moment you meet the Lobigili team at the airport you know this is a going to be a great holiday. The quick jet boat transfer after 11 hour flight ensured we were soon being welcomed at the Island of love. As we stepped off the boat we were greeted by our names and slowly walked to the West Beech Bar where Mechelle our amazing host for the week gave us a drink, cold flannels and shared information including the itinerary she had created for us. Shortly she gave us a tour of the island on her buggy and then showed us into our beach nest. The room was amazing benefiting from the splash pool and direct access to the beach and sea. We did 3 nights in beach nest and 4 nights in over water with pool. If you ask 100 people what is best it would be 50 / 50 which is why we did both. View from over water is amazing but it is steep into the water and quite a strong current. From beach Villa the water is calmer. So if strong swimmers and want to snorkel overwater is for you. If just want to bob then beach is for you. Both rooms were kept super clean twice a day by the amazing house keeping staff. The food choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner is vast and always something you like. They will also add things, I had some large prawns added to my steak. The underwater restaurant meal was first class with different wines for each course. A couple of sharks swam past whilst we were eating. The drinks menu covers all tastes and again ask for things not on the menu. We had treatments in the spa twice. My wife said her facial was the best she had ever had. My hot stone was so relaxing and he worked the tension in my shoulder blade out. We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and had our room decorated and a special cake. We even had the band play the song we had as our first dance to at our wedding with them announcing our names. I haven’t mentioned other staff as I don’t want to miss anyone but also because there are so many who you don’t interact with but are crucial to delivering the amazing holiday we had. The place is simply amazing! From the moment we arrived in Male, every member of the staff was polite and welcoming. They always had a smile on their faces and they attended to your every need. Our island hostess, July (Hi July), was on point. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, and luxurious vacation, this is it.
