The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport. 

Hotel information

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. All villas have 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

Please note: all rooms have a minimum occupancy of 2 people. Single occupancy is not accepted.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at The Swing Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 Food Truck. Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and The Swing Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The Swing Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. Complimentary selection of non-motorised water sports. One complimentary sunset fishing trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). One complimentary snorkelling guide trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). In-villa minibar replenished daily with an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with a selection of snacks. Unlimited access to the over water gymnasium. Daily live music performances at The Swing Bar. One 45 minute spa treatment per person per every 4 night stay (4 night minimum stay required).

Nest Water Villas are situated over the ocean with direct lagoon access, an outdoor shower, and a private overwater hammock.

SunNest Water Pool Villas are similar to the Water Villas, with the addition of a private infinity pool.

Where do I even begin… OBLU Lobigili truly is the island of love. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely wrapped in warmth, care, and genuine kindness from every single member of staff. A special mention has to go to Alpi, our incredible hostess, a beautiful lady inside and out, who made our stay unforgettable. She went above and beyond, organising the most thoughtful little touches for my husband’s birthday and even taking the most beautiful photos of us (which is such a gift when it’s just the two of you!). We genuinely felt so looked after every single day, right down to our morning itinerary messages which we already miss. The island itself is absolutely stunning. We were lucky enough to spot dolphin pods on a couple of occasions straight from the pool, such magical moments and even had a surprise encounter with a friendly black tipped shark while snorkelling off the beach near the villas! We stayed in a sunrise overwater villa, and it was kept absolutely perfect by Pooja, every detail was just right. The little touches, including the gorgeous White Company products (which I’ll definitely be buying to relive the memories!), made it feel extra special. We loved sitting out on our deck, snorkelling straight from the steps, and watching fish through the glass floor…. just incredible. Food was another highlight. Ylang Ylang was consistently amazing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also loved the relaxed food truck experience right on the beach, and the underwater restaurant was just something else, again with a lovely birthday surprise arranged by Alpi. Every single staff member we encountered, including of course those at the main bar, were so friendly and welcoming, it really makes all the difference and we felt so looked after. The included excursions were fantastic too. We did snorkelling and sunset fishing, both brilliantly run with attentive and friendly staff. We also treated ourselves to the dolphin sunset trip, absolutely worth it. I was a bit nervous moving around on the boat, but the team were so reassuring and made me feel completely at ease. We see so many dolphins and watched a gorgeous sunset on the way back. We honestly fell in love with this place. It’s not just the beauty, it’s the people, the atmosphere, and all the little details that make it so special. We can’t recommend OBLU Lobigili enough… and we’re already dreaming about our return 💖 Read less

We were also booked into Oblu Blue the underwater restaurant. Fabulous! The resort really has everything you could possibly want. Be as busy or as chilled out as you like. If you’re into snorkeling this is the place to book. We were in the sunset water villa and there’s reef just off the deck. We swam with turtles and all manner of fish. I had a massage and the therapists are super nice, professional and attentive. It’s the best holiday experience I’ve had. Ever! Read less

Our hostess Sarah was fantastic, she ensured that every part of our holiday was perfect. We were there to celebrate my partner big birthday and even though its not until later in the year, she still ensured it was fully celebrated with cake, card and room decorations. Venera at Swing Bar was amazing, she remembered our drinks each day, bringing them to us before we even had chance to ask. All restaurant staff were fantastic, too many to mention. The resort is beautiful and well-maintained, the food is nothing short of exceptional, the staff are incredible and the surrounding reef is stunning. The underwater restaurant is a once in a lifetime experience with the food at a high standard to match the location. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and well-kept throughout the stay. Special thanks to Ruchita, our host, who did everything she could to make our stay easy and relaxing. Before we go, we saw many criticizing reviews regarding the food on Maldives, but you should never worry about it on Lobigili. It has a large variety of selections, European, Mexican, Indian you name it, even specialized Chinese menus for us, which was very thoughtful. What touched us most was the service on the island. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, especially our hostess Sarah, who had always been offering us great assistance during our stay. We even took selfies with a lot of staff on our last day, which will surely be our unforgettable memories. There are so much more left to say, but we truly recommend you to give Lobigili a try.
