The hotel

In the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love and ‘Gili’ means island, so therefore Lobigili is, in essence, the island of love. If you’re looking for a romantic trip for two, this is it. Set in an idyllic location with white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, the adult-only OBLU SELECT Lobigili offers some experiences to make this a trip you will never forget. The largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Only BLU offers modern gourmet cuisine with a front row seat to the coral reef – and it’s included in the excellent Lobi Plan. This indulgent plan also includes a complimentary sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip, so you’ll get to see the best of the island and it’s surroundings after that relax with the included spa treatments. Both the beachfront and over water suites have a modern feel with semi open-air bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, why not upgrade to the water pool villa for that added luxury of a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon.

Where is it

Located on the island of Lobigili, just 15 minutes North West of Male International Airport by boat. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport.

68 stylishly designed villas, all with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, complimentary mini-bar replenished daily, robe and slippers, hairdryer, flat-screen LCD TV, in-room safe, separate bath tub and rain shower, and complimentary WiFi access. All villas have 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

SunNest Beach Pool Villas feature an open air bathroom, cosy veranda, walk-in wardrobe, and a private pool just steps from the beach.

All Inclusive - The Lobi Plan: includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Ylang-Ylang. Selection of freshly prepared local snacks served between 4:00-6:00pm at The Swing Bar. One a la carte fine dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Only BLU (pre-booking required, subject to availability). One dining experience per guest per each four nights stayed at Gaadiya 17 Food Truck. Unlimited orders from a wide selection of liquor and premium wines at Ylang Ylang and The Swing Bar, and unlimited orders of signature cocktails from a selected list at The Swing Bar. Soft drinks, mineralised water, and an assortment of tea and coffee available at all outlets. Complimentary use of snorkelling equipment throughout the stay. Complimentary selection of non-motorised water sports. One complimentary sunset fishing trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). One complimentary snorkelling guide trip per guest per stay (weather permitting). In-villa minibar replenished daily with an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with a selection of snacks. Unlimited access to the over water gymnasium. Daily live music performances at The Swing Bar. One 45 minute spa treatment per person per every 4 night stay (4 night minimum stay required).

Nest Water Villas are situated over the ocean with direct lagoon access, an outdoor shower, and a private overwater hammock.

SunNest Water Pool Villas are similar to the Water Villas, with the addition of a private infinity pool.

We transitioned here from their sister property, Sangeli, and the experience was elevated by a level of service that felt truly personal rather than programmed. The Vibe & The "Lobi" Aesthetic Forget the "rustic shipwreck" vibe; Lobigili is a sophisticated, cosmopolitan sanctuary. The convenience of a 15-minute speedboat transfer from Malé is an absolute game-changer—you are in paradise while others are still waiting in a lounge. Upon arrival, the signature rose welcome sets a romantic tone that the General Manager and our host, Alpi, maintained throughout our stay. The resort exudes a tranquil, adult-centric calm. While entertainment is minimal, the option exists to visit the livelier neighboring island for a change of pace. However, we never felt the need to leave; the atmosphere at Lobigili is naturally social, and we enjoyed wonderful conversations with other couples at the bar. The "social hub" by the infinity pool feels like a high-end Mediterranean beach club—watching dolphins skip past the pool’s edge while sipping cocktails was a core memory for us. Culinary Excellence The all-inclusive offering here is generous and high-caliber: Only BLU: The underwater dining experience is surreal, offering an immersive view of marine life in a refined setting. Gaadiya: The lobster dinner (supplement applies) was succulent and well worth the addition. The Marketplace: The Gala dinner was a gastronomic triumph—diverse, fresh, and beautifully presented. The Gold Standard of Service While the entire team is stellar, a few individuals redefined hospitality for us: Alpi (Our Host): A total star. She went the extra mile daily, ensuring chilled watermelon juice was delivered to our overwater villa every morning without us asking. Shilo & the Bar Team: They went to great lengths to source specialty beers for me and curated sophisticated, balanced cocktails throughout our stay. Elin & Rashka: Our waitstaff were the heartbeat of our dining experience—always radiant, impeccably professional, and one step ahead of our needs. Niheart (Sangeli): A special mention for his "seamless handover." He personally briefed the team and introduced us to the Spa Manager, ensuring we were treated like royalty before our boat even docked. Honest Expectations: Nature & Clarity For the discerning traveler, it’s worth noting that the proximity to Malé means the island feels more "curated" than wild. Due to local dredging projects, the water clarity on the house reef can be temperamental, and the marine density isn't quite as robust as the more remote atolls. However, for a seamless, high-luxury honeymoon where you are pampered from start to finish, these are minor trade-offs.
