Our stay at the OBLU Sangeli since the 4th December is simply fantastic. Already on arrival you can feel that you have landed here on a very special island. Normally we write our reviews only after the holidays, here we already know after five days of stay that nothing can go wrong anymore. The atmosphere is relaxed, the surroundings heavenly and the island itself incredibly well-kept and beautifully designed - a real postcard motif. We would especially like to highlight the service: The entire team is exceptionally friendly, attentive and warm - always with a smile and an honest interest in the well-being of the guests. Every wish is almost read from your lips, without even having to ask for it. This combination of professionalism and genuine warmth makes the stay incomparable. The OBLU Sangeli also convinces all along the line. The selection of dishes is varied and at the highest level - from international delicacies to finely coordinated Maldivian specialties. Also noteworthy is the beautiful spa area, which offers pure relaxation - surrounded by tropical tranquility and with excellently trained staff. The adults-only area provides an oasis of peace, ideal for switching off and enjoying. We were equally enthusiastic about the compact, but perfectly equipped gym, which motivates with a breathtaking view of the light blue sea - training with a feel-good guarantee! It is also nice to see that sustainability and environmentally friendly behavior are practiced here at Oblu Sangeli in order to protect this paradise on earth in the best possible way. We would like to thank Lasith and Lahiru in particular from the excellent pool bar team. Her warm manner, her professionalism and her sense of good atmosphere have sweetened us every evening and made our stay something very special. In short: The OBLU Sangeli offers a service that is second to none, in a dreamlike environment with people who are with heart and passion. Selecting the right resort/atoll in the Maldives is no easy task. The choice is huge. We were drawn to Oblu Select based on the positive reviews, its all inclusive offering and promise of an 'adult only' area, should we need to escape. After a 1 hour boat transfer from Male, we arrived to a warm reception on the jetty and introduction to Nazeel, our dedicated contact for the duration of our stay. We'd selected the one of the Honeymoon suites and while we waited for the room to be ready, we relaxed at the bar and looked out at the ocean. We downloaded the hotel App, which provides a great overview of the resort, the facilities and allows online reservations for the a la carte restaurants and booking the array of activities available. This was our first visit to the Maldives and aside from the variable weather, Oblu Select was a delight for our 5 night stay. The resort is made up of 2 islands. The main island comprises the beach front accommodation, principal bar (The Sangs) and main restaurant (The Courtyard). The second island, the adults-only One Banyan Island, is reached via a wooden jetty, lined with overwater bungalows. This island is home to both of the à la carte restaurants, Just Grill and Just Wok and the excellent Spa. Close by are the Honeymoon Suites, on their own wooden jetty. Getting about can involve a fair amount of walking, but there are plenty of buggies to take you around the resort and drop you where required. The Honeymoon Suite was superb. Spacious and well appointed, with a large comfortable round bed and large outdoor shower. The view of the ocean from the sun deck and private pool is stunning and is perfect to watch the sunset. I've attached some photos of the room. It's well worth the upgrade. Direct access to the lagoon from the sundeck and snorkeling equipment is provided for the duration of your stay. It's also handy for the a la carte restaurants, spa and One Banyan Island. The Honeymoon Suite also comes with champagne chilling on arrival and some novelty options, like a 'floating breakfast' in your private pool. The spa is excellent. We had a couple of treatments and the massages were some of the best Ive ever had. If you're feeling energetic, there is a small but well equipped 'overwater' gym.....but it's located by the main island. All Inclusive Premium Serenity Plan includes: Breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Courtyard, selected drinks including spirits, wines, beers, cocktails, soft drinks and mineral water, 1 x fine dining experience at either Just Wok or Just Grill for guests staying 1 to 3 nights; 2 x fine dining experiences for guests staying 4 to 7 nights. 1 x 45-minute spa treatment per person for 4 to 7-night stays at the resort, 2 x treatments for 8 to 11-night stays, snorkelling equipment and In-villa minibar replenished daily. The food is excellent. The main restaurant (The Courtyard) offers an extensive breakfast, with egg station, and a selection to suit all tastes. Likewise for lunch and dinner. It's buffet only for food with table service for drinks. Between the superb food and flowing drinks, be prepared to gain some weight.....or find time to visit the gym. The a la carte restaurants, Just Wok and Just Grill are also very good. It's unfortunate that bookings are limited, based on duration of stay. They book up quickly, so get them booked asap when you arrive but be aware, you might have limited time slots available and end up with the last sitting of the evening. Not a problem if you don't mind eating late. This is table service from a limited menu. The service was friendly but somewhat brisk, with the each course arriving in very quick succession, as if they wanted to close up the restaurant for the evening. The adults-only One Banyan Island pool is overlooked by the a la carte restaurants. It's something of a forgotten location and was quiet and understaffed during the day. The ocean views are a little hidden by vegetation and there is no access to the ocean from the adult only area. The lunch menu available is limited to pub grub (fish and chips, burgers) which stands in contrast to the great food selection available at The Courtyard. It's also somewhat surprising as the two a la carte restaurants (also open for lunch) are literally overlooking the adult pool. The adult only One Banyan Island was a big selling point for the resort, but ironically, it turned out to be the least impressive area. We spent more time on our own sun deck. The staff were superb - each and every one. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the stay eve more memorable. They are a credit to the resort. Our stay at OBLU SELECT Sangeli was, overall, an exceptional experience marked by beautiful surroundings, immaculate villas, and genuinely warm hospitality throughout the island. The dining options were consistently impressive, and the staff across departments elevated our stay in countless ways. Me and my wife stayed in both the water villas with private pool and the beach villa with private pool, and both were absolutely spectacular. The water villas offered a perfect mix of privacy and breathtaking views of the turquoise ocean—waking up to the sunrise over the water was magical. The private pool was a wonderful bonus for a refreshing dip anytime we wanted. The beach villa was equally amazing, with direct access to the pristine white sand beach and a gorgeous pool surrounded by lush greenery. Both accommodations were spacious, elegantly designed, and stocked with everything we needed for a luxurious stay. The resort as well offers excellent dining options, fun activities, and a peaceful ambiance that makes it perfect for couples to unwind in paradise. Furthermore, we want to express a huge and heartfelt thank you to the exceptional staff who made our visit unforgettable: Adam – Assistant Front Office Manager: Ensured our entire stay went smoothly. His gesture of allowing us to stay longer in the villa beyond the standard 12nn checkout was deeply appreciated. Sadin – Supervisor: Attentive, approachable, and consistently helpful during our stay. Rini – Reception: Warm, welcoming, and efficient, making every interaction pleasant. Dilanka – Restaurant Manager: Oversaw everything with professionalism and warm attention. Thanks for the bonus main course at our Just Grill dinner — our bellies are still celebrating and refusing to go back to normal. LOL! Shiva – Assistant F&B Manager: Always attentive and ensured we were well taken care of at all times. Ismail – Guest Relations Officer: Friendly, supportive, and always ready to assist with a smile. Rahul – Chef Cook: Delivered excellent dishes that made our moments in the courtyard truly memorable. You definitely pampered us with the food you prepared. Michel – Salad Maker: She always prepared my delicious salad. Every time she sees me, she already knows what I want and makes it perfectly in no time. Shoag & Momo – Excursions & Snorkeling Team: Provided excellent snorkeling guidance and excursion support — knowledgeable, patient, and enthusiastic. Shoag, thank you for letting us borrow your personal snorkeling mask, Highly appreciated. Dheenu – F&B Attendant: Served our meals with warmth and then surprised us with his hidden talent of photography. During his break, he even treated us to a complimentary photoshoot and videography session. The cinematic video he created was amazing — a heartfelt and totally unexpected gesture that added a wonderfully special touch to our stay. Lasith – Bar Personnel: Served our favorite liquor drinks with consistency and great hospitality. Kelly – Kids Club Team: Although part of the Kids Club, she never failed to bring joy and entertain us with her cheerful personality during her break time with the kids. Sanchari & Tharuniu – Bar Baristas: Crafted our favorite cocktails perfectly each time — true masters of their craft. Kadeer – Housekeeping: Impeccable in keeping our villa spotless. His honeymoon décor on our first day created an unforgettable moment, and his daily towel-art creations — each a different animal — were truly amazing and added joy to our stay. Shaikat – Buggy Driver: Always on time, friendly, and helpful with transportation around the island. Ari & Dulma – Spa Therapists: Delivered excellent massages that left us relaxed and refreshed during the last day of our stay. Prashant – Engineering Supervisor: Ever-reliable, even late at night, to promptly address and fix the shower issue in our villa. A Special Mention to Riza Tacasan – Reservation Specialist: A remarkable and genuinely caring individual who supported us from the very beginning — from booking, coordinating with various departments, ensuring our comfort throughout our stay, and even up to our departure. We've just returned from 11 nights at the Oblu Select Sangeli hotel, staying 6 nights in a beach villa with pool, and then 5 nights in an over water villa with pool. We had a truly wonderful time and definitely didn't want to go home! All the staff were incredible, always smiling and saying hello to us which made us feel truly welcomed. We especially wanted to thank and acknowledge Inashaa for always greeting us with a smile and lovely chat every time we visited The Courtyard restaurant, Nazeel for always stopping to talk to us to find out how our day had been, and Lasith who made us the most incredible Negronis on our last evening there - we wished we'd found you sooner!! Also, the wonderful chap who took us snorkelling for Turtles on Saturday 29th November (sorry...i can't remember your name!) who navigated us through the incredible world of wonder that surrounds the island. We managed to spot 5 turtles that day - something i will never forget! The food was amazing and as a vegetarian there was plenty of choice. The labelling really helped me spot the veggie & vegan food without any stress or anxiety. The drinks/cocktails were amazing and the team at The Sangs bar were always very attentive and brilliant at what they did. The weather was a bit 'mixed' with some rainy days, but it was always wonderfully warm even if it rained, so didn't impact our experience at all. The rooms were lovely and the pool was a perfect addition, especially for those early morning or late night dips. Housekeeping was excellent and even popped in during the evening to turn on the lights and 'turn down' the bed - a simple touch that just added to the whole experience. We also had a couple of massages free through the hotel's Serenity plan which were fabulously relaxing. The beach was beautiful and the snorkelling was incredible - it felt like we were swimming in an aquarium! We spotted/swam with black tip & white tip sharks, eagle rays, blotched rays and sting rays plus two turtles just off the beach. The hundreds of different fish we saw was mind blowing - wow what an incredible place! We especially enjoyed the talk given by Giorgia Maggioni (the resident marine biologist) and loved watching the live underwater webcam on the TV. We also adopted a couple of turtles as Xmas gifts which I hope will help a little towards the on-going conservation work on the island. Overall we had a wonderful time and definitely want to go back (at a different time of year so we can see the Manta Rays).
