Where is it
On the north-western edge of the Malé Atoll, this resort is set over two small islands linked by a curve of water villas, with the spa and two restaurants on the smaller island, and most other amenities on the larger island. Complimentary speedboat transfer to and from Malé International Airport: 50 minutes, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On arrival day, guests will be met by representatives at the airport and escorted to the speedboat jetty. A boat host will be on hand to ensure a smooth journey.

We spent our vacation snorkeling, swimming, relaxing on the beach and drinking/eating. The snorkeling right off the property was gorgeous, we saw plenty of marine life and the reef around the property has been well taken care of by the hotel.

The beach villa was lovely, huge comfy bed, great air-conditioning, lots of storage and also a day bed and large beanbag to relax on. The outdoor bathroom was lovely. Excellent shower with lots of hot water and luxurious bath. Bath foam, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion all provided. The towels were large and soft. The mini bar was kept stocked and requests for alternatives could be made (we switched full sugar soft drinks for Coke Zero and red wine for extra white wine and rose). The beach villa was really private and you really felt like you were walking on your own private beach as you stepped out.
All the communal areas were beautiful, clean and well maintained. The main beach and the pool lovely. Drinks service at the beach and pool area was excellent. (All staff serving were fabulous but special mention to Kyra).
All food was an excellent quality, varied and plentiful. The meals at Just Wok and Just Grill were also great. (Although our only mosquito bites were acquired whilst eating at Just Wok! even wearing repellant).
We had two complementary spa treatments during our stay. The ladies were knowledgable and treatments wonderful. My husband (who has never been inside a spa), is a convert! The gym was well equipped and the two trainers in the gym were both knowledgable and helpful with the equipment. We used the gym four times during our stay. The gym is positioned to see the sharks and other fish whilst training. Amman and his team run a great snorkelling trip to the outer reef. They pointed out several corals and an eel during one trip and we saw 5 sharks on the other trip.
The staff at this resort make it! Special mentions to:
Ardhi who even before we arrived scheduled our dinners and snorkel trips, then made amendments when our plans changed.
Bappi, who serviced our room, and provided bed decoration and towel sculptures. Miraz who maintained our mini-bar.
Moe and Sia who greeted us at the Courtyard restaurant every day with beautiful smiles and conversation . Mohammed and Sam who provided excellent service at lunch and dinner (lots of others too). Vijay sous chef who made us curries from his homeland when we wanted something different to the buffet. Deepak who personalised our lunches with special soups. Sridhar for his beautiful pastries and deserts. SM Rony who prepared us a fruit bowl every morning and Panwar who made us beautiful omelettes for breakfast (remembering our order daily).
My only slight negative comments are regarding the wine selection. There are 4 rose and 8 white wines listed on the menu. On our whole stay there were never more than 1 rose and 4 whites and on some days before their next supply arrived there was no rose wine left and they could only offer Chardonnay as a white wine.

We recently spent two weeks in this resort as a group of two couples, and had a fantastic time.
The staff are probably among the most consistently friendly and helpful staff we have encountered anywhere in the world we have stayed. From the moment you step off the bot and into reception, the staff cannot do enough to help. Our check-in with Laura was very smooth and efficient.
We had a water villa for the first part of our stay, and upgraded to a water villa with pool for the last few days, the room layout is identical except the room with pool also has a bigger balcony area overall. Both rooms were in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. A special mention to our room attendant Sikdar and the housekeeping manager Sangeeta who were so helpful and made our stay really comfortable.
Food across the resort was good quality in both the buffet restaurant and in the a la carte restaurants (Just grill and Just Wok). The buffet restaurant had a good selection of international food as well as highly choice of Indian and Asian food. Naan breads cooked fresh on the tandoor were a particular highlight. The station chefs were very friendly and helpful, and particularly executive chef Rahul who was keen to cater for all our needs. From the two a la carte restaurants, both were good quality but we preferred Just Wok for the overall experience and variety of dishes.
The resort gym was well equipped considering the overall size of the island, and has a stunning view of the lagoon. The personal trainer Pari was very skilled and friendly and we attended his daily Yoga classes at the Rocks bar in the morning. Definitely worth the early start in the morning.
Overall we had a fantastic time and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this resort.

Wow .. we spent 10 days at the Oblu Sangeli and we had the most amazing time. It's quite honestly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The service was better than 5* .. from the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff couldn't do enough for us.
We stayed in an over water bungalow with a pool which has always been my dream and I was not disappointed. Our accomodation was perfect and the island was the paradise you would expect in the Maldives. The snorkelling on the house reef was amazing and we regularly saw sharks and sting rays from our bungalow. As if being in the Maldives wasn't enough.. the staff made it even more special. I want to mention a few people but feel bad for forgetting some individuals. All staff were incredible .
First and foremost thanks so much to Sikdar. Sikdar sorted our room every day and honestly couldn't do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Chatting to him every day really did make our holiday. Not to mention the animals he skillfully made out of towels every day. What a guy!
The restaurant staff were brilliant.. Rahul the chef happily made us meals on request in addition to everything in the buffet. The food was brilliant. Special thanks for the daily eggs benedict and also the brilliant salads made up individually. Sia greeted us in the restaurant for every meal with a smile and made the experience special.
The staff in the bar were attentive, bringing us cocktails during the day and plenty of wine in the evening. Special mention to Kyra and Madhyh and there was someone else who really looked after us the first week but we missed him on the last couple of days and have forgotten his name. It's hard to single out though as everyone gave great service and were so friendly.
We spent our evenings listening to the amazing Dee and Jay perform. What a brilliant duo.. they were more than happy to take all of our requests and they had a huge range of songs to keep everyone entertained. They were brilliant and it really made our holiday special listening to them every evening. What a lovely couple too.
Other little mentions to Ali and the team who took us on the snorkelling and fishing trip. Ali was so kind and sorted a clinic visit for my husband after he cut his head on a buoy. He took us and waited for us in his buggy.
I could go on all day . It was a trip of a lifetime for us and the Oblu Sangeli delivered on every front. Thanks to everyone for making our Maldives holiday so special.
Things to improve .. hard to think of anything but I'd say giving guests water when they are at the airport for the speedboat trip would be very welcome and perhaps some nice sparkling wine as a choice on the sunset fishing trip.
