OBLU SELECT Sangeli

We arrived at Oblu Select Sangeli for 7 nights and were greeted in the traditional warm Maldivian way. Stayed in an over water villa where the only view was the ocean and the reef which could be accessed from our villa. Bring beech shoes as makes it far easier to navigate round the coral. Unbelievable amount of fish literally on your doorstep ! Our water villa was stunning and spacious especially the walk in wardrobe which had plenty of room and space to store large cases. Enjoy a bath or shower looking over the ocean. Fazan kept our room lovely and each night did the turn down service which was lovely to return to. During the day at the Sangs bar and beach we were well looked after by Firey, Javvid and Absol who kept us well hydrated and were attentive but not over the top either. They shared with us their lives, customs and island living. They maintained their warm friendly manner the entire time we were there. A massive thank you to the 3 amigoes ! The food is exceptional and I never thought I would be eating curry for breakfast but Nahid at the Indian station made that a daily accordance and again his warmy and kindness shone through. Tory was my husbands favourite on the pasta station. Very friendly , always remembered his name and had a keen interest in how we were enjoying our holiday . A big thank you to khan on egg station who made the best scrambled eggs and he too was also so warm and friendly. All the hosts at the courtyard were so lovely but especially kelina whose smile was infectious . Need to mention the entertainment from Zacci . Made our last day fab with the shot line and water polo! Not to mention his singing that night. Would love if he did a set during the day as created an amazing vibe . In conclusion this resort is amazing , we were treated to a warm gently breeze the entire duration of our stay and would never tire of looking at the powder white sand and turquoise water .We can’t speak highly enough of every member of staff and their natural warmth and friendly manner. We wish we could mention them all xx the Maldives were on our bucket list and was the same if not better that the pictures on line. This is a must go to resort and we cannot fault it in any way. The most wonderful holiday. Memories made of Sangali will last forever. The villa with pool was just stunning, and cleaned daily to a very high standard. Restaurants were beautiful with delicious food. What made the holiday was the staff who were kind caring and could not do enough for you. A special mention to Frank who really was at our beck & call, he’s just fantastic and very knowledgeable about the island. He was very kind caring and really helped us have the best experience. Every hotel needs a Frank what an asset to the company. What a wonderful holiday, it was perfect in every way. We cannot fault this wonderful island called Sangeli in the Maldives. The island is stunning, with crystal-clear turquoise water, soft white sand, and breathtaking sunsets that never get old. The spa treatments included in our stay were perfect. We never tried the water sports, but the snorkelling was fantastic. To us, it was pure paradise; everything felt effortlessly luxurious and relaxed. From the moment we arrived, the welcome back/home (as it was our second visit) was so special; it made us feel very important! Sam at reception made our stay truly special. The surprise on his face when he saw us and remembered us from last year was a picture. From the moment we arrived, Sam was welcoming, professional, and incredibly attentive. He went out of his way to make sure everything was smooth and stress-free, always greeting us with a smile and a genuine willingness to help. His knowledge, efficiency, and kindness really stood out and added so much to our overall experience. Sam is a real asset to the resort and a big reason we felt so well looked after. Thank you, Sam, for making our stay unforgettable! We had a water villa which was spacious, modern, and beautifully designed, offering total privacy and comfort. Waking up to the ocean view and stepping straight into the lagoon felt unreal. The housekeeping and attention to detail were flawless throughout our stay; everything from beach bags to shaving kits is included in the room. Snacks and drinks replenished daily; thank you to our room boy, Thurkey, for always making sure we had all that we needed. We were treated to true VIP service throughout our visit, especially when it came to dining in the Courtyard, where we would be met by the lovely Sia who would take us to our table. Then Mohammad and his team would serve us with drinks a smile and a bit of banta. However, Chef Rahul was absolutely exceptional. Each morning at breakfast, he would ask us what we’d like for dinner that evening, and sometimes lunch, and then somehow exceed every expectation. My goodness — every single dish was amazing. Each meal felt personal, thoughtful, and genuinely special. Thank you to Rahul and your team! Every meal we had at The Grill on Banyan Island was absolutely amazing. Sitting outside with our feet in the sand made it even more special, and we were greeted by the lovely Edina, who was genuinely pleased to see us again this year. It was such a lovely touch that she remembered us. This was our second visit with friends (who we met there), and we were surprised with a special meal from the team, which was completely unexpected and so thoughtful. We had the option to choose from either of the restaurants, and once again, we couldn’t fault a single thing. The chefs from both restaurants came out to speak to us after our meals, which was another really nice personal touch. A special thank you to you both and to Chef Bhuvan for making sure the bacon was on the chicken burger when we had lunch by the pool (again, nothing was ever too much trouble). Another unforgettable experience from start to finish. At Banyan Island, the adults-only pool area, the service was just as outstanding. Ranjan greeted us each morning with our favourite drinks without us ever having to ask, which made us feel incredibly well looked after. In the afternoons, Vinney created cocktails perfectly suited to our tastes as he got to know what we enjoyed — every drink was fantastic. Nothing was ever too much trouble for either of them, and their care and attention truly elevated our time at the adults-only pool. Overall, Sangeli Maldives is the perfect escape for anyone seeking luxury, tranquillity, and exceptional service. We had high expectations of this potential holiday of a lifetime. After spending nine nights in a water villa with a pool, I can honestly say Oblu Select Sangeli exceeded our expectations. If we were able to return in the future we wouldn’t want to change anything. The deluxe water villa proved to be the right choice for us and every aspect of the resort from the food to the beaches was exceptional. I must single out one aspect that really lifted the holiday onto a new level and that was the staff. To say everyone was friendly and helpful doesn’t them justice, we have stayed many places where you could say the staff have been ‘friendly and helpful’, here we were made to feel special. Even the managers would approach you to see that you were happy. I’m not going to mention any names because I don’t want to miss anyone out and the list would be long. I’m not in the habit of recommending holidays, it’s all about personal experiences, but I will say we spoke to a number of return guests, guests that intended to return again and guests who had holidayed at other Maldivian resorts who preferred this one and we never heard a word of criticism Read less

Our 3rd trip to the Maldives and our second visit to Oblu Sengeli which in itself tells you something. We had a fabulous holiday and everything written in prior reviews about the resort is so true. The one thing that makes it for us are the staff.....they are all just completely brillant, friendly and so considerate however special mention this trip goes to Adam, Shifaz, Sia, Mohamed, Happy (yes really), Edina and Shamhaan. Prior visit we had stayed in a beach villa with pool however as the villa is right on the beach we found we never used the pool so this trip we stayed in a beach villa without pool and it wasn't missed. Our villa was down the end by the reception and close by where the boats are moored. This might not sure everyone as there can be some days quite a bit of activity however it worked well for us as it's also near Sangs bar so absolutely no complaints! If you think you want more peace and quiet then ask for a villa down the other end of the beach villas 120 > 135..... however your pina colada might be melted when you get back to your villa Of course in any resort/hotel you can always find something amiss or not 100% however the staff will always endeavour to put things right to ensure you have a great holiday. For us, on arrival we felt we wanted a table and couple chairs outside the villa on the veranda so we could sit and relax in the evenings. We also felt the two beach sunbeds were of an older type and uncomfortable. Both issues were resolved by Shifaz within minutes of our request. Nothing is too much trouble so if you visit Sengeli and need anything just ask. I could go on about the buffet food, the two a la carte resturants, the spa, the snorkeling experiences etc. just take it from me everything is fantastic and Oblu Select Sengeli is truly a 5* resport.
