Fantastic Family Stay!

From the minute we arrived we were impressed! Our family of 4 (2A,2C) stayed for 5D4N in a family beach villa, this was an easy, shaded walk to dining and on a protected beach facing east. The room itself was spacious, well designed and detailed, with no little detail forgotten. The kids bunk room was more spacious than expected and well played out. Space for storing our 4 suitcases and wardrobe and cupboard space for everyone. Bathrooms were well sized and played out and little amenities packs for essentials you may have forgotten. Housekeeping was always around and did a fantastic job keeping the room pressing, well done to Dhaain - thank you! The beach outside our room was soft white sand and fine coral, and plenty of cute little hermit crabs to watch generally early in the morning and later in the day, hiding in the shaded trees in-between. Our son loved watching them and trying to count them all. The snorkelling in this location is limited, as it’s a protected lagoon, noting also Oblu is a man made island, but for swimming it’s fantastic. The bedding and stocked mini bar as well as finishings and room location was great.
Food / Dining - The self service style at Oblu works really well, you can pour your beer to your hearts content at the main buffet restaurant. There is also cold cans of beer in the fridge for grab and go. The glasses are kept refrigerated also - nice touch! Food selection is endless, we all had something to enjoy each sitting and never got to try it all - there was so much to choose from. The x360 bar is quick to serve and cocktails were great, though we are mostly beer drinkers. Our kids loved they could order what they want, when they wanted. We all tucked into the popcorn each day too, this was a nice little snack to go with many drinks! 2 popcorn machines are kept topped up daily, help yourself. There are also afternoon snacks served on a station here around 430pm each day. You’ll never be hungry or thirsty, there is always something.
The facilities at Oblu are all about fun and enjoying your surroundings. The water slide and trampoline were fun, our kids also loved the jet car and the jet ski rides. The pool is huge and there are always sundress to choose from, no need to reserve spots and hurry from brekky to get one! There’s also plenty of activities, the foam party was a fun highlight of our first day, and we enjoyed the daily water Zumba and water polo.
Being World Cup time and a boy who lives his soccer, he was thrilled to play with the staff in 2 night matches. Thanks to the team for embracing us annd his wish list “to do in Maldives” into your games!
We booked Only Blu underwater restaurant for lunch (kids can only go at lunch time) and put this up as a highlight too. View of marine life here is wonderful, we saw plenty of fish, a big green turtle and a shark. The food was delicious, steak cooked to perfection and plenty to choose from, well done chef! The staff here were lovely too, Shani, Rochelle and Pinki - service timed very well and to the standard you’d expect of a fine dining restaurant. As this trip is around 3 of our birthdays, we even got made a surprise gourmet chocolate birthday cake! This was also delicious.
The size of the pool and resort means you can space out, socialise with others as much as you like or keep to yourself.
The boat ride is short, 10-15 minutes each way and in lovely new speed boats. Greeting at the airport was smooth and quick, well done to Ray for first impressions!
Overall we loved our stay and were sad to leave, we will likely be back! We would rate this resort well up there if not near the very top of our recommended list, having been to several resorts in the Maldives before. Highly recommended for families, couples, or even groups travelling together.
