The hotel

Embrace island life at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi, a lively retreat driven by smart services, playful design, and incredible experiences. You'll arrive in style with a complimentary speedboat transfer, and as soon as you reach the island of Ailafushi, you're sure to feel relaxed - after all, you'll be surrounded by stunning sea views, soft warm sands, and plenty of Maldivian charm! On the Fushi PlanTM, you'll enjoy delicious meals from Element X's impressive show kitchens and expansive buffet, before heading to X360 for a refreshing drink to accompany the entertainment of the night. Non-motorised water sports are included for 15 minutes a day, as is use of the over-water gym, so those who like to keep active will have lots to enjoy. This is a fun, lively island with lots going on including the daily DJ around the pool and live bands in the evening, but if you fancy making your stay even more special, why not head underneath it? A trip to Only BLU, the underwater restaurant, is an absolute must for a meal that you'll never forget.

Where is it

Located on Ailafushi Island in Male Atoll, and connected to the neighbouring island OBLU SELECT Lobigili by a 270m long jetty. Complimentary speedboat transfer from Velana International Airport on arrival and departure, taking approximately 15 minutes.

Hotel information

268 rooms, all with ocean views, in-villa WiFi access, safe, large flat screen LCD TV, cable TV, vanity, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, drinking water bottles, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and robe and slippers. Ocean View Rooms are snug, homey, duplex-style one-bedroom villas, smartly designed to maximise space and comfort, and with a veranda with comfy daybed. With 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

All-Inclusive - The Fushi PlanTM

Beach Villas are just a few steps from the beach, with a private outdoor veranda and garden, inviting interior, walk-in wardrobe leading to a spa-like bathroom, double vanity, and a semi open-air bathroom. With 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Water Villas stretch into the dazzling lagoon, and are accessed by wooden jetty. Each water villa is shaped like a traditional Maldivian Boat – a ‘dhoni’ – creating a feeling of a romantic hideaway. With a private deck, and a staircase into the water, and a semi open-air bathroom. 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Ocean Family Two Bedrooms are the same as the Ocean View Rooms, with the addition of a second bedroom with bunkbeds in a story book theme for children, 2 bathrooms, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children.

Element X (all-day dining, self-assisted buffet with international cuisine and show kitchens). X360 (main pool bar with scenic lagoon views, daily evening entertainment). The Copper Pot Food Truck (food truck with seafood and meat grills, open for dinner)*. Only BLU (under ocean restaurant open for lunch and dinner. Adult-only except for select lunchtimes when children are welcomed to dine)*.

We had a really enjoyable stay at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi. The resort territory is clean, well-maintained and very pleasant. One thing we especially appreciated was the buggy transportation around the resort, which made getting from one place to another much more comfortable and convenient. Our Water Villa was great — clean, comfortable and with a very comfortable bed. The shower was excellent and everything was well maintained. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed our experience at Only Blu restaurant, where the service was excellent. A special thank you to Devi, who was a very kind and attentive waitress and made our visits even more enjoyable. The food was tasty, with plenty of desserts, but unfortunately the variety was quite limited and the meals could become repetitive during a longer stay. The drinks and cocktails were good quality, especially the beer. We also liked that beer was available both in cans/plastic cups and from the self-service taps. The swimming pool was really nice and enjoyable. The beach, however, was probably one of the weaker points for us because of the rocky/stone entrance, which made getting into the water somewhat uncomfortable. On the other hand, the ocean itself was beautiful, with plenty of fish to see, and we really enjoyed spending time in the water. We also appreciated the bathroom hygiene sets provided for both “him” and “her”. They included everything you might need, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, a comb, cotton pads, cotton buds, plasters and other useful items. It was a small detail, but a very thoughtful one. A couple of things could definitely be improved. The Wi-Fi does not work properly across the entire resort, and Safari unfortunately does not function everywhere either, which can be inconvenient if you need internet access in certain areas. Overall, we had a great vacation at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi. The clean surroundings, comfortable Water Villa, good-quality food and drinks, friendly staff, beautiful marine life and convenient buggy transportation made our stay very enjoyable.
