Nice, but not worth the price

My experience at Open was decent, but nothing special. And considering the price point I find this poor. I understand the Maldives are expensive but there are much more affordable and better quality options.

My experience at Open was decent, but nothing special. And considering the price point I find this poor. I understand the Maldives are expensive but there are much more affordable and better quality options.

The spa was lovely and offered a large array of treatments, as well as two vouchers per person for complimentary treatments, including massages, couples massages, facials, and manicures. There were also complimentary snorkelling trips daily which were amazing. There was a wide variety of beach and pool side seating, however I found the pool to be poorly maintained as the water was very murky.
Food and drink- 2.5/5
The main restaurant was subpar. The breads and pastries at the buffet were often stale and dry, as were the deserts. Overall the food was flawed, watery omelettes, food served warm instead of hot, etc. The live cooking stations however were decent. As well as the food the lay out of the main restaurant was poor, the indoor section for the main buffet food was very small and had a tiny singular doorway that was awkward to navigate, especially when busy. the seating areas were mostly sand and very lopsided, we were often eating our meals on an angle. We also found M6M to leave more to be desired, the atmosphere and concept were lovely but the food was less so, same with the Maldivian restaurant. As for drinks, the overall selection was lacking, especially in wines. The speciality Indian and Chinese however were great.

The service in general was incredible. Staff were usually fast and attentive, and always trying their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Our butler was fantastic, managing activity and restaurant bookings, and arranging buggies for us to travel around the island. Our room cleaner however did not meet expectations, with our room often being left without toiletries being refilled and towels not being folded.

The bedroom itself was decent. With a good size, view, complimentary goods, and comfortable beds. My main complaint would be the bathrooms. From my understanding, all showers and baths are outdoors. Despite having walls around you, it leaves you feeling exposed and uneasy, especially as there is a large glass door leading into the rest of the bathroom. Zero privacy. If a room cleaner was to walk into the bathroom while you were showering outdoors you would immediately be exposed to them, especially as a woman I found this awful. Not to mention having to fight off mosquitoes and the humidity as I try and wash my hair!
I enjoyed our stay overall but wouldn't go again and probably wouldn't recommend. If you can find somewhere better (and at a lower price point), I'd recommend you opt for them instead.
