Our Best Sandals Experience Yet My wife and I just returned from a 5-night stay at Sandals Dunn’s River for our 5th anniversary, and this was hands down our favorite Sandals experience yet. This was our third Sandals trip in the last five years, and for the first time ever, I was in absolutely NO SHAPE OR FORM ready to go home. Usually by the end of a vacation you’re ready to sleep in your own bed again. This wasn’t one of those trips. We did a private transfer through a company called junior fun tours. I would highly suggest requesting Lester. He was fantastic and made us feel safe and at home. Sandals does do a shuttle that is through the resort which I’m sure is awesome. However , they ask guests if they want to stop on the drive to the resort to shop or snack and due to it being an hour and a half drive to the resort we wanted NO part of that. We just wanted to get to the resort asap. The biggest reason for the quality of the trip was the staff. The entertainment team, or “Funmakers” as they’re called, were literally the difference-maker for this trip. Rebecca-Jane was so kind and welcoming every single day. She always had a smile on her face and made you feel comfortable immediately. Johniel (“Big Sexy”) was incredible. He was always promoting fun without ever being pushy about it. He had a way of getting people involved naturally and was just an awesome person to be around. Jordan (who looks like he’s about 16 years old 😂) was a complete vibe. He was the cool kid that everyone wanted to be around at every event. Akeem was always dancing, laughing, and helping people let loose in the best way possible. And CONNIE… Connie was the life of the party at all times. It honestly felt like whenever Connie showed up, anything instantly became more fun. His energy was contagious and he created some of our favorite memories from the entire trip. The one suggestion I would give to the administration of the resort is that they need to do more pool parties. They were so much fun and there was only one scheduled pool party. Every other day seems doable and I know the funmakers would also love it. Now, onto the food. Overall, the food was very good. Is it the greatest food you’ll ever eat in your life? No. But every restaurant had multiple dishes that were absolutely worth ordering again, and we never struggled to find meals we genuinely enjoyed. What really stood out to us was the service. Every restaurant we visited was beyond welcoming and comforting. The staff consistently made us feel taken care of. The standout restaurant for us was Hunami. CHEF JOHN IS THE MAN. I’ve been a sushi lover for a long time, and we live in California where we’re fortunate to have access to some incredible sushi. Chef John’s sushi stacked up against any high-end sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. He noticed how much my wife and I loved sushi and started bringing out his own creations for us to try. It was truly phenomenal and became one of the biggest highlights of our entire vacation. Also, a huge shoutout to Shaniel. We saw her at four or five different restaurants during our stay, and she was fantastic every single time. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and always made us feel welcomed. Now for the bartenders. I think they have one of the hardest jobs at the resort. Everyone wants their drink immediately, but everyone also wants bartenders to be personable. That’s a difficult balance to maintain. Mario absolutely nailed it. He was efficient while still being genuinely friendly. He would go out of his way to find my wife and me just to have a conversation and check in on us. It never felt forced. Gabrielle, who worked nights at the Rum Club, was phenomenal. He was ready for the party every single night and is honestly one of the best bartenders I’ve ever been around. We had a cabana butler for one day which was the second day we were there. Our butlers name was Najae and he was incredible. He honestly made the service worth it and we wished we had done that one more day. Michael , who was definitely the OG of the pool staff was also great to us throughout the trip. The small stuff that they do like remembering your name and checking on you even when you do not have butler service are the things that make a difference at resorts like this. The best compliment I can give Sandals Dunn’s River is this: I left feeling like I made friends. Not just with other guests, but with the staff too. That’s a rare feeling, especially at a resort this size. If you’re reading negative reviews, just remember that our experience couldn’t have been more different. Every vacation is what you make of it, and we found the staff and service to be exceptional. The negativity of people seems to say more about them than it does the resort and the staff. Sandals Dunn’s River gave us memories we’ll talk about for years, and for the first time after a Sandals vacation, we truly weren’t ready to leave. Better than we expected and we expect a lot from Sandals

This is my mid week review and will do a final review at the end. First off I want to say this is like our 5th trip to Jamaica because the people here on the island seem to be nicest of any island we’ve been to. Not saying others are nice as well but this island we have always been welcomed and taken care of. The people make Sandals resorts not the food or rooms or activities. So in saying that Jashane at the rum club will make your night entertaining and serve you with a smile and laughter . Latona also at the rum club is a perfect partner with Jashane. Her laughter and smile make you feel so welcome and she will take care you every way she can On the beach Danoy is the man. He was the first person in the morning to say hello and is was genuine and he said I’ll be here all day If you need anything at all I’ll take care of you and he came by multiple times to check on us. For pictures there really isn’t anyone better than Sheldon. He will work with you to make sure you have the best session and poses your girl will be thrilled with. Thank you Sheldon. At the French restaurant the service may be the absolute best service we have ever had at a sandals resort. The manger was friendly and the food came so fast and drinks were perfect. Remember there will be some slow service because this is island time so we always try to remember that and not hold is against any restaurant . Our room is cleaned daily and anything we need extras of we just ask and get: The entertainment staff Lady Rebecca, Omanda, Aykeem, Jordan and my other brother from another mother who was born in West Virginia. (Please know who I’m talking about) are so good at making us all feel welcome and important and like it’s a pleasure to entertain us and put up with us .
