I want to start out by saying that I have stayed at Sandals/Beaches multiple times in the past (Grande St. Lucian, Turks and Caicos, Royal Bahamian). I was excited for this stay as the reviews were stellar, I however have mixed feedback about my stay. The resort is beautiful, but the property is not a new build and was refurbished older buildings with some issues left in the construction such as shoddy grout work in the shower. We found that the concierge in Club Sandals was neither friendly or helpful in greeting us upon arrival and did not offer to help with any reservations and any time we went in to Club Sandals we felt like we were unwelcome. Other Club Sandals concierge was exceptional and operated 24 hours, while the one here closed early and were not even open for our check out. Also our room was hot. The air conditioner never got the room below 22c (72f) degrees no matter how low we set it and that was just the area right by the air flow. The washroom was not getting any air and was much warmer. Also, if you're looking for a romantic experience, you may not enjoy the fact that the bathroom is open concept with a toilet in a separated room with a door on it . . . but that door, is glass, not a big deal but highly unusual that there not be a door on the bathroom itself or the toilet stall other than a thin sheet of glass. The bed was hard and you could feel the springs and the sheets were rough and scratchy, very uncomfortable. Some staff at the pool bar were downright rude to guests. One girl rolled her eyes and yelled at customers for not listening. It's a shame because this place could be great. It's not worth the price trust me. And on more than one occasion when walking at night at their sister resort (stay at one play at two) cockroaches ran on my feet and legs. We were also approached on the beach in the jerk shack area by a vendor selling drugs. But even worse, we were also approached by a Sandals employed pool worker who quietly asked if we liked to "party" (there were no events happening at the time) with the insinuation that he was also selling drugs. Also, like others mentioned it's impossible to get a pool chair and towel stations are usually empty except first thing in the morning. One of the pools was closed all day for cleaning on the only sunny day during our stay and the restaurants close on a rotating basis. The breakfast buffet was small for a resort and there was only one other option for a sit-down breakfast and the eggs benedict english muffin was hard and hollandaise sauce was sparse, not to mention whenever we asked for anything (ketchup, juice, cream for coffee etc) it seemed like an imposition. This pushed us back towards the buffet where the selection was limited and repetitive and there was never any butter for the toast station. We only raised one issue during our stay and it was not addressed and no effort was made to rectify it whereas other Sandals resorts have gone above and beyond in this regard. I see this echoed in other reviews about the Management being indifferent so it seems like a trend. This resort was worse than Royal Bahamian for service but way more expensive and has a tight compact boutique size so it always feels like everyone's on top of each other. Save your money and go to a different resort. Hopefully they can get things together when they build the Royal Dunn's River because as of right now you really need to have a butler to have a good experience. Read less

We took the Dunn’s River resort shuttle to Sandals Ochi for dinner On the return trip, we were subjected to a hostile environment, targeted harassment, and life-threatening vehicle operation by a Sandals-employed shuttle driver. We were the only guests on the shuttle who were not part of a large, highly intoxicated group. When the shuttle driver arrived at the lower pier to pick us up, the group who had been picked up before us at the upper hillside area began jeering, booing, and screaming "back of the bus" and "we told him to leave you." Compounding this hostile behavior, the driver shouted from the front demanding our room number. We were forced to announce it loudly in front of this aggressive crowd, prompting them to taunt us by chanting, "now we have your room number." This was a massive breach of basic guest privacy and personal security. The journey back to Sandals Dunn's River was terrifying. The driver played loud music while the intoxicated passengers began standing and screaming at the driver to speed and pass cars on a dark, busy, winding road. The driver fully accommodated this dangerous behaviour. He began tailgating, speeding, and overtaking vehicles on a solid double line in a large bus, which was met with raucous cheering and demands for more. Worse, the driver took his eyes off the road and operated the steering wheel with only one hand while using his cell phone to video record the rowdy passengers—an act that is strictly illegal under Jamaican law. My husband and I were in utter shock. It felt like a dark roller coaster ride and we genuinely feared for our lives and wondered if we’d ever see our children again. The intoxicated passengers filmed the dangerous driving ad well. The misconduct did not stop upon arrival. At the request of the screaming passengers, the driver executed high-speed "donuts" around the tight turnaround at the main entrance of Sandals Dunn's River, entirely disregarding the safety of everyone in the vehicle and any pedestrians at the lobby. The behaviour of the guests was understandable as they were on vacation and although they had far too much to drink this can happen at an all inclusive, but the driver was wildly unprofessional and operated the vehicle in an entirely illegal and life-threatening way. Sandals prides itself on luxury and guest safety, and yet we were subjected to mob-like harassment and a driver who put everyone’s lives at risk for the amusement of drunken guests. To make matters worse, the resort did not address the misconduct appropriately. The security team questioned us and wanted proof, saying this hasn’t happened before. We have escalated the matter to Sandals corporate as the donuts out front of the resort would’ve been caught by the resort cameras. Read less
