For the 1st time in 38 yrs of marriage, we chose to go to a vacation spot 2 years in a row….Sandals Dunn’s River. This second visit met all expectations. A beautiful property, terrific room, great pool area, excellent food (in SO many varieties), top shelf cocktails, and activities that allowed us to be busy enough to not return home 10 lbs. heavier! Top shout outs: -LOVED the 2 new pickleball courts, meticulously cared for by fun pro SpongeBob and his crew, Rueben and Amlack. -Dining hosts in Italian and Asian restaurants, Salvatore and King, wow…justifiably proud of their food & service and engaging enthusiastically with guests. -Keneisha, at the Plaza Bar, knows how to make a righteous Rum Punch and Mango Daiquiri. Rooms: Stayed in central Travertine building top floor. Best view over main pool and directly out to the ocean! With most nightly entertainment directly below, I could sit on my balcony and enjoy the music and show. Note, it can be loud if you plan to sleep before 9pm. Loved having 2 sinks, makeup sitting area, big closet with hangers and many drawers. Would highly suggest cleaning the very dirty looking carpet around the bed. Take advantage of waterskiing on those calm mornings. We had only a couple days without winds, but I was so excited for Timmy to drive me for an energizing run down the shoreline. Thank you for getting that great OBrien slalom ski! My husband loved getting out early to golf every other day. A 20 minute bus ride to the well laid out course, with unique greens, different than in America. But the caddies are great…don’t forget a tip ;) Suggestions: - would have been nice to have access to a shared computer, as I needed to take care of something not available on my phone. -For guests staying more than one week, they should at least change up the aqua fitness routines and poolside music mixes…the staff is talented enough to add more variety. -will look forward to the addition of tables tennis Overall, don’t pass up visiting this resort! Disappointing Experience

I’ve previously loved staying at Sandals resorts because of how welcoming they seemed toward the resort cats. Whenever I left, I felt reassured knowing the cats I had befriended appeared to have a safe and cared-for life at the resort. During past stays, I always felt the cats were well treated and appreciated by staff. Unfortunately, my recent stay at Sandals Dunn’s River completely changed that perception. During our stay, we befriended several friendly resort cats, including a litter of very young kittens living with their mother in a bush near the property. Toward the end of our trip, we witnessed several gardeners removing the kittens from the bush and placing them into a box while smiling, as nearby guests were visibly upset and distressed by what was happening. I followed one of the gardeners, who was carrying the box vertically in one hand while hurrying away, but eventually lost sight of them. We immediately went to the front desk because we were extremely concerned for the kittens’ welfare. The general manager told us it was not Sandals policy to harm animals and suggested it may have been a routine neutering visit. However, another manager later confirmed, after investigating, that this was not a scheduled vet visit or authorised action. We repeatedly explained that separating kittens that young from their mother could seriously endanger them, as they were clearly too young to survive independently, and urged management to reunite them with their mother if they had been moved. Later, management informed us that the kittens had been “released on property.” We again stressed the importance of reuniting them with their mother to ensure their safety and wellbeing, but we never saw any action taken. Despite spending considerable time searching for them ourselves, we never saw those kittens again. What upset me most was not only the incident itself, but the lack of urgency afterward. Once management established this was not an authorised vet visit or an action sanctioned by resort management, I felt there was an opportunity to intervene properly and ensure the kittens were safely returned to their mother to give them the best chance at survival and prevent harm. As an animal lover, it matters deeply to me that the places I stay treat animals with care and compassion. I understand that different countries and companies may have different approaches to managing animal populations, but I want to stay at resorts that handle these situations in ways that align with my values regarding animal welfare. Sadly, this experience has left me questioning whether Sandals still reflects those values. Read less

Tragic incident at Dunns River

We recently stayed at Sandals Dunn’s River and unfortunately left with serious concerns about both the handling of animals on the property and the handling of guest belongings. During our stay, we noticed several resort cats around the grounds, which is something we have seen at other Sandals resorts. We brought some Dreamies treats and came across a litter of around five kittens who looked no older than 6 to 7 weeks old. They were only just starting to explore and were clearly still dependent on their mother. One morning, we saw gardeners surrounding the area where the kittens were nesting. At least three kittens were grabbed by the scruff and placed into a cardboard box, which was then carried away vertically. When we asked what was happening, we were told they were being moved to a safer location and that staff would come back for the mother. The lack of care shown while moving such young kittens away from their mother was very upsetting to witness. The situation immediately felt wrong, so we raised it with the general manager. We were told the kittens might be taken for shots and to be neutered, despite them being far too young for neutering. We repeatedly stressed that the kittens needed to remain with or be reunited with their mother and were told staff would “try.” An investigation was apparently carried out. We were later told the kittens had not actually been taken to a vet. The empty box was shown to the gardening manager, and security footage was reviewed to determine where the kittens had been taken. The staff later claimed the kittens were still somewhere on the property, but despite spending a few hours searching for them ourselves, we could not find them anywhere. We urged them to handle this as the kittens were too young to survive without their mother. Overall, we were given very little clear information and received multiple conflicting explanations about what happened. By the end of it, it genuinely felt like we had been misled. The management had opportunity locate and reunite the cats but were unwilling to cooperate or worse unable to. To make matters worse, my partner’s Apple Watch also disappeared during our stay. We are not completely sure where it was left, but Find My later showed the watch approximately 25km away from the resort in a direction we never travelled during our holiday. Unfortunately, this only added to our concerns about the experience overall. The resort itself is beautiful, but these experiences left us extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. Read less

MUST STAY RESORT!!!

My husband and I went to Sandals Dunn’s River for our honeymoon. The staff and resort are super friendly and make sure your stay here is amazing. We enjoyed the sushi restaurant (Hanami) and the Jerk Shake (on the beach) the best! The views from the resort are beautiful and the beach is beautiful. Our rooms were cleaned everyday. Make sure to hangout with staff entertainment, Akeem and Omanda, they are amazing, friendly, and super helpful. They became our friends super quick and made our stay enjoyable. We we miss them and can’t wait to see them again when we come back to the resort. Take your time to go out on the boats for snorkeling, glass boat, and sailing. Read less
