Sandals Antigua - A safe choice!

Second Stay at Sandals Grande Antigua — Another Wonderful Experience We stayed at Sandals Grande Antigua from May 16 to May 24, 2026, and this was our second visit. Once again, we had a beautiful vacation experience. The Beach The beach is absolutely stunning. The sand is soft, white, and fine, and the ocean is calm and very enjoyable for swimming. During our stay, there were almost no seaweed issues — only the occasional small piece here and there. There were also usually enough chairs available, which made relaxing by the beach very easy and enjoyable. This is truly one of the hotel’s biggest strengths. Restaurants & Food Overall, the food was very good throughout the resort. After several days, you do start making the rounds of the restaurants fairly quickly, but the quality remained consistently good. For breakfast, Mario’s was definitely our favorite. There was a huge selection every morning: delicious omelets, French toast, brioche, bagels, fresh fruit, salmon, fish, bacon, cereals, and very good coffee. Breakfast there was always excellent. Our favorite restaurant of the entire trip was OK Corral. We celebrated friends’ wedding anniversary there, and the staff truly went above and beyond. The table was beautifully decorated with flowers and anniversary touches, and the couple even received a card signed by the staff. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. The food at OK Corral was, in our opinion, the best of the week. The steak was outstanding, and all of the appetizers were equally impressive. Room & Housekeeping We stayed in the Mediterranean Village on the 7th floor, with an incredible view overlooking both the ocean and the main pool. Because the wedding receptions take place nearby, it can get a little noisy in the evenings when weddings are happening. However, the events ended at a reasonable hour, so it was never a major issue for us. Room service was also very efficient — we usually received our orders within 30 minutes. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and our room was always very clean. Pools & Atmosphere We spent a lot of time at the smaller pool with the swim-up bar and volleyball area. It became our little headquarters during the week. The atmosphere there was fun, relaxed, and the service was excellent. Toward the end of our stay, the resort renovated the deck area near the pool. There was some construction noise, but the workers were very respectful, and it honestly did not impact our vacation experience. Entertainment The evening shows were enjoyable and added nicely to the overall atmosphere of the resort. Final Thoughts For us, Antigua remains a beautiful, clean, and safe destination. It is truly a place where almost everyone can find something to enjoy — whether it’s the beach, the food, the relaxing atmosphere, or simply the beauty of the island. With excellent food, gorgeous scenery, and one of the nicest beaches we’ve experienced, it’s honestly difficult not to enjoy this resort. Thank you to the entire team for another wonderful stay. Disappointing experience

Well where to begin, let’s start with the good. Some very nice employees in an otherwise couldn’t give a damn environment, special mention to Claudine in the Drunken Duck, what a fabulous lady; Devon and Dale were great along with Nickisha, Kashika, Kerrian, Jason, Ossie,Tilecia, Lamella, Daphne and Karencia. The grounds are very well maintained. Mediocre/average for the rest of the property. We had spent many years in awe of the Sandals brand so planned our Golden Wedding anniversary there, what a disappointment. The Mediterranean Honeymoon suite on the 5th floor of the building needs a total refurb, the bath was dirty and we wouldn’t use it, the rest was very tired. Advertised as a concierge service, we had to chase him to get any sort of response, not what was promised or advertised. Apart from the staff mentioned above there is a real attitude problem with many of the waiting staff, not at all 5*. Spent 1 day by the main pool which was enough, music blasting for much of the day. Smaller pool where volley ball was played was also extremely noisy in the afternoon so we spent 13 days on the beach which was great although you have to get up early to get a decent spot, we called it beat the butlers. Food is average, we have had better in Europe. Ask for premium spirits when ordering drinks or you get local brands. Trips, shopping and car hire on site is very expensive so we hired a car to tour the island for a third of the price. Will we return to Sandals again, not a chance!!! . Read less

Not a good experience

Just came back from Sandals Grande Antigua and I will never go back! We stayed on the Mediterranean side and not knowing it was the old side. The Air Conditioner leaked all over the floor one day and the toilet over flowed on the morning we left… toilet kept running the whole time we were there. Food was subpar and the staff was OK. One night we told the waitress our food was cold and after heating our food up she never came back to the table. We went upfront to let them know and the woman at the front desk came over and said “What do you want?” All the guest we talked to said they weren’t coming back! Just wish we would’ve known before we spent all the money and time. Read less
