We went to get married and they were just amazing, every step of the way we felt special and looked after. We had a very special and memorable day and have to thank lueni for looking after us so beautifully and to Michelle for my hair and make up and Kenrick for the amazing photos. They are others in the team that all work so hard but they were the main ones we dealt with. The hotel is really large and we were apprehensive to start with but we soon found our way round. We stayed on the med side on the 5th floor. Large room and good sized bathroom well equipped with everything. The lack of usb ports is a pain and recommend bringing more adaptor plugs. If we came back we would stay the carribean side as we always sat that side of the beach and ate every day for lunch in the bay restaurant which we loved and did a different theme every lunchtime. We ate in most of the restaurants and all the food is excellent, we weren’t that keen on Kimonas we found food very bland but others loved it so we are all different. 99 percent of the staff are amazing and friendly. Like any big hotel we had a few niggles but would definitely come back and no hesitation on recommending the hotel. The main pool is really lively / noisy not for us as we are beach lovers but there are plenty of other quiet pools so don’t let that put you off. The lovely thing was always plenty of beach towels … the not so lovely was having to be up before six to reserve a lounger on the beach …. Read less

This hotel simply cannot cope when busy. You have to wait for a table in a restaurant where there is clearly tables free (you can’t book) but due to staff shortages they won’t seat you. The worst thing about this hotel is the sun lounger situation. Having to get up at 5.30 am to get a longer, on a beach holiday is not ok! The resort needs to fix this quickly as the other guest we spoke too were also very unhappy. There was talk of the butlers securing beds in three different places for their customers and with some lingers untouched all day it seems to be true. You shouldn’t have to pay extra to get a sun longer in a beach holiday in a “5*” resort. Rooms need a makeover as there are chipped tiles, discoloured grout etc. Read less

My review will be divided into the good and the bad experiences. First, let's between with the positives: great restaurants, excellent food (doesn't matter if it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks), the wait time is minimum when being seated, rooms are clean, beach and bar service are fantastic. Now for the negatives... Let me start by saying this is my fifth time staying in a Sandals resort and my third time specifically in Sandals Grande Antigua. Booking my vacation through Sandals as a Sapphire member, I was promised a corresponding level of service. Upon arrival, the airport representatives greeted us acknowledging our Sapphire status and we were escorted to the Club Members Lounge at the hotel. However, apparently, the Sandals Grande workers checking us in explained that it did not matter our Member Status, what mattered was what room we reserved. The two rooms I had reserved were Honeymoon Luxury with Poolside View, yet we ended up in the Caribbean Beachfront Village in the most outdated building next to the tennis courts (Building 5). Thus, we were considered non-members, promptly asked to leave the Lounge and were escorted to the main lobby to complete our check-in completely disregarding my Sapphire Status. At 3:30pm, we were told our room was not yet ready even though check-in began at 3pm. When I asked the front desk as for a reason for the delay, they said that they just couldn't get the previous occupants out of the room in time to clean it up for us. When I asked for an approximation when it would be ready, they confessed they did not know--they could not even approximate. At this point I asked to be connected with Customer Relations Manager, Julianne, and she was the only person who apologized and attempted to remedy the situation. She is a true manager in every sense. It seemed that she escalated the issue and the room was ready by 5pm. At this point, let me skip ahead a little and mention that we had limited to no internet reception in both rooms. When we contacted technical support, we were advised to buy premium service for $79.99 for the week to have better service. However, this did not help--we could not even check our emails. We called the front desk again and were advised to go onto the balcony or to switch to another room (which was not possible due to lack of availability)! Can you even imagine having 5.5 Mbps in 2026!? So we cancelled the service and just dealt with it. Can I mention as well that the bathrooms didn't even have an outlet for the hairdryer provided by the hotel? I had to take it with me and use it at the desk next to my bed--the only place with a useable outlet and mirror. I already wrote a lot. Just to summarize, this was the most problematic vacation I have had in the last ten years. I just want to express again my thanks to Julianne(Manager) who had followed up and attempted to make our stay more enjoyable and Masadei (Lobby Front desk) who was always there for us. So, please try to stay away from Building 5. Maybe I am ready to switch from Sandals to another chain. Read less

We have visited 4 other Sandals and chose this as our next stay. Whilst the beach and resort were beautiful and we enjoyed the range of restaurants, bars and facilities I have to say that overall we were disappointed with the service - particularly from the bar staff. It’s not that the actual service was bad but just that there was little ‘service with a smile’. People were doing their jobs but it felt formulaic and ‘going through the motions’, very few smiled or made an effort to ask us about our day for example. The big exception was Marcia in the Guest Relations office who was friendly, chatty, really helpful and personable. Also the water sports staff were great on our daily snorkelling trips. Ironically, the local vendors on the beach were also very friendly and chatty. Marilyn was such a lovely lady and said hello to us every day after we met her, she was such a dear. The entertainment was great on resort - especially the fire eaters and entertainers on Antigua day which was an amazing evening. The pool and beach drinks service was not very frequent and we probably received 1-2 drinks throughout a whole day from them so we generally walked to the bar ourselves. The resort need to look into their sun bed policy as people were reserving beds from about 5.30am and they were getting all booked from about 7am. Many of the beds weren’t being used - we saw one pair that were reserved with towels then not being used until after lunch. Our room had an incredible view of the beach with sunsets each night. We have had a butler previously but didn’t book one this time and really didn’t feel we needed one. The resort is very well laid out, very clean and beautiful. The beach is also fabulous. We have recently been to Secrets and this probably highlighted the difference in the service from the staff. Some of them just need to smile more here and it would make all the difference. We still had a wonderful time and would visit Sandals again. Read less
