Jump aboard the "Hop" bus and head across the road to the Riviera Seaside and Ochi Beach Club, fronting a beautiful stretch of white sand with a boardwalk that extends out to sea. Enjoy a beachside cocktail, soak up some sun or sail the waves of the Caribbean sea on the infamous sunset catamaran cruise, alternatively, the resorts Playmakers will be sure to get the party started with various pool games! Perhaps pool volleyball is not on your agenda? — no problem! Scattered across the resort, you will find various quiet pools for a more relaxed vibe and don't forget, a sumptuous treatment at the Red Lane® Spa will help ease you into your tropical Caribbean getaway. The Amphitheatre is the entertainment hub of the resort, hosting live Reggae nights, Talent Shows and live dancers, the perfect way to experience and celebrate the Jamaican culture. Its been a little over a week since we have returned from our split trip to Jamaica. First four nights were spent at Dunns while the final four nights were spent at Ochi. While Dunns is a VERY nice resort with a lot of outstanding restaurants, when we pulled up to Ochi we felt like we were IN Jamaica! I would go as far as saying it is a Diamond in the Rough! The grounds are absolutely beautiful with so many little intricate areas to get lost in if you like. The grounds are well maintained and clean....in fact we spotted GM Gary walking the property daily picking up cups, straws and stuff that was smaller than the average eye can see!!! He truly takes pride in this property and it shows. We were greeted by Joelle when we arrived. She led us to our Club level room that had the most spectacular view. She noticed that we had a jerk chicken recipe from Chef Greg at Dunns... Looking at the ingredients she told us to make sure we use the dried pimentos...is there such a thing? Low and behold the next time we saw her she had brought us the pimentos. Such a pleasant young lady! Shadine from Loyalty and Travel made a special trip to our room to greet us and make sure that we were satisfied with our room and if we had any special needs. She is such a devoted employee and always greeted us with a big smile/hug! Sadly we were only able to enjoy 3 restaurants as one night was returning guest dinner. Shout out to Mark at Soy! Such a nice guy...kept inviting us back. Sushi is outstanding! Shevon and Alecia at the main pool bar were so fun! Always waiting with a big smile to fill us up! Alecia did my husband a solid and ran to the polo bar for grapefruit juice! One disappointment was the lack of bananas due to the hurricane, therefore the dirty banana was made with banana liquor. Luck was upon us when we ran into Keneal at the polo lounge. He ASSURED us that he can still make a killer diry banana! NEVER doubt Keneal!! A BIG shout out to Little Boss, Shareka, fitness instructor. We met her last year when we brought our family. It was so awesome seeing her again. She truly loves what she does and always willing to answer any questions or just get to know you! Im not sure why Ochi gets a bad wrap....it has become one of our favorites. There is something there for everyone . It really is a resort that gives you that TRUE island feeling. Thank you all for your hospitality! We will see you April 2027!!! Read less

Firstly from the moment we stepped off the plane how lovely the Jamaican people and culture is very friendly and will always help if needed. The Sandals resort was amazing. The grounds are beautifully kept by teams of gardeners who took the time to talk and ask how things were going, A theme running throughout from cleaning staff, maintenance teams and generally anyone you come into contact with. All the restaurants onsite offer different themed food and we visited all the restaurants at least twice during our stay. The food had real flavour as with many resort style food it can sometimes be tasteless or all taste the same this is certainly not the case at Sandals. Our room was a villa with butler service and private pool. The room was very spacious with separate living area to the bedroom and bathroom which were very nice and a king size bed which was very comfortable. We made great use of the balcony with a beautiful sea view. Our butlers were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us. A special thank you to Moria & Roberto or the dream team as we call them. Thank you for taking such great care of us. Every now and then you come across exceptional people like Alicea at the swim up bar. She can remember names from two days ago and entire families within minutes. It’s seems like at a glance she knows what you want. She is the first to get out and take drinks orders around the pool and chat with all the guests. On top of that on several occasions made sure guests had water on particularly hot days and had everyone laughing when someone didn’t keep hydrated enough and made sure they did. I’m sure she is recognised and highlighted all the time for outstanding service. Already booked for a return visit. Read less

They create a luxury vacation experience with exceptional personal awareness. From the start of our day at breakfast at Barefoot by the Sea, server Asha Lee made every morning a sheer delight. Our butlers Oshane and Caddick literally made our vacation the "get-a-way" worth waiting for. The daily entertainment was fun and gave all age groups a chance to relax and enjoy Jamaican culture, cuisine, and community. The French restaurant Le Gourmand's server Phillip gave us our best personal service experience on the evening venue with flawless attention and on point service. We're going back! Read less

This was our first visit to Ochi and I noticed an immediate difference to the hotels in St Lucia (La Grande) and Grenada. As someone previously mentioned in their review the rooms are now dated in style and reminiscent of motel rooms. We were located in the Riviera building and we had a butler suite. We had originally booked for Montego Bay but due to the storm damage we were offered this as an alternative and an upgrade. I have to mention that Sandals UK customer service/flight ops were absolutely amazing during the changes and I never had to do a thing. Well done Lisa R - you were brilliant. Firstly this is a site of two halves, the individual butler lodges above and the larger building and beach below, this is bisected by a busy road. The site is large at 110 acres but feels small as you are discouraged to walk the whole estate due to the main road and the access roads are busy with the hop bus that connects the two sites. The beach side is a bit of a disappointment in as much as the beach areas are tiny. There are 3 very small stretches and only one that has umbrellas for shade. The remainder either have some trees and/or palm trees. This is all very well but when you need shade (my husband is a ginger with factor 50 needed to ease in a tan) it's an early morning scrabble to reserve the very few beds that had shade. I thought this was appalling tbh. I didn't expect Sandals to allow this, and on our very last day, by 6.30am half of the sunbeds had gone and by 7am the remainder had too. It also happened to be raining that day which made it doubly laughable. If the weather was overcast those reserved beds sat there unused until the 'owner' claimed them. There are a handful of cabana's, for a charge of course, but they are located by the lower pool areas which got incredibly loud. Brilliant music however the speakers are right next to the beds so only so much you can take after a while. The traditional, larger pool area is at the top of the site. Food was hit and miss sadly. The Reef restaurant, Jerk cafe, Tapas bar and Kimonos were excellent. However the others were very same-y, and I have no idea what went on with the beef as it was horrendously chewy. Not good at all. Even the Caribbean restaurant was not as good as the smaller cafe style restaurants. Some of the food was dry and overcooked, the vegetables were often raw. Our room was so-so, we had a great view over looking the beach and Sky/Vista restaurant. We were very comfortable but it really does need a glow up to bring it to more current expectations. I really don't understand why the TV's are not smart tv's. I know I'm on holiday but when getting ready for the evening or just waking up I wouldn't mind watching YouTube etc. The other thing to point out is the wifi offerings that were very poor. Basic and free just about gets you emails and basic browsing. There are a further two offerings that start from 80USD per week - really?!? In this day and age where everything relies on internet - this should be fast and free. Poorly done Sandals. The corridor leading to our room was carpeted and had a really funky smell to it. Why have a carpet? Surely with sand and wet bodies it would have been much easier to maintain if it was tiled. The whirlpool bath didn't whirlpool and was obviously old and well used. The people - this is the best bit and saved for last Sheldon and Demetra were our butlers for the duration and I have to say that they made our holiday for us. We were initially sceptical but the level of attentiveness was unbelievable. You are provided with a phone (would have been handy to also have a phone holder or case as you carry this everywhere if you want to be able to be in contact with them) obviously if lost or damaged you are charged. They were incredibly thoughtful. They never turned up empty handed, it was either cocktails, drinks or snacks. Always with suggestions and even arranged for a particular shrimp dish to be made avail at the restaurant for us in the evening. Sheldon was very softly spoken and calm - nothing was too much trouble. Demetra always smiling and surprised us several times with a bath already run when we returned to the rooms. Also suggestions on Jamaican food and making sure that restaurant bookings were made. I am sure that they do so much more but honestly, they were the right amount of 'being there' for us. This is the only exception to tipping that Sandals has and honestly they are worth it, I just wish we could have given them so much more. They worked extremely hard and long days and I hope they released how much we appreciated them. The remainder of the team working at the hotel were very, very good. Our room was always cleaned to a high standard and everyone was smiling and very friendly. Yes I know they have to but you can tell the difference when someone is happy or not. We loved sitting by the Tapas bar as the guys were either singing or laughing and the vibes were good. Spa was excellent as we have found that all Sandals spa's are. Although everyday we were asked if we had been, that needs to be toned down a bit, as it feels a bit like running the gauntlet. We used the fitness centre, while small was very clean and well equipped. In all honesty we did enjoy our visit. We won't be back to this particular site as it just wasn't for us, however we met many people who were on their 5/6 and more visits. I hope that the issue with food was just a result of the hurricane and it resolves itself. They had a horrendous time and are still trying to complete repairs and some people were still without homes. Read less
