Butler Sandals Ochi Rios

I was disappointed with my stay at Sandals Ochi. While the staff throughout the resort were generally warm and friendly, the overall experience did not meet my expectations. My biggest disappointment was the butler service. I would not recommend paying the extra cost for a Butler Room. Our butlers did not work past 8:00 p.m., which was never explained to us before or during our stay, but he did say they work until 10:00 p.m. which never occurred. They also never gave us an orientation of the resort or explained the services they could provide to make our vacation more relaxing. Our room was located on the hillside, while most of the restaurants, and evening entertainment were on the seaside. Having to walk up and down the steep hill multiple times each day—especially after a long day or late at night—was exhausting. As the week went on, we noticed other butlers providing services that ours never mentioned, such as delivering food and drinks anywhere on the resort and proactively checking in with their guests. Once we realized these services were available and began requesting them, our butler seemed annoyed by our requests rather than happy to help. We paid nearly $1,000 extra for butler service, expecting a more relaxing and personalized vacation. Instead, it became more of a frustration than a luxury. Trying to work around the butlers' schedules and not receiving the level of service we saw others enjoying made the upgrade feel like a waste of money. Overall, while the resort has friendly staff and some positive qualities, I would strongly recommend saving your money and skipping the butler upgrade. A Fantastic Week at Sandals Ochi!

Amazing Staff & Great Vibes My wife and I just wrapped up our second trip to Sandals Ochi, and we had an incredible time. From start to finish, everything was great, but what truly sets this resort apart is the warmth of the people. The Real Stars: The Staff! Literally everyone we encountered was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive. You can't walk down a path without hearing a warm "Good morning," "Good afternoon," or "Good evening" and a genuine check-in to see how your day is going. While the entire team deserves a round of applause, we have to give a special shout-out to a few standout individuals who made our trip extra memorable (I wish I could remember everyone's names!): Davian (Baggage): Welcomed us with the best energy right from the start and made arrival seamless. Marion & Jody Ann (Soy Sushi Bar): Absolutely amazing waitresses! They both have wonderful, bright personalities and made our dining experiences so much fun. Latoya: Was so easy to work with and incredibly helpful when we were booking our next two trips to Beaches and Barbados! Food & Dining Thoughts (A Few Gentle Suggestions) Overall, we ate very well and enjoyed the variety. If I have to be a bit picky, there are just a couple of minor things I think the resort could fine-tune: Steak Temperatures: I ordered steak three different times during our stay, requesting medium each time. Unfortunately, all three came out well-done. I'd love to see the kitchens focus a bit more on cooking steaks to order. Restaurant Schedules: It was a bit frustrating that certain restaurants close on specific days of the week, which requires some careful planning. More Sushi, Please! The sushi is fantastic, but the restaurant is only open from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. We would have absolutely loved it if they offered a lunch service instead of just a short dinner window. The Verdict: 5 stars Despite those tiny restaurant critiques, our stay was wonderful. The beautiful property, the endless activities, and—most importantly—the top-tier hospitality made this a vacation to remember. We are already looking forward to our upcoming trips to Beaches Negril and Sandals Barbados! Read less

Stay at Sandals Ochi

We just left Sandals Ochi after 15 days there. Seven bays would have been plenty. But it gave us the opportunity to see the resort clearly. We were on the hill side. If you’re going there choose the sea side. The hill side means you have to walk a steep incline to get to your room in heat and humidity. SUPPOSEDLY you should be able to get a golf cart ride up to your room. No, even the butlers with an empty golf cart would just blow past. Don’t get me wrong there is a lot of nice people at Ochi. But, On July 9 there was a large down pour that stranded about 30 of us in the lobby. The general manager, Charles Blacher, was one of us, he just leaned against the wall and didn’t talk with any guests. If he was my employee he would be on 90 day probation right now. Restaurants were all good with the French restaurant very good. Mark did a great job of keeping beverages in our room refrig. Zoe was amazing at the pool bar. Leon in the Rabbit Hole made the evening. We had an incident at the pool but Daniel Laws made it right, thanks Daniel. Thanks Shadine Reid for your special help when that happened. Otis made beautiful flower arrangements for my wife. A lady, at the sunset bar, who told us to call her Harry was so kind. And when things bogged down Candace got it moving. Really it’s the small things that make a resort stay memorable. Ice in the room without having to call, maid service early, smiles and conversation with staff so on. Read less

Another Solid Sandals Experience

Another Great Sandals Experience with Outstanding Entertainment This was my wife’s and my fourth Sandals resort, after Sandals Grenada, Sandals South Coast, and Sandals Montego Bay, and overall we had a fantastic stay at Sandals Ochi. The biggest highlight of this resort was the entertainment. Out of every Sandals we’ve visited, Ochi had the most engaging entertainment program. The All White Party and Silent Headphone Party were easily our favorite events. I especially appreciated how the DJs catered to different musical tastes with multiple channels and even incorporated local Jamaican music. It made the experience feel authentic and inclusive. At another Sandals resort we visited a couple of years ago, the Silent Headphone Party leaned heavily on pop music and older hip-hop (2000s and earlier). While those songs are classics, it felt like the “safe” playlist. Ochi did a much better job of recognizing that guests come from different backgrounds and age groups by mixing newer music with classics and local favorites. The entertainment continued throughout the week. Before the line dance lessons at the pool, the DJ played a great variety of music and even took requests. We jokingly asked him to play a few songs from Drake’s new Iceman album, and to our surprise, he actually did. Small interactions like that made the experience feel personal. I’d honestly love to see other Sandals resorts use Ochi’s entertainment program as a blueprint. The staff throughout the resort was consistently friendly. One of the entertainment hosts remembered my wife later in the week, and because we were celebrating my birthday, a team member surprised me with a slice of cake and a birthday card. Those thoughtful touches made our stay even more memorable. Our Riviera Oceanview room was clean, comfortable, and had beautiful views. Housekeeping did a great job, and while the resort was lively during the day, it became nice and quiet at night once the entertainment wrapped up. The food was a mixed experience, which is fairly common at large all-inclusive resorts. If you’re a foodie, I’d recommend going in with realistic expectations. The service was consistently good, but some restaurants stood out more than others. Our favorites were the brisket at Sweetwood, the surf and turf at Vista, and the Jamaican lunch buffet at Vista. The sushi at Soy was good, but coming from the Metro Atlanta area, where we have access to some excellent sushi, it didn’t quite compare. That said, the signature cocktail at Soy was fantastic. We also noticed that portion sizes at some restaurants seemed a little smaller than what we remembered from previous Sandals visits. It wasn’t a deal breaker since there are so many dining options, but it was something we noticed. We also stopped by the ice cream shop a couple of times during its posted operating hours but found that no one was there to serve guests. Hopefully that’s something the resort can improve. Our only other dining issue happened after the Silent Headphone Party. We went to Tapas around 10:20 p.m. for a late-night bite and didn’t receive our food until almost 11:00 p.m. Our waitress was friendly and courteous, so this wasn’t a service issue. It simply seemed like the restaurant was understaffed for the rush that followed one of the resort’s biggest nightly events. Since the resort knows when those events end, adding a little more staffing during peak times would make a noticeable difference. Most of my suggestions revolve around communication and navigation. Ochi is a large resort with a lot happening throughout the week. I don’t remember receiving a printed activities schedule during check-in, and I didn’t even realize Sandals had an app with the daily entertainment schedule, restaurant information, and resort map until another couple told us about it at the pool. Mentioning the app during check-in would make it much easier for guests to plan their days and take advantage of everything the resort has to offer. I’d also recommend adding larger “You Are Here” maps throughout the property. While the TVs include a digital map, physical maps would make it much easier to locate restaurants, amenities, and activities. I actually thought I needed to take a shuttle to another part of the resort to use the fitness center before learning there was one much closer to our building. If you’re flying into Montego Bay, just keep in mind that the drive to Ocho Rios is about one to one and a half hours. Sandals provides complimentary airport transportation, so just plan accordingly. Feral Cat Takeover!

If you have a fear of cats or are allergic to cats this is not the resort for you. My family & I stayed at this resort Memorial Day weekend 2026. There were literally over 20 cats at the breakfast buffet patio. If you sat down they were all under the guest feeding them. They were at the room doors and on the balconies at our pool side rooms. This made the property look run down due to the amount of feral cats running around. Our room had ants all over the bathroom sink. I asked our butler if something could be done about it. He claimed they would spray but the ants were there our entire stay. I probably would never stay at another Sandals property again for these reasons & we called to check to see if they were an excessive amount of cats due to me being allergic based on a tik tok post I saw and they said it was maybe 1 or 2. That was a LIE! Should have multiplied that by 20! Read less
