This was our second time visiting a Sandals resort. A few years ago we went to Halcyon Beach on St. Lucia, and it was the perfect vacation. This trip started out badly from the time we made our reservation for the Montego Bay Sandals last November. We were never told that the MB property was closed due to the hurricane. I later learned the property was closed, but was going to reopen in May, which was plenty of time for our July vacation. Then we were notified by email in April, that the MB property was going to do more extensive renovations and would not be open by our vacation dates. We were given the options of a refund, changing resorts, or rescheduling our vacation to November/December of 2026. We tried to change to a Barbados resort, and they were able to accommodate the change, but then told us that they would not help us with the airline changes, even though we had purchased the trip protection. (We also talked to other couples during our stay, that had this exact same issue.) We were then given the suggestion of the Ochi property. Part of our original reso was a balcony soaking tub. We were told that there were currently none available, but to ask at check-in if there were any available that they could switch us to. (Never told us that Ochi has no soaking tubs in any of their rooms). I even emailed the resort a few weeks before our arrival, to ask if they might have had a cancellation, but never got a response. When we arrived at the resort, it was a beautiful place. All of the public areas were nicely done. The concierge was very helpful at checking and showed us to our room. We were surprised to be given a rather dated room. It was fine for the most part, but the bathroom fixtures were quite old. The general sense of the room was it needed up dating badly. But we did have nice views, and the service in the room was excellent through out the week. After our long flight and bus ride to the resort, we set out to find something to eat. We got to the Tapas on the Riviera at 3:30, realizing they closed at 4pm. We told no problem, and grabbed a seat at the bar overlooking the water. The server took our orders, for a sandwich, salad, and soft drinks, and then came back with only one drink. I asked again for mine, and was given a look, but she went and got it. After waiting 30 minutes, we had no food. I watched, as most of this time our server seemed to be doing closing duties. We flagged her down and asked about our food, and she said “you ordered the kabobs and something else that was wrong. At this point we got up and told her to cancel, and left. She tried to tell us she would get our food to go, but we moved on. This was reminiscent of several of the restaurants. The service in most cases was just getting by. The food quality was not the best, and anytime we ordered steak or beef, it was always over cooked and tough like shoe leather. There were some great food experiences but most left us wanting. After dinner at Kelly Dockside was so bad, we went to the room and ordered room service. We did tell some of the concierge about our experiences, but nothing was done in our eyes. On the bright side, all of the pools were great. The swim up bars made great drinks and the bartenders were friendly. Some days, there was poolside entertainment and activities. One day, we went to the main pool on the hillside, rented a cabana and had a great day. Our butler Richard was outstanding with his service. The day we spent at the Red Lane spa getting a couples massages was another outstanding day. My only issue was we were not told until checking out, that there was a 20% service charge added to the bill, after we had tipped them in cash. All in all, the resort had lots of pluses and minuses. I later read that Ochi is the low end budget property. I’m not sure we could recommend this property. We have booked a trip to Barbados for next year, and hoping for an experience like we had in St. Lucia. Read less

The speakeasy was amazing and Kayne is so talented with an amazing voice which is a must see and do when you go. Grab the password daily from your servers or butler. We has fun on the party cruise boat to Dunns falls and snorkeling was definitely a memorable moment. Don't skip out on Dunns it was gorgeous. The circus on resort was top notch it far exceeded my expectations. Shevannon was the best golf cart driver and he and his cousin Nicholas were so helpful to get us to and from the hop (when we could reach the desk...more on that later) For the dissapointing moments, we had a free catamaran cruise that was unable to be honored even though it was on my account and I sent the confirmation email to thecislandcresort agent, this never got resolved and was sad we didn't get to do that as a couple. We also tried to go to the Dunns resort for the day and we would check daily and our concierge never got a reply email and when they called no answer. We signed up on saturday and by tuesday we have up. They told us "we may not get an answer cause they don't work on the weekends!" What?? So the stay at 1 play at another was hard to do and I don't feel Sandals honored that commitment well. Sure we could have gone for dinner on the shuttle but we wanted to experience the resort for a future booking and I don't know why that was so hard? I've gone to other sandal resorts for stay at 1 play at another for full days with no difficulty. This needs to be looked at. The customer service for the most part was great except for calling for support at the desk and club. The majority of the time i would call I would not get an answer so we couldn't get rides from our room to the hop so we resorted to walking and hoped a cart was traveling by to pick us up. I think this was a result of not having enough staff at the desks, often times there was only 1 person at the front or conceireage desk trying to handle everything! I don't think that is realistic or best use of manning to support the demand. I've been to 3 other Sandals that all had amazing front and conceirage customer service and was shocked to see it was not the same service i've known and loved from the Sandals brand. Overall we had fun, staff was great but not sure I'll be heading back anytime soon to Ochi Read less

I was disappointed with my stay at Sandals Ochi. While the staff throughout the resort were generally warm and friendly, the overall experience did not meet my expectations. My biggest disappointment was the butler service. I would not recommend paying the extra cost for a Butler Room. Our butlers did not work past 8:00 p.m., which was never explained to us before or during our stay, but he did say they work until 10:00 p.m. which never occurred. They also never gave us an orientation of the resort or explained the services they could provide to make our vacation more relaxing. Our room was located on the hillside, while most of the restaurants, and evening entertainment were on the seaside. Having to walk up and down the steep hill multiple times each day—especially after a long day or late at night—was exhausting. As the week went on, we noticed other butlers providing services that ours never mentioned, such as delivering food and drinks anywhere on the resort and proactively checking in with their guests. Once we realized these services were available and began requesting them, our butler seemed annoyed by our requests rather than happy to help. We paid nearly $1,000 extra for butler service, expecting a more relaxing and personalized vacation. Instead, it became more of a frustration than a luxury. Trying to work around the butlers' schedules and not receiving the level of service we saw others enjoying made the upgrade feel like a waste of money. Overall, while the resort has friendly staff and some positive qualities, I would strongly recommend saving your money and skipping the butler upgrade. For us, it simply was not worth the additional cost or the disappointment. Read less

Amazing Staff & Great Vibes My wife and I just wrapped up our second trip to Sandals Ochi, and we had an incredible time. From start to finish, everything was great, but what truly sets this resort apart is the warmth of the people. The Real Stars: The Staff! Literally everyone we encountered was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive. You can't walk down a path without hearing a warm "Good morning," "Good afternoon," or "Good evening" and a genuine check-in to see how your day is going. While the entire team deserves a round of applause, we have to give a special shout-out to a few standout individuals who made our trip extra memorable (I wish I could remember everyone's names!): Davian (Baggage): Welcomed us with the best energy right from the start and made arrival seamless. Marion & Jody Ann (Soy Sushi Bar): Absolutely amazing waitresses! They both have wonderful, bright personalities and made our dining experiences so much fun. Latoya: Was so easy to work with and incredibly helpful when we were booking our next two trips to Beaches and Barbados! Food & Dining Thoughts (A Few Gentle Suggestions) Overall, we ate very well and enjoyed the variety. If I have to be a bit picky, there are just a couple of minor things I think the resort could fine-tune: Steak Temperatures: I ordered steak three different times during our stay, requesting medium each time. Unfortunately, all three came out well-done. I'd love to see the kitchens focus a bit more on cooking steaks to order. Restaurant Schedules: It was a bit frustrating that certain restaurants close on specific days of the week, which requires some careful planning. More Sushi, Please! The sushi is fantastic, but the restaurant is only open from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. We would have absolutely loved it if they offered a lunch service instead of just a short dinner window. The Verdict: 5 stars Despite those tiny restaurant critiques, our stay was wonderful. The beautiful property, the endless activities, and—most importantly—the top-tier hospitality made this a vacation to remember. We are already looking forward to our upcoming trips to Beaches Negril and Sandals Barbados! Read less
