We have just returned from Ochi, our first trip to Sandals, and our second to Jamaica. Overall a lovely holiday but I would not return for a number of reasons. We booked as two couples and this was very clear on the one booking. Before I left I tried to get hold of the hotel to request rooms together and to share that it was our friends anniversary. This was frustratingly impossible to get a direct contact, just the US info@ address. Whilst I did get a generic response and was told this would be passed on it clearly didn't happen. On arrival which was late (after the 1 1/2 hour transfer) we were shown to the butler lounge and not only did we not have rooms together we weren't even in the same building and they had no record of our request. We had booked butler suite with pool, so wanted to share the experience. We were told to go to our rooms, not unpack and report to reception in the morning. Ironically when we got to our rooms there was a welcome poster to Mel, Jeremy, Mark & Andrea. Whilst I appreciate that this was initiated by our travel agent common sense would suggest that whoever placed it might wonder where the other couple were? We reported back next morning and whilst helpful the only suggestion was that they could move our friends closer which we felt we had to accept. So we ended up in 7517 and 7537. 7537 smelt musty throughout and there were signs of water damage in main bedroom. This must be addressed. We met other groups of friends that had experienced the same thing so Sandals please address this we don't all come in two's. Staff were either excellent or surly-and no in between. We spent just one afternoon at a small pool beachside and would like to mention Shivon. He was superb! He had lost everything in storm Melissa and was living with his sister and also his job at different Sandals but was a joy, a delight and a credit to Sandals. I hope he is looked after. The deal we had from UK was butler service, and I am sure we didn't use them as much as others but credit to Derek, Dwight, Peta-Gay and Nardia for their support. A lovely surprise lunch was arranged for our friends anniversary which was appreciated. A negative for us is that Sandals have relaxed their tipping policy for butlers and this was expected. I feel uncomfortable paying more particularly when butlers would be on higher salaries than servers, barman, gardeners etc One of the challenges of the resort is that it is either side of a main road. So hillside or beachside. The Hop bus between was excellent running every 10 mins but it does somewhat take the spontaneity out of things. Last year we stayed in Couples Swept Away Negril and the beach was excellent, so calm and accessible. The beach at Ochi is disappointing and very difficult for keen swimmers to have enough safe space. It's fine for walking your cocktail in but limited as boardwalk restricts full ocean access. We found many areas very loud-it may have suited others but turn it down! The Rabbit Hole was great fun, and I would thoroughly recommend anyone attending. Do take a trip to Dunns River Falls, we did the catamaran cruise and whilst a bit more money-worth it and a fabulous experience. Gardens are fabulous, well kept and team work hard-so shout out to unsung heroes, Room servicing was mixed, was often late , and had to be chased on occasion. Food was pretty good across all restaurants, but sometimes less is more, 16 restaurants are not really needed. Three Italian's so maybe bit more variety. As I haven't been to another Sandals it's hard to compare, but its a bit rough around the edges in places, and I think for us a smaller more intimate resort would suit. Sandals caters mostly for the American market so bear that in mind. Sadly weather was not great but there's nothing you can do about that. To summarise: Don't expect to be together as a group Bear in mind long transfer Enjoy the fabulous gardens Great food Great cocktails Looking at St Lucia and Antigua next. Read less

Review of Stay at Ochi Sandals Resort – March 2026 Overall, we had a very enjoyable ten-day stay at the resort in March 2026. The standout aspect of our visit was undoubtedly the staff, who were consistently friendly, courteous, and a genuine credit to the resort. That said, there were a few areas that did not meet expectations. The resort has a somewhat commercial feel throughout, and while our room was comfortable, it did have a few minor issues. To management’s credit, these were addressed promptly once brought to their attention. One point of concern was general attention to detail in certain areas. For example, plates, glasses, and bottles were left on an external air conditioning unit near our room for most of the week, despite staff regularly passing by. This detracted slightly from the overall impression. While Sandals promotes its resorts as top-tier luxury, in our opinion this particular property felt more mid-range. However, the exceptional service from the staff went a long way in enhancing the overall experience. We would like to recognise several team members who made a positive impression: • Samoy – Reef Restaurant • Ashley – Vista Sky Restaurant • Stacy Ann – Manor Restaurant • Jovan – Vista Sky Restaurant • Brichelle – Vista Sky Restaurant • Dejean – Kelly’s Dockside Restaurant A special mention must go to: • Shevaun (Pool Attendant): Each time he serviced the pool outside our room, he took the time to check in with us and ensure we were enjoying our stay. This felt genuinely above and beyond his role. • Delta (Housekeeping): A warm and personable individual who consistently greeted us with kindness and took a sincere interest in our experience. The complimentary snorkelling is highly recommended and well worth taking advantage of. We also opted for the sunset cruise, which, while somewhat expensive, proved to be a worthwhile experience. The catamaran crew were both entertaining and attentive, making it a memorable outing. This trip was booked as a replacement for a previously cancelled holiday due to unrest in the Middle East. Reflecting on our experience, we would certainly return to Jamaica, as the warmth and hospitality of the people are exceptional and clearly part of the island’s culture. However, we would likely explore alternative accommodation options for a future visit. We look forward to seeing what our next holiday destination will bring. Read less
