The hotel

Little VIP touches make a stay at the boutique Sea Breeze Beach House feel all the more special. As you sink into a sun lounger, the pool and beach attendants serve cold drinks, mist you with a refreshing spritzer, and offer delicious sorbet tasters. Its 3-acre gardens and 1,000 ft stretch of silky white sands create a sense of space, while Bajan accents like palm trees, beachside dining, and rum-infused treats create a sense of island living. Families and couples can enjoy their own zones, with a space just for grownups featuring a pool, Jacuzzis and oversized loungers — a brilliant break from the buzz around the family and lap pools. Even the beach caters for all, with a lively water sports stretch and a more peaceful patch. The luxury suites are wonderfully spacious, have beautiful ocean views and extra amenities, and with two, three and four bedroom options available, you can have an All-Inclusive experience with a 'villa' feel. Whether à la carte or one of the themed buffet evenings you'll love the food, and we recommend that you don't miss the opportunity to get the sand between your toes at the 'Shoes Optional' Beach BBQ held on Sundays.

We have just returned from a two week stay at this hotel and have had such a relaxing, peaceful holiday. We had arranged the short transfer from the airport directly with the hotel and their driver Daniel was waiting for us. He was dressed immaculately and was very polite and friendly. At the hotel we were checked in by a smiling and friendly Kim and given a nice refreshing towel and drink and given our “All Inclusive” wrist bands which opened the allocated door to rooms. We were then shown to our room with a quick tour of the resort with a young lady who sadly did not seem to want to be in attendance. We were allocated room 230 which was a Classic Ocean Room in the block beside the lap pool. On entering the room it seemed dark and dingy but after a couple of days we had adapted. The view from the balcony over the pool out to the ocean was beautiful but we didn’t usually return to our room until the sun had gone down so sadly didn’t make the most of it however opening the curtains in the morning was such a joy. Through the night it was lovely to hear the sound of the waves. The room was at the end of the block so we had no passing traffic and apart from the waves, we only heard a neighbour’s dog (not very often) and occasional faint music. The room could definitely do with a refresh: the main door and key chain looked quite flimsy and dated. As we entered the room, the wardrobe was on the right side and we noticed scratches on the doors. This turned out to be because the doors were not situated well on their runners and scraped together when opening/closing the doors. The right door even came off the rails at one point but was easily put back but I am sure our neighbours or downstairs would have been annoyed as the noise was loud. We tried to get everything we needed out and ready before going out at night so we didn’t make a noise in the morning especially as we left the room around 6.30am. The safe was found inside the wardrobe and there was ample hanging space and shelving. On arrival we had a problem with the safe but after contacting Reception, it was sorted within five minutes. The area behind the walkway to our room was just like a dumping ground with an old shack, discarded furniture and old surf boards or boat parts and this could really do with a good clear out. The room was a decent size with a very large and very comfortable bed and pillows. There was a large TV fixed on the wall and a full size mirror. There was a console and chair. There was a coffee machine and pods, a kettle with teabags and coffee sachets with sugar and cream. The fridge was housed underneath and we were supplied with bottles of water every day. Cups and saucers, wine glasses and tall glasses were provided. There were some ornaments and pictures on the walls were very nice. The fridge didn’t cool our water very well but we didn’t report this. There was a ceiling fan above the bed which was beneficial and the air con worked well except occasionally it was not cool enough (don’t know why this was as it was at the same level the whole time)! The bed was huge and so comfortable with clean linen and comfy pillows. I believe the linen is changed every three days unless more is requested but one of our requests seemed to be ignored. The bathroom looked old and tired and really could do with a refurb but it was clean (thank you to Andrea our Housekeeper). The toilet cistern had a crack which looked as if it had been there a while. The sink was a single within a cabinet which housed the hairdryer and spare loo rolls. There were two tumblers on a glass shelf along with products by White Company which was a nice touch. These products were also on the shelf in the walk-in shower. Unfortunately there was low water pressure but it was okay. One day we returned to our room to find a large bottle of water outside. The whole side of the island had no water as the water company had been doing some work nearby so the hotel provided this extra supply. Luckily everything returned to normal in a short space of time. There was not a non-slip math in the shower which personally I would have found helpful. We got fresh towels every day. We did enjoy using the Adult Only pool everyday. We were some of the early beds who used these beds from about 7am but this is the best part of the day. We never left the lovely comfy sunbeds for more time than it took to go for our meals unlike others who vacated for hours. The pool was kept clean and it was a lovely relaxing area far away from the children’s pool. The toilets at this pool were kept lovely and clean by Linda and her colleagues and Linda especially greeted you with a lovely smile and conversation each day. The gym was also in this area but we didn’t use it so cannot comment. There is a Service/Reception desk at this area also and there was a coffee machine, games a towel exchange and a shop. This was also the are for luggage storage and where you were picked up for airport transfers or excursions which we thought was brilliant as there wasn’t a mix of people coming in and out with no lines at the desk. The pickups we witnessed for trips and airport transfers all seemed to be punctual. The Spa was also in this are but again, we didn’t indulge! The little shop was handy and stored snacks and drinks as well as toiletries and OTC medecines, souvenirs, clothes, bags and games and a bit more. There were plenty of seats and table whilst you waited or you could just relax in here anytime with some games available and a book swap. There were plenty of fresh towels available. Restaurants: the three main restaurants need to be booked two days in advance even for the buffet which was a little bit tying but I understand why it is done this way. All restaurants even the quick service ones face the ocean Mahogony Restaurant (main buffet and occasional a la carte). The breakfasts were amazing with plenty of choice and the wonderful smiling Marcia on the egg station (here’s to another 23 years at Sea Breezes). I liked that most things were covered but wish the fruit could have been also. Lunch was okay but nothing great! The evening meals were very tasty but limited choice probably due to the size of the service area. The staff here was mixed – some very helpful and smiley and others not so much. Shout outs to Susan, Samantha, Sheree, Carlyle and Jerome Aqua Terra was an a la carte choice and the atmosphere and the food was really nice with good service and we couldn’t fault it. Cerulian was also an a la carte restaurant. The food was good but the service was abysmal. Nobody seemed to know who was serving who and on our first visit we waited over half an hour for our order to be taken then nearly an hour for our starter to be served. There were long gaps between the next two courses and were about to walk out when our dessert did eventually arrive. We had to request drink replenishment a few times. This did improve slightly on our next visits but we heard a lot of other people complaining about the service. This really needs to be sorted out and I did ask for my comments to be passed up the line. The Flying Fish and the Tipsy Bar did not require reservations but the at the Flying Fish, the food came from the same kitchen as Mahogony Restaurant so was only warm by the time it was put in front of us but tasted nice. The Tipsy Bar had a limited menu because it was only small but the tacos and loaded chips were fine The Rum Shop; situated by the Adult Only pool. Thank you to all of the staff here. They looked after us and came by the pool taking orders all day. The only fault we had was that the bottles of soda/pop were not kept cool so some of the drinks were “flat” but we got lots of ice in our drinks which freshened them a little. A HUGE shout out to Britney and Danielle. Britney especially was brilliant. She remembered people’s names and what their preferred drinks were and made sure you were kept hydrated. She did this with a big smile and made you feel like you had a personal valet. We were so happy that she her job was made permanent at the hotel and we wish her well for the future. Others to mention are Steve, Carlyle, Chesterfield and Cuthbertson who made the best fruit punch!!! During the day there was rum tasting, wine tasting, quizzes and other things being held with the ever energetic Deniko Twice per day the Freezy Breezy bicycle would come around with ice lollies (morning and afternoon) and ice cream (afternoons) which was a brilliant service and was loved by the adults as much as the kiddies Mahogony Bar: this was open at night and had plenty of choice and some evening entertainment. Thanks to all the staff here. Cerulian Bar; open at night with some entertainment which was good The beach and the grounds were well maintained. Our return transfer arranged through the hotel to the airport was on time and it was the lovely Daniel as our driver On the whole we had a really good time and may return but feel that some areas definitely need refurbishing as the resort has huge potential. We had an amazing family vacation (mom, dad and 3 adult « kids ») We were greeted by the friendly staff right at our transfer. They took care of our luggage while we enjoyed a welcoming bevvie and completed our super easy registration including nifty wrist bands that also serve as the room key. This is also where we were introduced to our amazing ambassador Deniko. He was magical in helping us to connect with excursions and getting the services we needed lined up for our week. He was available and responsive, kind, and caring. A real asset to the resort and Oistin. Our room was ready, and we changed and hit the beach and bar. The sand was powdery white and there was no shortage of beach chairs available. No need for Game of Chairs while we were here. Chairs were always available at the beach. Many fine Banks and Deputy beers were emptied during the week. The family reports the mixed drinks were also good. Sorry - no pool report. We didn’t use them, but did notice the Game of Chairs was more prevalent each morning at the adult only pool. The staff are incredibly friendly, kind and welcoming. Absolutely an amazing experience. Shout out to Marci at the omelette station (you are my morning sunshine) and Samantha and the rest of the staff at breakfast. You’re simply the best. Jerome at the Cerulean - you were graceful, kind and a joy to chat with. Food was excellent at all times. Each of the restaurants had a variety of items for everyone’s tastes. Service was stellar. Our room was clean, comfortable and well stocked with water each day. Housekeeping was thorough and tenacious. Some of the best room keeping I’ve encountered. We had a beautiful view of the ocean (and the adult pool). Lots of varied entertainment at night throughout the week. We really enjoyed the live music and the variety of sitting areas. We walked into Oistin for the Friday Fish Fry. It was awesome. We also rented a car (driving was an experience) and explored the island, visited the caves, chartered a sailboat and snorkelled. One week was just enough time to whet our appetites. Barbados is a beautiful island with wonderful kind, proud and amazing people. We’d stay at the resort again. An amazing experience. Read less
