I truly cannot fully put to words how beautiful of an experience we had at this resort. From our sea plane transfer to our welcome from our ambassador Shaff to the service from the every one of the staff was truly impeccable. Everyone’s hospitality a special thank you to Shine who helped us figure our room number the second night while we were trying to place our orders. And Irvan and Chandu who made our teppanyaki experience quite literally unforgettable from the entertainment to the live music Irvan really put the f in fun. Everything was so efficient so clean so organized and really well thought out. We stayed at the dolphin villa suite which had such a beautiful view of the sunset and sunrise. We are in awe of the resort from the start of our trip to the end we truly can’t recommend Sun siyam enough! We’ve just returned from the best holiday ever at Sun Siyam Iru Veli. Having been to the Maldives four times before, it was our first visit to this beautiful island. From the moment we arrived at the resort we were treated like royalty. Each and every one of the staff, no matter what role they played, were genuinely warm, polite and friendly. The management team were always present in the restaurants and the bars and were genuinely interested in building relationships with guests. It always impressed us that all the staff remembered who we were, remembered our room number and the drinks we preferred, whether that was in the restaurant or the bar. There are some members of staff who deserve a special shout-out for going the extra mile and making our stay so special and memorable. Our ambassador, Sharyaan was attentive and ensured that restaurants and trips were booked and overall kept in constant contact with us during the 2 weeks we were there. Azlif, the Operations Manager, made sure he found us every day to ensure we were having the best time. We’ve built a lasting relationship with him and are still in touch with him even though we’re back in the UK. Janith looked after our villa and continually went over and above to ensure we were comfortable. We forgot to bring our phone chargers with us and Janith lent us his charger for the whole 2 weeks. He was a lovely lad and called us mum and dad. We’ve also kept in touch with him since our return. Veejay looked after us in the restaurant ensuring that we had the best service and even set up a table on the beach for our last dinner. Overall, we had the most fantastic holiday and loved every second on this beautiful island. We’ll definitely come back. The best bits: * fantastic air conditioning * generous minibar filled with beer, wine, soft drinks, iced tea and iced coffee, Pringles and Mars Bars replenished daily * coffee machine with coffee pods replenished daily * fantastic outdoor bathroom with complimentary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion - no need to bring your own) hand and bath towels replenished twice daily including pool towels. * private pool - a very pleasant and welcoming cool-down during the day Nearby activities Plenty of activities if you want them. Being quite picky, we were never stuck for something to eat. The drinks menu in the bars extended over 17 pages with a fabulous selection of beers, wines, cocktails and premium branded spirits available on premium AI with a small selection that were chargeable. We were all really looking forward to our Maldives holiday, but it actually surpassed our expectations in virtually all respects. Sun Siyam Iru Veli is a wonderful resort and we enjoyed every hour of our stay. Where to start...? - The villa was fantastic; much larger and airier than expected, with a large pool and amazing being able to climb down the ladder into a world-class snorkelling reef. The diversity and colours of the fish in crystal clear waters was mind-blowing. - The food was terrific and the staff all so attentive. We enjoyed eating out at Grouper Grill and Roma, but Aqua Orange was the continuity feature of our stay with such a diverse and extensive buffet range, and a brilliant and incredibly hard-working team. - We didn't quite understand 'barefoot island' till we got there, but it really is; the sand and paths are all pristine and it was lovely strolling round. We never once felt bored or claustrophobic, and often seemed to have the whole beach or seemingly the whole pool to ourselves. - My wife dived four times and really appreciated the professional, friendly, and knowledgeable approach of the dive team. - We enjoyed getting to know more about Mauritian culture and society, and the Maldivian Roots evening and local island tour were both real highlights. - The Sunset Dolphin cruise is a memory that will stay with us forever, and it was fantastic being so close to the dolphins in such an amazing setting. Special thank yous to: - Shine in Aqua Orange who was so attentive, friendly, and helpful. And the whole team there including Eslam the Chef who was very kind to my daughter, and Kang the Queen of Ice Cream who was incredibly friendly to both children. - Tharindu the housekeeper who was so professional and helpful; nothing was ever too much trouble and the villa was immaculate throughout. Also to his colleagues Manod and Mahibub. We loved their coconut leaf art! My only cautionary note would be on the weather, which was mixed throughout our ten day stay, and much less stable than the guidebooks and websites indicate it should be in December. We had around five lovely clear days, three overcast and occasionally showery days, and two rainy days (one with a real Indian Ocean storm). This didn't spoil the holiday but is definitely worth thinking about - apparently it is the third year in a row conditions have been variable at this time of year.
