🌴 Two Weeks at Tamassa; A Guest's Perspective, A Hospitality Professional's Appreciation.. .

I have been thinking carefully about how to write this review because simply saying “five stars, great hotel, great service” would never be enough to describe the experience I had at Tamassa.
I recently spent two wonderful weeks at Tamassa during my holiday in Mauritius. It was a very special trip for me returning home, spending precious time with family and friends, enjoying the sunshine, the ocean, the food, the music and, of course, the wonderful Mauritian atmosphere.
But this stay was also special for another reason.
For many years, I have worked in hospitality myself, particularly as an entertainer, MC and resident DJ at Veranda Resorts. I know what happens behind the scenes to create memorable experiences for guests. I know the preparation, the teamwork, the long hours, the smiles, the celebrations and all the little details that guests don't always see.
This time, however, I was on the other side.
I was the guest.
And experiencing hospitality from that perspective gave me an even deeper appreciation for the people who make it happen.
❤️ From the moment we arrived; we were already feeling at home.. .
One of the strongest impressions I took away from Tamassa was the feeling that every single individual was there to make you feel at home.
From reception and guest relations to the restaurants, bars, entertainment, beach, housekeeping, security and all the people working quietly behind the scenes, there was a consistent feeling of warmth, professionalism and genuine hospitality.
I would like to personally thank the reception and guest-relations team, including:
Girish, Jenna, Ishna, Suhail, Fardeen, Yuvna, Preshna, Kevin, Akilesh and Rakesh.
I may not have managed to collect every name properly, and there may be some names missing from my list, but every interaction contributed to that welcoming atmosphere.
I would also like to recognise the entire security team throughout the resort. Although they are part of a private security company, they felt very much like part of the Tamassa family. They were professional, friendly and consistently greeted guests as they moved around the property.
That friendliness absolutely did not go unnoticed.
🎶 The Entertainment Team.. .
This section is particularly close to my heart because entertainment has been such an important part of my own professional journey.
A special mention goes to Ashley, a very young and promising talent with fantastic energy and positive vibes. Watching him reminded me of myself when I first started my own journey as an entertainer.
I could see that same enthusiasm, fire and passion, and I sincerely hope he continues to develop his talent and enjoy every step of the journey.
Thank you also to Adel, Swadish and all the girls in the entertainment team for the wonderful energy you brought to the resort.
And seeing the Sega entertainment during the birthday celebrations at the restaurants brought back so many memories of my own time at Veranda Resorts, where I also had the privilege of creating these kinds of moments for guests.
This time, I was sitting on the other side and watching another team create those memories. It was a beautiful feeling.
👶🏼👦🏾👧🏻 The Kids Club; a very special mention.. .
As someone who is also working as a kindergarden assistant here in Austria, I cannot leave the Kids Club out of this review.
I witnessed several times how wonderfully the girls from the Kids Club took care of the children.
They made sure the children were safe, well looked after, fed and entertained, while creating an environment where they could simply enjoy themselves.
For me, this was particularly meaningful because working with children has taught me how much attention, patience, responsibility and genuine care are involved in creating a safe and happy environment for them.
I wasn't simply seeing children having fun—I was noticing the people making that experience possible.
To the entire Kids Club team:
Thank you for taking such good care of the little ones.
This was genuinely among the highlights of my stay.
🍹 The Bar Team.. .
A huge thank-you to the entire bar team:
Hivesh, Nikhil, Ayush, Anniver, Vinod, Cloe, Mellison, Faid, Devesh, Yoven, Meven, Dhruv, Kavish, Pravesh, Akhilesh and Vishesh.
Whether working as cashiers, bartenders or bar waiters, every role contributes to the overall guest experience.
A guest may only see the finished drink and the smile that comes with it, but I know from my own hospitality experience that there is a whole team behind that moment.
Thank you all for the work, energy and hospitality you brought every day.
🍕 The Culinary and Restaurant Teams.. .
The culinary team deserves a big thank-you as well.
Chef Vicky & Chef Egino plus the entire kitchen team, thank you for your work.
And I absolutely have to mention Guru, the fresh pizza maker.
The fresh pizzas were a real delight! 🍕🔥 Guru, you definitely made an impression.
For the restaurant service, thank you to:
Matthew, Oceane, Jasmine, Ashvina, Deviannee, Noemie, Rosemary, Flaviana and Trisha.
A special mention to Deviannee, our lovely breakfast lady, and to Rosemary, whom we also met at the hotel shop. She was such a kind help, and we had the pleasure of buying some vanilla tea from her.
I would also like to recognise the restaurant managers and management team.
And one particular manager will probably recognise himself when he reads this; we had the pleasure of sharing a Mauritian rum tasting together! 🇲🇺🥃
That was one of those spontaneous moments that become beautiful holiday memories.
🍔 The Burger Bar Truck.. .
And then there was the Burger Bar Truck!
Davrishnee, Jessica, Babita, Karishma and Lovina; thank you for the great experience.
And the burgers?
WOW. 🥰🍔
Absolutely delicious and definitely one of those things I looked forward to during the stay.
🏖️ Beach House, Beach Kiosk & Beach Services.. .
Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get the names of everyone working at the Beach House, but I certainly won't forget them.
The Beach House team was consistently professional, friendly and attentive, particularly when it came to safety.
Before water activities, they made sure guests were informed about the sea conditions and whether it was practical and safe to participate.
They also gave useful advice regarding glass-bottom trips and snorkelling, including guidance from and also with the skippers.
That level of communication and attention to safety gave us confidence and made the activities even more enjoyable.
And then there was the forever smiling lady at the beach kiosk.
I don't know her name, unfortunately, but she was always making sure that fresh towels were available throughout the day.
It may seem like a small thing, but those small things matter.
I also want to thank the team responsible for the beach refreshments; the people making sure that clean cups, fresh fruit drinks and the cold-water point were always available.
Those details were a wonderful highlight of our beach experience.
🧹 Housekeeping & the people behind our room.. .
I only managed to get one name from the room-cleaning team: Aurore.
And I will probably always remember her because she somehow managed to lose her name tag while cleaning our room! 😂
But jokes aside, I appreciated the work she and the entire housekeeping team were doing every day.
I would also like to mention Rajesh, who was always making sure our mini-bar drinks were replenished.
And there was another lovely lady, possibly part of the housekeeping management team, whose name unfortunately I didn't get.
We had an issue in our room, and she handled it at reception with genuine professionalism. She promised to follow up, and most importantly: she did exactly that.
The problem was solved.
Anyone can say, “We'll take care of it.”
Actually following through is what matters.
Thank you.
💆🏾♀️🏋🏾 Spa & Fitness Team
I also want to recognise the people working in the Spa and Fitness Studio.
Although I didn't manage to collect everyone's names, the team was doing an amazing job and contributed to the overall feeling of wellbeing and comfort throughout the resort.
Thank you for your professionalism and for the work you do.
🌅 Sunset Vibes, Weddings & Celebrations.. .
We also enjoyed the Sunset Vibes atmosphere on the beach, and I would like to recognise the entire team working there. The entertainment, the foods, the musics, to be able to dance along on the beach, simply unforgettable.
During our stay, we were also lucky enough to witness beautiful weddings on the beach.
The setup was fantastic, and it was wonderful to watch the team create such a special moment for other couples.
We also witnessed several birthday celebrations accompanied by Sega entertainment at the restaurants.
As someone who has worked in entertainment, those moments brought back many memories of my own time at Veranda Resorts.
I know that behind every beautiful celebration there is preparation, coordination, timing, teamwork and a lot of work that guests don't necessarily see.
Watching it as a guest this time gave me a completely different appreciation for it.
🛍️ A little bit of Mauritius to take home.. .
I also want to mention the lady and the gentleman who were selling Mauritian souvenirs on the beach and during the Sega shows at the hotel.
I unfortunately don't have their names, but they contributed to the Mauritian atmosphere of the resort and gave guests the opportunity to take a little piece of Mauritius home with them.
Thank you for being part of those memories.
🌊 Ti Jean & our sea excursions.. .
And a very special personal thank-you to Ti Jean.
We had some wonderful excursions out at sea together, creating memories that will stay with us for a long time.
There are some experiences that cannot really be described in a hotel review.
You simply remember them.
The sea, the atmosphere, the conversations, the musics, the adventure and the feeling of being out there in Mauritius.
Thank you, Ti Jean, for those lovely memories.🌊🇲🇺
🌿 To the unsung heroes.. .
This may be the most important part of my review.
I want to acknowledge the people who are often not mentioned enough:
The gardeners.
The maintenance team.
The room cleaners.
The laundry team.
The kitchen and back-of-house teams.
The people keeping the public areas clean.
The people repairing, preparing, replenishing and maintaining everything behind the scenes.
These people may not always interact directly with guests, but without them, the guest experience simply would not be the same.
A beautiful garden doesn't maintain itself.
A clean and comfortable room doesn't happen by magic.
Facilities don't repair themselves.
Fresh cups, towels, drinks and supplies don't appear by themselves.
There are people behind every one of these things.
And I want those people to know that **their work was noticed and appreciated.**
🐈 And yes... the cats! 😂
I know this is probably the most unusual part of a hotel review, but I have to mention the resort cats.
I know that not everyone feels the same way about them, and some guests may prefer not to have them around.
But personally?
I absolutely loved their company. 👌🏾🐈
They became a funny and unexpected part of my stay and, for me, added a little extra character to the resort.
So yes, the Tamassa cats get a little mention from me too.
❤️ Looking at Tamassa through the eyes of a hospitality professional.. .
Perhaps the reason this stay affected me so much is because I was able to experience it from several different perspectives.
I was there as a guest.
But I was also looking at it through the eyes of someone who has worked as a DJ, MC and entertainer, and now also through the eyes of someone working with children.
I know what goes into entertainment.
I understand what goes into taking care of children.
And I understand that hospitality is ultimately about people.
That's why I noticed so many of the little things.
The greeting from a security officer.
The bartender preparing a drink.
The waiter serving breakfast.
The chef preparing fresh food.
The Kids Club team caring for children.
The Beach House team checking sea conditions.
The person bringing fresh towels.
The gardener taking care of the property.
The maintenance worker making sure everything functions.
The housekeeping team preparing the rooms.
The people working quietly behind the scenes.
Every single person is part of the experience.
🌴 Thank You, Tamassa
I came to Tamassa as a guest, but I left with an even deeper appreciation for hospitality.
Having spent part of my life giving this kind of service to guests, it was genuinely special to finally be on the receiving end and experience that same warmth for myself.
I came back to Mauritius for two weeks of family time, friends, sunshine, good vibes, music, food, laughter and beautiful memories.
Tamassa became an important part of those memories.
To every person I have mentioned by name, and to every person whose name I unfortunately didn't get:
THANK YOU 🙏🏾.
You may not always know which guests notice your work.
You may not always know which small gesture stays with someone.
But I noticed.
And I will remember.
Because a resort is not only its rooms, restaurants, pools, gardens or beautiful beach.
A resort is its people.
And during our two weeks at Tamassa, every single individual we encountered made us feel at home.
That is what I will remember most.
Thank you, Tamassa, for two beautiful weeks and for the memories we are taking home with us. 🇲🇺🌴❤️
With immense gratitude,
Manuela Neumann-Mercida & Guyanni Henrick Mercida.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at Tamassa Resort for making our stay once again such a memorable and enjoyable experience.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the reception team. A special thank you to Milena, Girish, Ayush and Suhail for their kindness, smiles and warm hospitality. You made us feel welcome from the very beginning.
A very special thank you to Mrs. Preshna, who went above and beyond throughout our stay to make sure everything was perfect and that we were well taken care of. Her genuine care and attention really made a difference.
But a very special mention and our deepest appreciation goes to Chef Jean Edhino, who was simply outstanding. ❤️
We first met Chef Edhino during our stay in August 2024, and coming back and seeing him again was such a pleasure. What touched us most was that he remembered us and once again showed the same warmth, kindness and genuine care that we experienced before.
Chef Edhino went above and beyond to personally look after my husband’s gluten-free diet. He did not simply make sure there were gluten-free options available; he took a personal interest in making sure my husband could enjoy his meals just like everyone else. He would check on him, make sure everything was suitable and safe, and make sure he was happy with what was being served.
That level of attention and care is something you don’t come across every day. As someone with a dietary restriction, having a chef who takes it so seriously while still making the food enjoyable gives you such peace of mind. Chef Edhino made us feel genuinely cared for, and for that we are truly grateful.
His professionalism, kindness, humility and passion for what he does really stood out to us. He is not only an excellent chef, but also someone who understands that the little personal touches can make a guest’s entire stay special. Chef Edhino is truly an asset to Tamassa, and we sincerely hope his dedication and exceptional service are recognised and appreciated. ❤️
A special thank you as well to Chef Geraldo and Chef Nitisha for their kindness and attention throughout our stay.
We would also like to thank Ana and Bradley from the bar service for their friendly and welcoming service, and of course Chef Babita, who prepares the most delicious burgers! 🍔 They were absolutely yummy and definitely deserve a special mention.
What makes Tamassa special is not only the beautiful resort, but above all the people who work there. It is their warmth, kindness and genuine effort that make guests feel truly welcomed and cared for.
Thank you to each and every one of you for making our stay so special. We are leaving with beautiful memories once again and with the feeling that we were genuinely cared for.
Thank you, Tamassa Resort, for another wonderful stay. We look forward to coming back! ❤️

It was my first time staying at Tamassa, and having visited many hotels before, I was genuinely impressed by the professionalism, hospitality and overall quality of service.
The location and atmosphere were absolutely lovely. The hotel is set in a peaceful and relaxing environment, with the beautiful sound of birds chirping around us. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a gorgeous sunset, which made the experience even more memorable. 🌅❤️
I was also amazed by the wide variety of both indoor and outdoor games available for adults and children. There were so many activities to choose from, making the hotel a great place not only for relaxation but also for families and guests who enjoy staying active and entertained. I really appreciated that there was something for everyone, regardless of age.
One thing I particularly appreciated was how quiet and peaceful the room was. Once inside, we could hardly hear any noise from the beach or the neighbouring rooms. It gave us the privacy and tranquillity needed to truly relax. Considering the comfort, location, atmosphere and overall service, I definitely felt that Tamassa offered very good value for money.
Unfortunately, I did experience an issue with the door lock. Although it took almost three hours for the matter to be resolved, I felt that initially the maintenance team was not taking the necessary action to resolve it promptly. It was when Ms Preshna and Mr Nishaad personally stepped in and took charge of the situation that things really started moving. Thanks to their intervention, I was eventually upgraded to another room and the issue was properly resolved. I sincerely appreciated the way they handled the situation and made sure that I was comfortable and well taken care of.
A very special thank you to Ms Cecilia form the reception, Mr Ayush from the reception, Ms Preshna, Mr Nishaad - operating manager and Mr Pravesh- f&b manager. They were welcoming, attentive, helpful and professional throughout my stay, and their service contributed greatly to my overall experience.
The room was clean and comfortable, the food was delicious, and I particularly appreciated having a bidet in the bathroom. The complimentary gifts were also a wonderful surprise and honestly exceeded my expectations. ❤️
Another aspect that really stood out to me was the way guests were treated. I did not feel there was any difference in the level of service provided to local guests and tourists. Everyone appeared to receive the same care, attention and respect, which is something I truly appreciated.
Overall, despite the inconvenience with the door lock, my first experience at Tamassa was a very positive one. The peaceful surroundings, beautiful sunset, variety of activities, comfortable room, delicious food and especially the professionalism of the staff made my stay memorable.
Tamassa truly offered a wonderful combination of relaxation, entertainment and hospitality, and I would definitely be happy to return. ❤️
