A week at the escape at nonsuch bay really WAS a great escape. Located on the quiet side of the island, the property is lovely and the room exactly as advertised. The food was delicious and plentiful. We never felt hungry and enjoyed every meal. The drinks were great as was the bar service. A very small property, and service was exceptional! Between Keirah at reception and Maxine in the dining room- we have never felt so well taken care of at a resort. All the staff were amazing and were a huge part of this happy trip for us. The resort is quiet in the evenings but a very relaxing vibe, everyone staying was friendly and we had some fun evenings with our fellow guests. Loved the hummingbirds, mongoose, nature walk on Thursday afternoon, snorkelling with the turtles at green island and a taxi tour of the island. The one important thing to consider if you are thinking of staying here - and the only negative thing I can think of - the beach on the property is not great and if you are a beach lover it probably won’t cut it for you. BUT! Half Moon Bay is a short $15pp taxi ride away, and you can rent an umbrella and lounge chairs ($30 for two), and enjoy some reasonably priced food and drink at the beach bar. That beach was spectacular (think white sand, crashing waves, great swimming and snorkelling, off the beaten path) and close enough to not rule the Escape out entirely based on concerns about the beach. Just know you will not be rolling out of bed directly onto a beach - it requires a minor amount of effort to get there. Overall, a great getaway, we would not hesitate to recommend! Read less

Location was in a stunning place set in a secluded bay and very peaceful beach. Not great if you have accessibility needs but fine for us as had a nice walk to the beach, quite hilly and fairly steep but only 10 minutes walk. Beach was very quiet and secluded with very warm sea water with a nice restaurant called Breeze which is great for lunch for stunning views of the sea with a relaxed atmosphere, pool and cabanas. Escape pool is small but you could always find a sun bed and was great watching the hummingbirds go about their business. Suites at the escape are fairly good but quite tired and could do with a bit of TLC but shower was nice and powerful and hot. Pillows and bed could do with being a bit firmer but the plunge pool and bath in the terrace are a highlight and again watching the hummingbirds from your terrace is a treat. Rooms are cleaned every other day which was ok with us and of an acceptable standard. Would say that on the whole was expecting a bit more value for money in terms of the resort quality (some little touches could really make a difference) but what really is good is the food quality, plenty of beverage options, some amazing staff members (Randy on reception, Maxine, Micah and Agatha on the meal service), great tour to Green Island swimming with turtles and a lovely quiet beach. Kayaks are available free of charge from the dock which is great and turtles can be seen in the Bay Area. If you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet place this is ideal and you can hire a car and book various trips to other parts of the island through the hotel. Pete’s Taxis are local and provide a good reasonable reliable service. Great place for a full wind down away from normal busy life but if you’re looking for a gym, extensive activity schedule and nighttime entertainment, this is not geared for that. Make sure you take mosquito repellent. Read less

We thoroughly enjoyed two weeks at The Escape recently. This boutique hotel on beautiful, peaceful Nonsuch bay is perfect if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday. The public areas, pool, and reception area are perfect for the property size, nothing is far away. There is no view from the pool, that was a bit of a shame. We embraced checking in through the app, and someone met us on arrival in reception to navigate us. Our room was well designed, the bed very comfortable and we adored the lovely plunge pool, using it more than anticipated. My only disappointment, was the lack of vlothes hanging space, its very small. The beach is a lovely, fun boat ride away. Just book on the app and wait on the jetty. You can take the short walk to the beach, but there are a couple of very steep inclines which should be avoided if you have health issues or dodgy knees. It's not bad though if you choose not to use the boat. The beach is beautiful, and some days we were on our own for an hour. I've no idea the obsession on social media regarding the sea weed. It is present, but people seemed to swim in it happily. Rum punch and iced water is available, but no bar. It was fine. One day we tried lunch at Breeezes above beach, it was nice and the views were lovely. We spent a few days sunbathing on the jetty in the bay. It's absolutely gorgeous down there. I'd highly recommend sitting peacefully and watching the wildlife, especially the fish. There are Scholes of Trumpet fish and Zebra fish. Drop a leaf in the water and watch the Trumpet fish leaping backwards and forwards over it, truly wonderful. There are some big old fish hiding in the mangrove too, we even saw a Ray fish😁. We took the kayak out, it was beautiful paddling around the bay. All of the staff were absolutely lovely at the hotel. I can honestly say that we found the service and professionalism to be the best we've experienced in the carribean, it was consistentour whole two weeks. . The staff seemed to be on a rota between the restaurant and bar, it worked well, as everyone was very well trained to work in the bar. We enjoyed the cocktails, the beer and the wine very much. The food was great, fresh and flavoursome. The a la carte lunch and dinner you choose from three choices for each course. I enjoyed every meal, and there was plenty enough food. I would have enjoyed a few more vegetables or salad with meals, that's all. If you are looking for a buffet restaurant, nightlife and entertainment then this is not the hotel for you (as clearly explained on the website ). The bar shuts at ten (but the lovely staff will make sure you have drinks), but you will be lucky to see anyone in the bar after 9. Forgot to mention the weekly bbq - delicious!!! There is nowhere within walking distance, so you need a car or to use taxis. Personally, I've better things to do on holiday than dodge pot holes. We booked taxis through the reception and enjoyed the views and free tour guide instead. We found Nonsuch to be positioned well for visiting the sights. It's a small island, but so are most roads. On social media a lot of people seem to be concerned with taxi prices. Prices are not high, they'rereasonable. Fuel is expensive and locals need to earn a decent living wage, so please bare in mind. You can always find cheaper, but personally I'd rather use a professional who's insured. We hired Ms Higgins to tour us around the beautiful historical sights and views of Antigu. She was great, we had a wonderful day. Doing the tour within days of arriving really set us up for knowing where we'd like to return to, would recommend. What really impressed me about Antigua was that they've really embraced, and present the historical sites history in a very professional way, moreso than other islands. Nelsons dockyard is stunning , a few character re-enactments at Nelsons dockyard were all that was missing!! We booked Shirley heights Thursday bbq through reception, that was fun, and well worth the trip. Lobster was divine, drinks were reasonable. I would return to Nonsuch bay in a heartbeat, we had such a fabulous time there thanks to all the staff including chefs, cooks, gardeners and domestics. Read less

We spent our honeymoon at Escape at Nonsuch Bay in Antigua and Barbuda, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The location is incredible — we had a bay view, and waking up every morning to such a breathtaking panorama was unforgettable. The view is stunning all day long, especially from the private plunge pool in the villa. The room itself was extremely comfortable and beautifully maintained. The staff were outstanding — from the kitchen team to the restaurant service, front desk, and housekeeping. Everyone was professional, kind, and attentive. The services offered are excellent and truly enhance the experience. We also did the turtle tour with Dave, which was amazing — we saw so many turtles around Green Island. I highly recommend this experience to everyone. If you have the chance, like we did, rent a car — it’s very affordable and allows you to explore the whole island in just one day. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to disconnect and relax, surrounded by beautiful mangroves and peaceful nature. A truly unforgettable experience that will always stay in our hearts.
