Great service, location, facilities and resort though setup for smokers

I would love to give a 5 star rating had it not been for the smoking allowances which I am astonished to see hardly anyone comment on in these reviews. More on this later as other than this, I thought the resort was fantastic.
From the moment we arrived, the level of customer service from the staff was incredible and we couldn’t help but feel a little special as we received welcome drinks, refresher towels, a tour around in the buggy and introduction to our Island Host. We had Rushikesh who was great and provided us daily details via WhatsApp.
All staff go out of there way to ensure you have the best experience. Their professionalism and positive friendly attitudes should be commended. I really liked things like Manu’s beaming smile in the restaurant where she seemed to know everyone and their room number each time anyone comes in for a meal. Our room was cleaned twice a day and although I have forgotten the housekeepers name, the guy who did this for us was great and really seemed to take pride in his work to keep things spotless. We had the Sunset Beach Pool Villa which had an excellent location close to the main pool and restaurant. We went snorkelling from our beach over to where you arrive in on boat and saw 30+ different types of fish and some sting rays so enjoyed that and felt we didn’t need to do a special snorkel trip. The food and variety of food was excellent with yummy ice-cream available for lunch and dinner being my favourite. It’s a great place to try squash, badminton and other land sports here as the facilities are great, free and easy arrange in the sports shop. There were many other positives about our short stay and we will never forget the beautiful water colour you see looking out from the resort.
As mentioned at the start, the place is definitely setup for smokers. It seems the only place people can’t smoke is ‘inside’ the restaurant. We had to avoid lounging by the main pool since there is not a single area would where we couldn’t smell the stench of guest cigarettes. I noticed in in the captain’s bar close to the main pool that there was one table with a non smoking sign. This was comical as the large fans in the place made sure smoke was blown across the entire area making no distinction between the tables and another place to avoid for non smokers. As a 5 star hotel, I can’t help but feel this just isn’t good enough. Yes, we could have hung out by our own private pool (and did) though there are many rooms here without a pool and for non smokers wanting to go for a drink at the bar, they will have to put up with a constant cigarette smell. As not many reviews have mentioned this negative aspect, I don’t expect any changes at Villa Nautica in this regard but wanted to mention it for those who dislike the smell like I do. If I was a smoker, I wouldn’t be able to recommend the place enough. As I am not, I struggle to recommend Villa Nautica if non smoking families were planning on relaxing by the main pool and bar here.
Despite the smoking issue, I still very much enjoyed my stay here. The staff made us feel special and made our holiday very memorable. Thanks team.
