ARRIVAL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS We had a fantastic stay at Villa Nautica from Monday to Sunday in August and came away with some amazing memories. Everything was extremely well organised from the moment we landed. Our flight arrived at around 6:30am and a Villa Nautica representative met us at the airport and arranged our speedboat transfer straight away. We reached the resort in around 20 minutes. As official check-in wasn't until 2pm, we expected a long wait, but our host Ibrahim arranged a temporary room where we could rest and freshen up until our Deluxe Pool Villa was ready. This was hugely appreciated after travelling overnight. Ibrahim was fantastic throughout our stay. Anything we needed, we could simply message him on WhatsApp and he would arrange it, while also keeping us updated. The resort itself is beautiful and, despite being quite highly occupied, never felt overcrowded. It still had a lovely peaceful atmosphere and walking around the island was very easy and enjoyable. DELUXE POOL VILLA We absolutely loved our Deluxe Pool Villa. Having our own private pool was fantastic, and being able to walk through the garden and straight onto the beach made it even better. Our housekeeper Ramesh was always pleasant and kept the villa extremely clean with housekeeping twice a day. We had one maintenance issue when the visibly worn toilet bidet/shattaf hose split while we were out, causing the bathroom to flood. Reception responded quickly and maintenance replaced it. My only suggestion would be for visibly worn fittings like this to be picked up during routine preventative maintenance before they fail. Two other very minor suggestions would be slightly better screening around the private pool area for improved privacy, particularly around the fence and beach entrance, and moving the veranda washing line further underneath the covered area so clothes don't get wet when it rains. These genuinely are suggestions rather than complaints and didn't take away from how much we enjoyed the villa. POOL, ACTIVITIES & ALL-INCLUSIVE We had the all-inclusive package and found plenty to do. The main infinity pool became one of our favourite places and we spent time there almost every day enjoying the pool, snacks and drinks. We went kayaking on three days and also did the sunset fishing trip, which was a great experience. Before travelling, we were worried about August being rainy season. We did have some rain during the first couple of days, but from Wednesday to Sunday the weather was mostly beautiful and sunny. SNORKELLING: THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR HOLIDAY The absolute highlight for us was snorkelling. Neither of us are confident swimmers, so initially we were extremely apprehensive about trying it. We borrowed the complimentary snorkelling equipment from the dive centre, used flotation devices and started by practising in shallow water where we could stand whenever we wanted. Once we became comfortable with the equipment, we tried the house reef and absolutely loved it. Before long we were confidently snorkelling for more than 10 minutes at a time and couldn't believe the amount and variety of beautiful fish we could see. We enjoyed it so much that we bought waterproof phone pouches and managed to take some amazing underwater videos. For two people who aren't confident swimmers and were initially nervous about even trying it, discovering how much we loved snorkelling was probably our favourite memory of the entire holiday. Obviously everyone should stay within their own swimming ability and comfort level, but using flotation devices and building our confidence gradually made a huge difference for us. FOOD & RESTAURANTS We ate most of our meals at Bageecha Restaurant, where the buffet had a good variety and we always found something tasty. I particularly enjoyed the Asian Corner at dinner by Chef Suddas. A special mention also has to go to Sanampreet, who was always extremely friendly, pleasant and hospitable. Our package also included a complimentary dinner at either the Italian or Japanese restaurant. We chose Fukuya Teppanyaki after Ibrahim advised us to book early as it gets busy. I'm not normally a big Japanese cuisine person, but I ended up really enjoying both the food and the whole Teppanyaki experience. I'm very glad we chose it. THE STAFF The staff were one of the things that really made Villa Nautica stand out. Ibrahim was excellent from the moment we arrived, and arranging a temporary room after our early arrival was a particularly thoughtful touch. Being able to contact him throughout the holiday on WhatsApp also made everything incredibly easy. Ramesh kept our villa in excellent condition and was always pleasant and friendly. Sanampreet was consistently welcoming and hospitable at Bageecha, and we really enjoyed the Asian Corner prepared by Chef Suddas. OVERALL Villa Nautica was fantastic. Beautiful surroundings, a great infinity pool, plenty of activities, good food, an excellent house reef and, most importantly, wonderful staff. Even though the resort appeared to be quite highly occupied, it never felt uncomfortably busy and maintained a lovely peaceful atmosphere. The few improvements mentioned above are minor suggestions and didn't detract from our overall experience. We felt extremely well looked after from the moment we arrived at Male airport until the end of our stay. A huge thank you to Ibrahim, Ramesh, Sanampreet and Chef Suddas for helping make our holiday so memorable. We'll especially remember Villa Nautica as the place where two very apprehensive, not particularly confident swimmers discovered that they absolutely love snorkelling! We would happily recommend Villa Nautica and would give our stay 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Read less
