The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

Where is it

On the north coast of Mauritius, in Kalodyne, close to the fishermen’s village of Grand Gaube. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

Hotel information

214 rooms and suites, set in two half moons, infused with Mauritian identity. All with air-conditioning, satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, telephone, mini-bar*, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, safe, iron and ironing board, and souvenir flip flops. 

Superior Rooms with terrace or balcony have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years.

All Inclusive of: breakfast in the main buffet restaurant Karay. Lunch at Lor Disab beach restaurant, Gran Zil BBQ and Taba-J snack bar. Traditional Mauritian afternoon tea at Taba-J snack bar (sweet, savouries and pancakes). Dinner in the main buffet restaurant Karay, Tadka Restaurant, Kot Nou and Manao. Guests also enjoy two dinners at Lor Disab beach restaurant (reservations required, minimum stay 5 nights). Alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and hot beverages including water, soft drinks, juice, locally bottled spirits, beer, wine by the glass, and filter coffee. A selection of drinks and snacks at the bulk shop from 8:00am-11:00pm. Tea, coffee and sweet local goodies from 3:30pm-6:00pm at Taba-J. Local snacks served with evening drinks. Mini-bar with water, beer, soft drinks, juice and dry snacks (replenished once per day). Picnic baskets available for day excursions. Plus 20% discount on one Mauritian massage for bookings 9:00am–2:00pm (minimum stay 5 nights).Please note: All Inclusive is available from time of arrival to time of departure. Selected menu items may incur a supplement, charged locally. Dinner reservations may be required. Guests may enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in one of the other Attitude Hotels (applies to a selection of restaurants subject to availability, prior booking required, transfers not included).

Room upgrades

Superior Partial Sea View Rooms, Superior Sea View Rooms (with views across the gardens and pool towards the sea) and Superior Beachfront Rooms all have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child (under 12 years).

Family Rooms feature a main bedroom area and adjacent living area with canopy bed which converts to a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children/teens.

Family Deluxe Rooms have two en-suite bedrooms (one with double bed and a kids' room with 3 single beds), sleeping maximum 2 adults and 3 children or 2 adults and 2 teens.

Family Apartments consist of two interconnecting Superior Rooms that share a joined entrance hall. Family Apartments Sea View consist of two interconnecting Superior Sea View Rooms (double beds or twin beds) that share a joined entrance hall. They sleep maximum 4 adults and 2 children.

Couples Deluxe Partial Seaview Rooms and Couples Deluxe Beachfront Rooms (with direct sea view) both have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couples Junior Suite Beachfront Rooms with a separate living room, and 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couples Privilege Suite Sea View or Couples Privilege Suite Beachfront, both with jacuzzi and 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Couples rooms and suites include bathrobes.

Karay (main buffet restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner), Manao (Thai restaurant, open for dinner), Lor Disab (adult-only beach restaurant, open for lunch and dinner), Tadka (Indian cuisine, open for dinner), Kot Nou (Mauritian cuisine, open for dinner), Gran Zil BBQ (located on private island, open for lunch), and Taba-J (Mauritian street food, open for lunch). 4 bars: Siro Kann main bar, Lor Disab beach bar, juice bar and Tea Baz (tea bar).

6th trip back to Mauritius and Zilwa Attitude is certainly up there with the best. Trendy, comfortable, well equipped rooms with everything you need for an island stay. The food was amazing, with Lor Disab having the most incredible food on offer. We visited the small adjacent island Gran Zil for the lunch time braai, which was also awesome. Food on a small island always hits better. Phoenix beer, enough said. The water activities are sufficient in the shallow bay and we took a day trip via speed boat to Ilot Bernache with Brian, which we booked through Big John who is always on the beach. The father and son duo offered up a really packed morning with snorkeling, a trip through the mangroves and then time on the small island in the turquoise waters. Real big thanks to them. Outside the above the hotel has a number of warm pools, each with amazing views of the blue water and surrounded by palm trees as you'd expect on an island. Thanks to the Zilwa Attitude team for the fantastic week and looking forward to a return trip to be planned in the near future. Bonus for cat and dog lovers with a few friendly animals around to pet. In particular, the outstanding service and delicious food at Tadka and Lor Disab provide that extra touch of exclusivity within the all-inclusive stay. The swimming pools are beautifully designed, especially the infinity pool, which offers a phenomenal view. We definitely recommend this hotel in Mauritius; we had a wonderful holiday here. Read less

Zilwa Attitude Hotel absolutely exceeded our expectations on this second visit! The front desk was so welcoming, specially Mr. Vivian Marie and all the staffs went above and beyond. Our room was spotless. The hotel has amazing views. The breakfast buffet has so many delicious options. Really enjoyed our dinner at both Lor Disab & the Thai restaurant Manao. The hotel is absolutely perfect for leisure travelers. Highly recommended. Couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Moreover, I really loved the fact that we were able to check out late with the All Inclusive Package and therefore enjoy all the hotel facilities until the last minute. We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay at Zilwa Attitude. I would highly recommend for families and adults alike. The staff were very welcoming. Particular favourite was the Mauritian restaurant which stood out in terms of both food and service. The kids club was excellent, proving a wide range or activities to keep the little ones entertained between 9am and 9pm. The evening entertainment was great too. Pilates classes were my favourite. I wish there were more of them throughout the week. The housekeeping team were very attentive and looked after our room making sure we had all we needed. The check out process was smooth and having the option to book a shower before departure was very welcome. We have really enjoyed the Spa. I had one of the best deep tissue sports massages ever. I particularly liked the eco touches and valued that the property was BCorp certified. There were no single use plastics, even the bin liners were made of fabric. It’s so great to be able to stay in a hotel that cares about the environment and shares our values. We will definitely be back. Read less

We had such an amazing stay at Zilwa Attitude and honestly didn’t want to leave. We had no complains we found everything to be 10/10. The views are absolutely breathtaking and you really feel how special the location is from the moment you arrive. The hotel is beautifully laid out and there’s so much to do, whether you want to relax or keep busy with the many activities on offer for free by the hotel. What really made our stay though were the staff. Everyone was so warm, friendly and genuinely happy to help and there were always plenty of staff around which made everything feel easy and relaxed. It created such a welcoming atmosphere and made us feel very well looked after every moment of the day. One of the highlights was the island BBQ, which felt like a real treat and a unique experience. The food throughout our stay was incredible, with so much choice and consistently high quality. Overall, Zilwa Attitude exceeded our expectations in every way. It felt relaxed, welcoming and special all at once, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Mauritius. If you’re going as well, please always try feed and help the stray cats and animals in the country. Read less
