The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and relaxing, but what truly made our experience unforgettable was the incredible staff. A special thank you to Nitish, who always greeted us with a warm smile and made sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. Varsha was so kind, attentive, and genuinely caring—it felt like she treated every guest like family. Jovany was always cheerful and ready to help, making every interaction pleasant. Arvind was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. Namrata was incredibly welcoming and always took the time to check that we were enjoying our stay. And of course, a huge thank you to Chef Arvin. Every meal was delicious, beautifully presented, and prepared with so much care. His passion for cooking was evident in every dish, and he was always happy to recommend something special. It’s rare to find a team that works together so well while making every guest feel genuinely valued. Their warmth, dedication, and attention to detail turned a great holiday into an unforgettable one. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so special. We booked Zilwa, having read a range of good reviews that suggested it was great value for money - however, it completely exceeded our expectations for a 4 star hotel! The aesthetic appeal and setting is second to none and the views were stunning at every turn, whether it be of the pools, accommodations, lovely gardens or beaches. We have stayed in 5 star hotels that have been far less appealing! We enjoyed all the restaurants (Manao a particular highlight as others have said), including the buffet , which offered excellent quality dishes. What stood out the most though was the commitment and friendliness of the staff - exceptional on every level. One waitress (apologies for not knowing her name, she had a dark haired ponytail and worked at Lor Disab) even remembered what drinks we had ordered on a previous night, despite meeting us only once before! Nothing was too much trouble and service was outstanding whether at the bar, reception or in the restaurants. If you are all inclusive, you can use the facilities right up until you leave, which for us was 4pm, and despite check out being midday, we could keep our towels, still have 'free' food and drink, and use the courtesy shower room (bookable) before we left for the airport. We had massages at the spa, which were excellent value (although be aware that 15% VAT is added afterwards), and the masseuses brilliant. Rooms are simple in style but spotless and the shower area was great. Bed was very comfortable (effectively a super king). The only thing I would say is that a 'partial sea view' might not be worth the extra (about £150 for us) - we were in 2213 and could just about see the horizon in two places! But the garden view was beautiful so we didn't raise it and others have had a better one so it's luck of the draw. Others have mentioned the 'gritty' quality of the sand on the beach - don't let this put you off. The beaches still look beautiful and with sea shoes it's fine, plus there are 'softer' sandy beaches 10 mins away. Sun beds plentiful and in a variety of locations. Although we visited as a couple and there were others too, there were more children than we perhaps anticipated (for Mauritius in general!) but this was not an issue - just something to be aware of though if you want a hotel that is mainly couples/adults. You cannot really walk out from the grounds of the hotel as the roads lack pavements but the hotel has its own taxi service outside. We also used Taxi Bhavish, a Zilwa driver, for three day excursions and he was brilliant, knowledgeable, friendly and excellent value for money. Overall, Zilwa is superb value for money when you consider the cost of other hotels on the island and we would thoroughly recommend. Read less

A wonderful stay with many options of activities and many nice restaurants at the resort. We would particularly like to express our enthusiasm for the Thai restaurant, Manao. Wonderful settnings, excellent food and the service level is outstanding. The resort staff are all very helpful and friendly, and the entire atmosphere is lovely.
