Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

Where is it

On the north coast of Mauritius, in Kalodyne, close to the fishermen’s village of Grand Gaube. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

214 rooms and suites, set in two half moons, infused with Mauritian identity. All with air-conditioning, satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, telephone, mini-bar*, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, safe, iron and ironing board, and souvenir flip flops. 

Superior Rooms with terrace or balcony have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years.

All Inclusive of: breakfast in the main buffet restaurant Karay. Lunch at Lor Disab beach restaurant, Gran Zil BBQ and Taba-J snack bar. Traditional Mauritian afternoon tea at Taba-J snack bar (sweet, savouries and pancakes). Dinner in the main buffet restaurant Karay, Tadka Restaurant, Kot Nou and Manao. Guests also enjoy two dinners at Lor Disab beach restaurant (reservations required, minimum stay 5 nights). Alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and hot beverages including water, soft drinks, juice, locally bottled spirits, beer, wine by the glass, and filter coffee. A selection of drinks and snacks at the bulk shop from 8:00am-11:00pm. Tea, coffee and sweet local goodies from 3:30pm-6:00pm at Taba-J. Local snacks served with evening drinks. Mini-bar with water, beer, soft drinks, juice and dry snacks (replenished once per day). Picnic baskets available for day excursions. Plus 20% discount on one Mauritian massage for bookings 9:00am–2:00pm (minimum stay 5 nights).Please note: All Inclusive is available from time of arrival to time of departure. Selected menu items may incur a supplement, charged locally. Dinner reservations may be required. Guests may enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in one of the other Attitude Hotels (applies to a selection of restaurants subject to availability, prior booking required, transfers not included).

Room upgrades

Superior Partial Sea View Rooms, Superior Sea View Rooms (with views across the gardens and pool towards the sea) and Superior Beachfront Rooms all have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child (under 12 years).

Family Rooms feature a main bedroom area and adjacent living area with canopy bed which converts to a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children/teens.

Family Deluxe Rooms have two en-suite bedrooms (one with double bed and a kids' room with 3 single beds), sleeping maximum 2 adults and 3 children or 2 adults and 2 teens.

Family Apartments consist of two interconnecting Superior Rooms that share a joined entrance hall. Family Apartments Sea View consist of two interconnecting Superior Sea View Rooms (double beds or twin beds) that share a joined entrance hall. They sleep maximum 4 adults and 2 children.

Couples Deluxe Partial Seaview Rooms and Couples Deluxe Beachfront Rooms (with direct sea view) both have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couples Junior Suite Beachfront Rooms with a separate living room, and 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couples Privilege Suite Sea View or Couples Privilege Suite Beachfront, both with jacuzzi and 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Couples rooms and suites include bathrobes.

Karay (main buffet restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner), Manao (Thai restaurant, open for dinner), Lor Disab (adult-only beach restaurant, open for lunch and dinner), Tadka (Indian cuisine, open for dinner), Kot Nou (Mauritian cuisine, open for dinner), Gran Zil BBQ (located on private island, open for lunch), and Taba-J (Mauritian street food, open for lunch). 4 bars: Siro Kann main bar, Lor Disab beach bar, juice bar and Tea Baz (tea bar).

We stayed at this hotel for 12 days, and overall we really liked it. The hotel territory is very beautiful, green, and well maintained. Cleaning starts early in the morning, and you can clearly see that the staff take great care of the area. Most of the employees are very friendly and welcoming. I would like to mention a few negative points. Unfortunately, the breakfast service in the main restaurant, specifically in the indoor area with the small island, was disappointing. There were two male staff members who were not friendly at all. They never cleared the plates, even though at 7:30 a.m. there were only three tables occupied, so there was no big rush. They also never came to ask about coffee, did not clean the dirty tables, and as a result birds would land on them, take food, and scatter it on the floor. Because of this, the area often looked dirty. However, I would like to say something completely different about dinner service — it was amazing! The waiters in the evening were wonderful, very kind, attentive, and genuinely interested in making guests happy. Everything was done very quickly, and they always came to ask if we needed anything else. I would especially like to thank and mention two people: Ranjeet Singh and Dooshita. Thank you so much — you are amazing, a great team! I really hope the management will notice you and recognize your excellent work. There should be more employees like you. The food was always very tasty. Special thanks as well to the pizza man with glasses and to the woman who prepares omelets — both were very friendly. Spa experience: My husband and I chose two different 90-minute massages. I selected a relaxing massage after the flight, while my husband chose a massage focused on his back and neck pain. Unfortunately, despite choosing different treatments, we both received exactly the same massage. The massage itself was very poor and felt more like light stroking rather than a proper massage. I regularly get massages during my vacations, and honestly, this was the worst massage experience I have ever had. The therapists did not seem to have good technique, and during the head massage they used their nails instead of their fingers, which caused very unpleasant sensations. I would not recommend the spa. The hotel itself is very beautiful. During the last 4–5 days of our stay, there was a lot of dirt caused by seaweed on the beach, and it was not cleaned. This is a small issue, but I mention it so that someone notices and starts cleaning — it would be much more pleasant for guests. The rooms were always well cleaned. However, our room (2411) could use some renovation, especially the bathroom. The toilet door did not close properly and was squeaky, and there were quite a lot of ants inside. These are minor issues and did not spoil our vacation, but I hope the hotel will hear this feedback and improve these points. Overall, everything was great, and we enjoyed our stay. Read less

We recently spent the day at Zilwa Attitude on a day package with a group of around 13 friends and colleagues, and honestly, it was such a lovely experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt easy and well organised. The welcome was warm, the staff were friendly and attentive, and you could really feel that they cared about making our day enjoyable. The food was excellent, with lots of choice and great quality. The barbecue at Grand Zil was a real favourite for our group, and the hotel buffet was fresh, tasty, and well prepared. The atmosphere throughout the day was relaxed and enjoyable with the activities in the hotel. We laughed, ate well, and simply enjoyed being together in such a beautiful setting. Every person in the group had a great time. It was a truly enjoyable day with friends, and once again, Zilwa Attitude lived up to its reputation. It’s one of those places you keep coming back to, knowing you’ll never be disappointed. We’ll definitely return. Read less

We had a great welcome at Zilwa attitude upon arrival with Mr. Amrish, Mr Giovani and team. Our stay was memorable as we had the beachfront room. The staff hospitality was excellent. Food was simply beyond our expectations as the buffet was more than a big variety. We really recommend Zilwa attitude.
