The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

Where is it

On the north coast of Mauritius, in Kalodyne, close to the fishermen’s village of Grand Gaube. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

Hotel information

214 rooms and suites, set in two half moons, infused with Mauritian identity. All with air-conditioning, satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, telephone, mini-bar*, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, safe, iron and ironing board, and souvenir flip flops. 

Superior Rooms with terrace or balcony have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years.

All Inclusive of: breakfast in the main buffet restaurant Karay. Lunch at Lor Disab beach restaurant, Gran Zil BBQ and Taba-J snack bar. Traditional Mauritian afternoon tea at Taba-J snack bar (sweet, savouries and pancakes). Dinner in the main buffet restaurant Karay, Tadka Restaurant, Kot Nou and Manao. Guests also enjoy two dinners at Lor Disab beach restaurant (reservations required, minimum stay 5 nights). Alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and hot beverages including water, soft drinks, juice, locally bottled spirits, beer, wine by the glass, and filter coffee. A selection of drinks and snacks at the bulk shop from 8:00am-11:00pm. Tea, coffee and sweet local goodies from 3:30pm-6:00pm at Taba-J. Local snacks served with evening drinks. Mini-bar with water, beer, soft drinks, juice and dry snacks (replenished once per day). Picnic baskets available for day excursions. Plus 20% discount on one Mauritian massage for bookings 9:00am–2:00pm (minimum stay 5 nights).

Room upgrades

Superior Partial Sea View Rooms, Superior Sea View Rooms (with views across the gardens and pool towards the sea) and Superior Beachfront Rooms all have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child (under 12 years).

Family Rooms feature a main bedroom area and adjacent living area with canopy bed which converts to a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children/teens.

Family Deluxe Rooms have two en-suite bedrooms (one with double bed and a kids' room with 3 single beds), sleeping maximum 2 adults and 3 children or 2 adults and 2 teens.

Family Apartments consist of two interconnecting Superior Rooms that share a joined entrance hall. Family Apartments Sea View consist of two interconnecting Superior Sea View Rooms (double beds or twin beds) that share a joined entrance hall. They sleep maximum 4 adults and 2 children.

Couples Deluxe Partial Seaview Rooms and Couples Deluxe Beachfront Rooms (with direct sea view) both have 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couples Junior Suite Beachfront Rooms with a separate living room, and 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couples Privilege Suite Sea View or Couples Privilege Suite Beachfront, both with jacuzzi and 1 double-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Couples rooms and suites include bathrobes.

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful hotel for just under 2 weeks from the 4th of October 2026. We loved the authentic, traditional and relaxed style of the rooms. We found the cleanliness of the room excellent as well as the rest of the hotel. The toilets throughout the hotel were constantly spotless and there seemed to be cleaners present constantly, which was nice to see. The food at the main buffet restaurant and all the A La Carte restaurants was exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the “Kot Nou” restaurant. The food here was amazing and the staff (Mohun, Bibek, Chef Vick, Chef Shristy and Krishna) really made it memorable. It’s vital to note that this hotels entire vibe isn’t just from the stunning views and aesthetics, but from the staff that work within it. They are honestly some of the nicest bunch of people we have ever come across and they really made our honeymoon. We want to say a special thank you to Arvind and Ashley from the Main Bar - they were exceptional. Nitish (food and beverage manager), who made sure the food and drinks were to a high standard and Farad - or “Alibaba Delboy” as he’s called - for making us laugh and selling us the best cashmere on the beach we can take home to our family. During our 2 week stay, there was a comfortable level of guests to the point where we never had to wait for anything. There was always more than enough sunbeds available around the pool and around the beach, even at 10am! The hotel in the day is quiet and relaxing. The hotel has its own private island, which can be reached by a raft that runs regularly from 11am. On this small island is a beautiful beach and a BBQ lunch. We spent the day here with a couple of friends we made and had the best time. Excursions are easy to book via the reps on the beach and for a great price. A big shout out to Denis, who we booked our excursions with and had the time of our lives. It was also very nice to see that there are a few dogs that live around the grounds of the hotel, and are very polite and friendly and are looked after by the hotel. They were a funny addition that we enjoyed seeing. Overall we couldn’t fault the hotel, the food, the drinks, the staff and Mauritius itself. We will definitely be returning! Read less

Good family resort, but below what I expected from a 4-star hotel. I stayed for 4 nights in a Family Room. The strongest aspect of the hotel is clearly the kids club, with well-organized activities and a very friendly team, especially Kristell, who did an excellent job with the children. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly affected by the way restaurant reservations were handled. I contacted the hotel about a month before my trip to ask for recommendations on how to make the most of my stay. They took around 15 days to reply and never mentioned that the restaurants required advance reservations or that they could be fully booked several days ahead. Upon arrival, I received a letter stating that pre-reservations had been made, but when I checked, I discovered there were actually no reservations at all. Apart from one restaurant, everything was fully booked and we ended up dining at the buffet almost every night. Breakfast was good and varied. Dinner was acceptable, but several dishes advertised on the menu were often unavailable. The rooms are comfortable but nothing special, and soundproofing is poor, making it easy to hear what is happening in neighboring rooms. The water sports and leisure activities look interesting, but many finish early or are only available once or twice per day with limited places. The private island also did not justify the additional cost of lunch. Overall, a pleasant hotel for families, but nothing that truly sets it apart from the competition. Read less

The breathtaking setting, outstanding food, and above all, the incredible people make every stay truly special. The variety of restaurants and cuisines was excellent, with something for everyone, from authentic Mauritian dishes to international favourites. Every meal was a pleasure. What makes Zilwa stand out is its team. From reception, housekeeping, restaurants, bars, spa, beach services, entertainment, and operations, everyone works with genuine warmth and professionalism. You can feel that they care about their guests and take pride in what they do. A special thank you to Jovany, Elodie, Nitish, Vikram, Valerie, Mohun, Zalfah, Veronique, Arvind, William, Wendy and Neena, Pratab, Roven, the Grand Zil team, and the Chef, for making our stay even more memorable. We stayed at Zilwa attitude for 11 nights from 7th September. Location: The hotel is enclosed with security on the gates so you know you’re safe. Taxis were easily accessible on the desk just outside of the hotel and the town (Grand Baie) closest was only a 10 minute drive away. We liked that our taxi driver took us and waited for us so we were able to find him easily and didn’t have to worry about booking another taxi back. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The view is breathtaking as you walk through into the lobby/bar area. It really was luxurious. When we arrived on our first morning, we were greeted with a welcome drink, had everything explained to us and then was shown our way to the restaurant to get some breakfast. It felt so welcoming. Our hotel room itself was lovely but the only thing we found was that the bed was quite hard. But of course this is personal preference. Our room was super clean. The cleaners did such a lovely job. The hotel itself was also really clean. Staff were always around cleaning and keeping the place well maintained. We also loved the bulk shop! On previous holidays we have spent money having to buy large bottle of water. We absolutely loved that we could top our water up daily with no additional charge plus you can get snacks, soft drinks and beers! The food was superb. We really enjoyed the buffet restaurant as well as Tadka, the Thai restaurant and the beach restaurant. We honestly couldn’t complain. There was so much choice with all options. The snack bar was also lovely. Again, staff couldn’t do enough for you. The staff as a whole were excellent. I want to give a shoutout to Suman, the barman/waiter. He was brilliant and so helpful. We also want to give a shoutout to Maanish, Rishi from Tadka and Danvir. You guys were brilliant!!! We honestly couldn’t fault anything on this holiday. It was so beautiful and luxurious. We highly recommend. Also side note, if you’re staying don’t forget they do free water activities! We found out too late that we could go snorkelling free of charge with the hotel. We managed to book the glass bottom boat and go paddle boarding & kayaking. Read less
