The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

My husband Anthony, our daughter Mia, and I (Claire) have just returned from a magical 10-night stay at Zilwa Attitude at the end of June, and we cannot recommend this incredible hotel enough! We visited slightly out of season, and while the staff kindly suggested returning in November for the super hot weather, we found the late-twenties temperature absolutely perfect for us. The occasional light rainfall was even a welcomed, refreshing break. We are already planning our return for 2027 or 2028 and simply cannot wait to go back! Beautiful, Spacious Rooms & Impeccable ServiceOur room was stunning, spacious, and filled with local charm, including beautiful cultural riddles painted on the walls. The shower was amazing, and the patio—complete with a relaxing swing and loungers—overlooked the most luscious gardens. The service here is next-level. We were welcomed on arrival with delicious handmade macarons. A massive, heartfelt thank you goes to our incredible housekeeper, Manoj. We frequently returned to a spotlessly clean room, often surprised with gorgeous fresh flowers and creative towel art.A Private Island ParadiseOne of the absolute highlights of Zilwa Attitude is that it has its own private island. Attached to it is a second, even tinier island. At one point, I was the only person standing on it—a truly surreal, peaceful moment! The waters surrounding it are crystal clear, with dozens of tiny fish swimming right around your feet. Outstanding Activities & Boat House Crew Mattchou and Wayne at the boat house are the sweetest, friendliest people you will ever meet! They always had the biggest smiles, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They offered free private trips to the hotel's island, shared fascinating stories about Mauritian culture, and happily sorted us out with kayaks, pedalos, paddleboards, and sailboarding. They truly made my daughter Mia's trip unforgettable. Anthony and I also booked the sunrise boat trip, which was heavenly and an absolute highlight of our holiday. An Incredible Team That Feels Like FamilyThe bar staff kept our glasses full with the most amazing cocktails. A special mention must go to Arvind and Suraj, who made us feel exactly like family. They always remembered our names, wore massive smiles, and treated Mia like an absolute princess. In fact, the entire team went so far above and beyond. We want to give a massive thank you to Husna, Catherine, Mellissa, Hemant, Nitish, Dursun, Paul, Danny, Sashi, Tatyana, Shetty, Shubham, Mitish, Zalfah, and Mohun, alongside the reception staff, porters, and reservations team. There are many more whose names we have forgotten, but whose incredible service we will absolutely never forget.Incredible Dining & EntertainmentWith so many restaurants on-site, you can always find something tasty to eat. We absolutely loved the Indian, Thai, and central pizza/sandwich restaurants. However, the absolute best of the best was the private lobster dinner we booked—OMG, it was sensational! While the main buffet offered a massive multitude of dishes, a few things weren't quite to my personal taste, but my husband Anthony thoroughly enjoyed every single morsel! The hotel also keeps you entertained with a fantastic variety of activities throughout the day, which we found super easy to track using the schedules on the hotel app.Thank you to everyone at Zilwa Attitude for giving the three of us memories that will last a lifetime. See you all again in 2027/2028! Read less
