The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

My experience at the Zilwa Attitude hotel was outstanding. The location is absolutely beautiful, with the hotel surrounded by stunning nature and incredible waters, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. The rooms were up to standard and very comfortable overall. We stayed in a family room, and although the extra bed was not as comfortable as we had hoped, the staff responded immediately and brought us an additional mattress to ensure we were comfortable. We really appreciated how quickly this was resolved. The hotel grounds were extremely clean and very well maintained. We also had no issues with noise during our stay, which made the experience even more relaxing. The food was delicious, especially at the Mauritius experience restaurant, Kot Nou, where we received great service and really enjoyed the experience. We also visited the bar, Siro Kann, every night for drinks and the amazing entertainment. Each time we went, we were greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. What stood out most during our stay was the staff. Every issue or request we had was dealt with immediately and with genuine care. Every single member of staff we met made us feel at home and treated us more like family than guests. A special shoutout to a few members of staff who helped make our experience even more memorable: Maanish, Juana, Jovany, Nitish, Vishwesh, Dany. Overall, we had a fantastic experience at the Zilwahotel. The beautiful surroundings, great food, entertainment, cleanliness, and especially the incredible hospitality from the staff made our stay one to remember. Read less

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An amazing hotel with truly wonderful people We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Zilwa Attitude and can honestly say we have never been to a hotel quite like it. From the moment you walk into the resort, the view is something you can’t really imagine until you see it for yourself. It is absolutely picturesque, looking straight out across the water, and the whole resort is just beautiful. We were lucky enough to have a lovely room looking straight out onto the beach and we couldn’t have been much closer to the lobby, so the location was perfect for us. The rooms themselves are quite simple, but had everything we needed and were very comfortable. If we had one tiny criticism, it would be that the lighting in the room could have been a little stronger, but that really is a very small point. What makes Zilwa particularly special, though, is the people. There were so many members of staff who went above and beyond for us and really helped make our holiday. A special mention has to go to Cedric and Wendy at the spa. Cedric gave an amazing massage and Wendy was absolutely brilliant too. We would definitely recommend paying the spa a visit during your stay. Kevin from the entertainment team was another standout. He was brilliant and genuinely couldn’t do enough for us. We also received such wonderful service in the restaurants. Ashley and Charlene were fantastic, and a big thumbs up to Nitesh, who was in charge of the restaurants and looked after us so well. The restaurant teams as a whole were excellent and made us feel very welcome. We also want to give a special mention to Victor, one of the hotel’s drivers, who took us on our trips around Mauritius. He was extremely professional, friendly and had so much knowledge about the island. He told us so many things about Mauritius that we would never have known otherwise, which made the trips even more interesting. We would highly recommend finding Victor if you are planning any trips during your stay — he was brilliant and can also be found on Facebook. Overall, we had an amazing holiday. Zilwa is a beautiful resort in an incredible setting, but it is the people who really make it what it is. So many members of staff went out of their way to make our stay special and we came home with some wonderful memories. A huge thank you to everyone at Zilwa Attitude. We would absolutely recommend it. ❤️ Read less

Our stay at Zilwa Attitude was truly something very special. What makes this hotel so unique for us is not only the beautiful resort itself, but above all the incredible warmth and genuine family atmosphere that you can feel from the very first moment. You don't simply feel like a guest here – you feel genuinely welcomed, cared for and looked after. The staff greet you with warm smiles, genuine attention and a kindness that makes your stay truly special. This feeling of comfort, well-being and “feeling at home” is something we will remember for a very long time. We would especially like to mention a few wonderful people who made our stay even more memorable through their friendly, warm and attentive nature: Ashley, (Arvin – our Chef Lor Disarb -Great Job) Sashi, (Roven, Mike, Venkat Grand Zil Team), Nitish- (fantastic), Shameen(wonderful) Mohun, Bibek, Chef Vick and Paras, Danvir, Philip our Skipper for Snorkeling:) Each of them contributed in their own special way to making us feel completely comfortable and welcome. It is exactly these personal encounters and the little – and big! – gestures that make a holiday unforgettable. An absolutely amazing team – every single one of you! 😊❤️ A very special thank you also goes to the entire team behind the scenes. You can truly feel that hospitality here is not simply a job – it comes from the heart. For us, Zilwa Attitude is therefore something truly special. It is not just a beautiful hotel in Mauritius, but a place with soul, warmth and a genuine family feeling. It is also a wonderful place to find peace and relax, without annoying loud entertainment or constant animation – apart from the Aqua Gym, of course! 😄 The daily complimentary snorkelling trips are fantastic. We were lucky enough to see turtles several times! Snorkelling equipment, including masks and fins, is available free of charge on site, which is a fantastic service. Lor Disab is absolutely world-class and the cocktails are simply a dream! 🍹😍 So we would definitely recommend booking All Inclusive. And the food deserves a special mention too. All four à la carte restaurants are absolutely fantastic, as are the Street Food options and Karay, the main restaurant. We were genuinely impressed by the food, service and drinks. This is premium All Inclusive – definitely not your standard AI experience! 😊 Our room was always spotlessly clean, and we found the air conditioning to be pleasantly quiet, especially when sleeping. We had requested a mattress topper before our arrival because we are both lightweight (58 kg) and prefer a softer mattress 😅 – and our request had already been taken care of when we arrived. Such a lovely and thoughtful touch! The catamaran trip is also worth every euro and is something we would happily do again. Having lunch right in the middle of the mangroves is absolutely beautiful and makes for a very special experience. 🌴⛵ For us, September was a very pleasant time to travel. And even if the weather happens to be a little windier, Gran Ziloffers a wonderful sheltered day with plenty of relaxation and a delicious BBQ. ☀️🍖 We are leaving with so many beautiful memories and truly hope that one day we will return. Mersi bokou, Zilwa family!❤️ Thank you to the entire Zilwa team for making our stay so wonderful, for your warmth, your hospitality and for making us feel like part of the family. Please read until the end - this hotels deserves it! We have been extremely lucky to travel to many places around the world, but I can genuinely say that Zilwa Attitude is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. There is something incredibly special about this place. We got engaged during our stay, which means Zilwa and Mauritius will forever hold a very special place in our hearts, but I want to make clear that our experience of this hotel goes far beyond that. Even without the engagement, I would still be writing this review and giving Zilwa 10/10. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away. As you walk through the hotel and turn the corner into the main lobby/bar area, the view almost stops you in your tracks. The ocean, the mountains, the island out at sea, the palm trees – it genuinely looks like a postcard. It was the most incredible first impression, and somehow the rest of the hotel lived up to it too. The hotel and grounds The whole concept of Zilwa being inspired by a traditional Mauritian fisherman’s village is beautifully executed. You can tell that an enormous amount of thought has gone into the design and layout of the resort and, more importantly, into how guests actually experience it. The grounds are immaculate, with lush green landscaping, beautiful palm trees and incredible ocean views almost everywhere you look. It never felt overwhelming or overly busy. The private island is also such a special touch. Taking the little boat across for the day, enjoying the lunchtime barbecue and seeing the resort and ocean from a completely different perspective was wonderful. Our sea-view room was spacious, comfortable and full of lovely Mauritian details. We later learnt more about the traditional flooring, walls and decorative touches, including the plates on the wall, which are designed to recreate elements of an authentic Mauritian home. These little details give Zilwa so much character and stop it feeling like a generic resort. If I had to find one single thing to improve – and I genuinely am scraping the barrel here – it would be slightly better lighting in the rooms for us ladies getting ready and doing makeup in the evening! That is honestly about as critical as I can be. The food – absolutely five star The food at Zilwa is exceptional. There is so much variety, with authentic Mauritian food alongside Indian and Thai influences and plenty of other choices. Even the main evening buffet – which can sometimes become repetitive at all-inclusive resorts – was one of the best all-inclusive buffets we have experienced. Every evening felt different. There was huge variety, but importantly there was still real care and attention given to individual dishes rather than simply producing large quantities of food. Breakfast was equally brilliant – lots of fresh food, eggs and omelettes cooked to order, plenty of choice and the opportunity to try Mauritian-style breakfast dishes too. Lunchtime was another thing Zilwa did incredibly well because there were so many different options depending on what you fancied that day. You could stay down by the beach and have your more typical relaxed all-inclusive lunch where you could simply pick what you wanted, or head up to the main restaurant where lunch was table service with a really good and varied menu. There was also the Mauritian street-food truck, which we loved. The menu changed regularly and we had things like amazing fried rice and chicken wraps – another brilliant way of bringing some of the local Mauritian influence into the resort. And if you didn't want to leave your spot on the beach, that wasn't a problem either! You could order from the main restaurant and they would package your food into recyclable takeaway boxes for you to take back down to the beach. Pizzas, wraps, chips, salads – pretty much whatever you fancied. It sounds like a small thing, but having that flexibility was such a lovely touch and meant you never felt restricted about where or how you had to eat. Another fantastic service that is really worth knowing about is the picnic option for days out. If you have an excursion planned, you can arrange it with the hotel the day before and they'll prepare a picnic for you to take with you, including sandwiches, fruit, cakes and drinks. We thought this was such a thoughtful touch and another example of how Zilwa seems to think about what will actually make its guests' holidays easier. What impressed us most throughout the whole food experience, though, was how accommodating everyone was. If we wanted to amend something or ask for something slightly different, it was never a problem. On our final day, we were even told at lunch that if there was anything in particular we wanted before going home, they would cook it for us. Where do you get service like that?! The all-inclusive drinks package was also excellent, with a really good range and quality. There are a small number of drinks with a supplement, such as Aperol Spritz and Espresso Martinis, but even these were priced extremely reasonably – around £3 in some cases. It never felt as though the hotel was trying to make extra money from you. For an all-inclusive resort, the quality, choice and flexibility around food genuinely exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere – complete zen One of the things we loved most about Zilwa was the atmosphere. This isn't your stereotypical all-inclusive resort with loud music playing around the pool all day. The best way I can describe Zilwa is zen. We have honestly never felt so relaxed. It isn't adults-only and there are families and children at the resort, but it still has a wonderfully grown-up, peaceful feel. Everything just feels calm. The evening entertainment was lovely, with fantastic singers and musicians, and the music created such a beautiful atmosphere without ever becoming intrusive. The entire resort was also absolutely spotless. There always seemed to be somebody quietly maintaining or cleaning something, and throughout our stay we barely saw so much as a piece of rubbish. The spa – so good we went FOUR times! The spa deserves its own mention because it was genuinely one of the best we have ever experienced – so much so that we ended up having treatments four times during our stay! The setting is beautiful and the whole team made us feel incredibly looked after. On the day we got engaged, my partner had arranged for us to travel across to a tiny secluded part of the private island for a couples massage. It was honestly magical and something we'll remember forever. A very special mention has to go to Neena. Both I and members of my family had treatments with her and, quite simply, she gave us some of the best massages we have ever had. She is attentive, warm, incredibly talented and seems to work magic with her hands! Neena absolutely deserves recognition. But the thing that REALLY makes Zilwa special is its people I could talk all day about the views, food, rooms and facilities, but the biggest reason we fell in love with Zilwa is the service. It is exceptional. From the people cleaning the pools and grounds, to housekeeping, breakfast staff, bartenders, restaurant teams and the people taking guests across on the boats – we did not have a single interaction with a member of staff that wasn't warm, friendly and helpful. Everywhere we went we were greeted with smiles. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. More than anything, it genuinely feels as though the people working at Zilwa care about the hotel, enjoy what they do and want every guest to have an amazing experience. I wish I could name everybody because the entire team deserves recognition, but there are a few people who made our stay particularly special. Ardash looked after us throughout the day and also when we visited the Thai restaurant. Super friendly, incredibly helpful and just phenomenal service throughout. He is a real asset to the Zilwa team. Ashley and Sharlene looked after us on three visits to Lor Disab, the beautiful beach restaurant, and were impeccable every time. They were so friendly, happily helped us make amendments to dishes and played a huge part in making each of those evenings feel special. Kunal looked after us regularly at breakfast and at the Thai restaurant. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He remembered our drinks orders, happily accommodated requests and was consistently warm and helpful. A huge, huge thank you also has to go to Nitish. His passion for the food and restaurant experience at Zilwa is obvious. He checked in with us on so many evenings to make sure we were enjoying everything and would regularly bring additional dishes for us to experience. During our Mauritian meal, he arranged an incredible authentic shrimp and chicken dish for us to try, which was absolutely delicious. He clearly cares deeply about the experience his guests receive and went above and beyond for us throughout the holiday. The food at Zilwa is outstanding and Nitish and his teams deserve enormous credit for that. His service was five-star and you can see how much he genuinely wants every guest to have the very best experience possible. Then there is Kevin, Head of Entertainment. From practically the moment we arrived until literally minutes before we left, Kevin was checking in with us, chatting to us and sharing stories and insights about Mauritius and Zilwa. He is just an extremely lovely guy who clearly cares enormously about the hotel and its guests. And his DJ sets deserve a review of their own! The music he played in the evenings was genuinely world-class and created such a fantastic atmosphere around the hotel. Finding out about his history as a DJ suddenly made complete sense! He seemed to know exactly what to play and when, and the music became part of our memories of Zilwa. More importantly, though, he was just an incredibly nice person who genuinely cared about whether we were enjoying ourselves. He is another huge asset to the hotel. And finally, Gregory. It's difficult to put into words how grateful we are to him. Unknown to me, before we even arrived in Mauritius, Gregory had been helping my partner Andy organise what would eventually become our proposal day. Throughout our stay, he was incredible. He gave us a tour of the resort so we could understand more about Zilwa, its story and everything it offers. We could contact him on WhatsApp if we needed anything. He arranged our late checkout, constantly checked that we were enjoying ourselves and, behind the scenes, helped Andy make one of the most important days of our lives absolutely perfect. That, to me, is hospitality at its absolute finest. Gregory will forever be part of our memories of Mauritius and our engagement because of the care he put into making it so special. Zilwa has an absolute asset in him and I genuinely hope that one day we return and find him running the hotel! And if you want to explore Mauritius – find Victor! I also want to give a huge recommendation to Victor, who isn't part of Zilwa but made our experience of Mauritius itself even more special. We actually found Victor through Facebook around a year before our holiday after reading his fantastic reviews. His prices were extremely fair and what impressed us was that even throughout the year leading up to our trip, he kept us updated about Mauritius, excursions we could do, the weather and anything else that might help us plan our holiday. When we finally met him, he was every bit as good as we'd hoped. We had two trips arranged with Victor and his approach summed him up perfectly. On the day we were originally due to explore the south, the weather wasn't looking good. Rather than simply taking our money and doing the trip anyway, Victor contacted us and suggested rearranging it because he wanted us to experience the south at its best. He moved everything around to work with the weather, and that tells you everything about the level of service he provides. Our Five Islands trip was incredible and something I would absolutely recommend. Crystal-clear blue ocean, dolphins, turtles, monkeys, birds, snorkelling and a barbecue – just an amazing day and one of the highlights of our holiday. Our second trip exploring the south of Mauritius was equally brilliant. We visited temples and tea plantations and, because it happened to be a public holiday, Victor took us to a local street market where we had some of the best chapatis and local food of the holiday. We also visited 23 Valleys, where we did quad biking and karting, which was so much fun. But what made the experience particularly special was Victor himself. During the journeys he gave us such a lovely insight into Mauritius, its people and everyday life on the island. These weren't huge coach excursions where you're following a crowd around all day. We had private transfers and private experiences, which made everything feel so much more personal. I cannot speak highly enough of Victor. If you're planning a trip to Mauritius, I would absolutely recommend finding him on Facebook and seeing what he offers. His service was five-star from a year before we arrived right through to the trips themselves. A very special place Mauritius itself is beautiful and its people are incredibly warm, but there is something particularly special about what has been created at Zilwa. Everybody who works there should be incredibly proud. We arrived hoping for a wonderful holiday and left feeling as though we'd discovered somewhere we will talk about for years. Yes, we also happened to leave engaged, which made an already incredible holiday unforgettable, but it was the people, atmosphere, service, food and sheer beauty of Zilwa that made us fall in love with the place. There genuinely isn't anything meaningful I would change. The setting: 10/10. The food: 10/10. The atmosphere: 10/10. The service: beyond 10/10. To every single person at Zilwa who looked after us: thank you. You made us feel so welcome and gave us an experience we will never forget. This is a special, special place. We left a little piece of our hearts in Mauritius – and particularly at Zilwa. We will absolutely be back. ❤️ Read less

We are back from a first family holiday at Zilwa Attitude travelling as a couple with our little 11-month baby. It was just amazing. From the moment we stepped into the hotel and see the sea view through the reception area and the welcome received, everything was just breath-taking. Photos of the view do not do justice. Sitting there with a drink, and just taking in the view, was just something else. As we were early arrivals, we were able to use the facilities from the moment we got there. We had a late breakfast, then took a stroll around the hotel to get to know the surroundings. Guest Experience team were really helpful from day 1. Our little one needed special requirement for all her meals, and the team made sure to know every single detail for her. We were introduced to chef Sanjeet, who ensured us that the team would be able to provide her special meal requirement during our stay. Thank you to chef Sanjeet and all the other chefs who were available and made sure our little one was able to have fresh food prepared for all sittings and even to take away during our days out. During our stay, it got to a stage, where the Guest Experience team knew what she would have, and would order the food for us, and when it came to dining, they would bring it out. Yeshna, Kanavi and team were always really brilliant assisting us. The waiting team were also really friendly and all times and kept our little one entertained during her meals. There are far too many too mention. Jovani was always also on hand during our stay to ensure we encountered no issues, and that any requests we had were being taken care of. He also took some time out to say hello whenever he saw us. We were even introduced to some of the senior members of team, including directors, who always said hello to us on a regular basis, and had a brief chat. During the later end of our stay, we were then met by Nitish who also took time out his schedule to make us feel welcome. We had an A La Carte booked at Kot Nou, and he made sure that it was set up specially for us. As we are Mauritians visiting Zilwa, Nitish requested the kitchen staff to prepare some authentic Mauritian dishes that were not on the menu. That made it really special for us. Mohun and his team welcomed us on the day and looked after us really well. We enjoyed the Kot Nou experience so much, that we went back for a further 3 nights, and as it was our anniversary, I requested Nitish whether it was possible to make it even special, by preparing my wife’s favourite dessert treat. Nitish and Chef Sanjeet did not disappoint. Kheer and Dhal Puri was very nice, as well as the rest of the authentic Mauritian dishes. To be honest, all the restaurants had their own positive. We did try Manao and Tadka as well as Gran Zil. But as we had a little one with us, we could not try the Lor Disab Adults only experience. Instead, Nitish and team arranged for us to have a taster experience during one of our lunches at Lor Disab. This was a real treat for us. Thank you. Jovani had arranged a little treat to us for our room and asked the Chef to prepare us some Napolitains. As he was not around during the end of our stay, Nitish and Chef Sanjeet made sure we received this. Ah, the Taba-J experience; Catherine was there most of the time during our stay, would also kept us entertained, and was always very friendly. I cannot remember the other names of all the other staff, but they were all just as friendly. I still remember our first day at the hotel, meeting Catherine, and having our Roti and Dhal Puri and some Panacon juice. When it came to our room, Shahir was always on hand to make sure our room was the way we wanted it to be. Whenever we wanted fresh sheets or towels to be changed, it was never a bother for him. At the start of our stay, he helped us settling in, arranging an iron, and making sure the bed would be suitable for our baby also. As we hired a car, we were able to visit the island at our own pace, and even the security at the gates became so friendly and would always know when we were leaving or coming back and would shout hello to us. They would always shout out our room number '2313' when we drove up to the gates, and said hello. The staff throughout the hotel were so friendly and welcoming. It felt like after the first few days everyone started to get to know you, and before long, you felt at home. The only couple of points I would say that can be improved: - Check-in. We arrived at the hotel around 0900, and we do understand that the check-in is not until 1400. However, it would have been nice if we could have had the room slightly earlier, or at 1400 itself. But we were not taken to our room until 45 minutes after that time. Check-Out. We had opted for a late check-out, but the day before we received a letter to say check-out is at 1200. I had to go to the reception to query and was informed that this is a generic letter printed out. However, our keys were still deactivated at 1200 on check-out day, and I had to go back to reception again to re-activate the keycards. Otherwise, all in all. there’s something about Zilwa that is difficult to capture in photos or even in a review. It’s beautiful, but it’s also incredibly relaxed and welcoming, and for us, made us feel at home. Sitting back and trying to remember it all is not easy to put in words but brings back a smile always. Words to not do justice, It’s the experience that counts. Amazing 2 weeks spent at an amazing hotel, with the friendliest of staff I have met who made our family feel at home. Thank you for all the memories Thank you to you all Can’t wait to be back again very soon. The Mooruth family (room 2313) Read less
