The hotel

Pure paradise if you’re heading to Hawaii for its beaches, Alohilani boasts contemporary design and is steps from Waikiki Beach’s exclusive ‘Kuhio’ stretch. You can be snorkelling, surfing or swimming just moments after you arrive. If that’s not enough water, Alohilani Resort’s 280,000 gallon Oceanarium is filled with Hawaiian reef fishes, creating a soothing setting for drinks at O Bar and island breakfasts at Lychee. And, if your aquatic thirst still isn’t quenched, the fifth floor pool deck’s an impeccably chic setting, with its infinity pool, paddling pool, bar, overstuffed teak loungers, driftwood sculptures, and ocean views. You could even splash out on a cabana or water lounger. By night, it’s a magical space with lanterns, fire pits, and live music, ideal after dining in one of its two restaurants led by world-famous ‘Iron Chef’ Masaharu Morimoto.

We noticed that some of the amenities had been cut like the nicer dinners/breakfasts with the Longboard club and most of the furniture around the pool, dining areas and at the cabanas were extremely worn and in need of replacement. I would have given a lower score, but there are still some of the most amazing staff that work at the establishment that really worked hard to make sure the guests feel comfortable and welcome. Some of the notable standouts are Jones, Shade, Emily, Princess K and Bryant. Read less

We had a lovely time at the Alohilani Resort, and the food and service at the Swell restaurant and pool was top notch! Ku’ulei was always a delight to have as a server, and the aloha spirit shines through her!
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Do not stay. The staff's rudeness takes the Hawaiian magic away.

Jasmine at the Front Desk is an amazing associate. She was very accommodating and super friendly to me and my girlfriend. The Happy Hour Mai Tai was good, and the bell staff was great. Our room 1066 was great, thanks Jasmine! Fitness center was great. The pool staff and interns are extremely rude. Whoever is training them needs to be fired. I worked in luxury hospitality for years and I never have seen such bad service. My girlfriend asked for towels and they asked for proof, in the rudest way. We had just arrived and our room hadn't been made ready yet. So, I had to walk down and get confirmation that we were staying there. Other days we'd ask for beach towels which they had folded in front of our faces and stated we needed to get them from other areas of the hotel... They had probably 20 folded rights there. Every time we'd walk to ask a question to concierge they would try to sell us a time share presentation, super tacky. One night we were celebrating a milestone in our relationship and ended it by dipping into the jacuzzi/pool at 9:30 P.M. Once we got down even with 30 minutes till closing the pool staff were cleaning items up, mind you the patio was full and a DJ was playing so it's not like we were keeping them open. They took my robe from the room that was on the lounger with my belongings in it and I had to stop them, and then he said, "well it's close to closing time anyways." He ruined the moment of sweetness to cap off our night swimming in the pool (which was missing tiles all over the place.) Instead of cleaning my personal belongings you should wipe the tables after guests are done because they were always disgusting with smeared sunscreen and food scraps every day. I'm appalled by the treatment of most of the staff of this resort. I wish they never got a dollar of my business, for the way they treated my girlfriend and I. Read less
