Got here late last night and child bed not made up so we had to wait for this. Tried to book restaurants today but no availability for the week. 4pm and room still not cleaned. No sunbeds in shade and loud music everywhere. Building work on cafe so this is crammed into buffet restaurant. 3rd visit but this will be last

We went to the Beaches Negril about a month ago.... I can tell you, the stay was hit and miss... more miss than hit, but oh well. The flight to Montego Bay was fine. The airport greeting crew was as usual. The transport to the hotel was long, but we knew about it beforehand. The greeting at the property was actually very good. Kamal, met us at the concierge “club”? and took us to our room. He was very good, courteous, young man and we wish him nothing but success in his career. The occupancy rate due to the rain / hurricane season was about 38-40%. One would think with those low numbers the service would be top-notch, but no... It wasn’t. First thing, we had been with Sandals, since 2011, and we are diamond guests. I was always told that “we are a cashless resort” and outside of spa and dive shop it was basically true. In fact, I had issues leaving money for a few employees before where I had to get GM involved to make it all legal. This trip I saw multiple times bar people taking tips, cafe people taking tips, etc. Second, we had a GM luncheon for diamond+ guests like we always do. There were 4 people present including my wife and our son. GM did NOT even say hello to us or even introduced himself. He was sitting at another table with the fourth guest and never even acknowledged our presence. I had never seen anyone so unprofessional in my life. Maybe Sandals should pay Peter Fraser to come out of retirement and show them how to run the property and be a good GM, but I digress. Third, I had tried to call the room service about 10 times, and I was only able to get through once. Every time I had to call concierge services and let them place an order for me. When I raised that issue via WhatsApp, Giselle from guest services told me that everything is working as intended and she “recently” tried it and it worked. Also, if I don't know how or can’t do it myself, I should call concierge services. Which was not the problem. No one was picking up the phone. And the last thing was the trip back to the airport. They overfilled the bus, so to help people with kids we got off the bus and took another transport to the airport. About 30 minutes into the ride our van overheated, and we were stuck on the side of the road for about 40 minutes waiting for another van to come and take it us the rest of the way to the airport. Let's just say it was a rough ride to the airport to say the least. Now about the good things: the room was nice and clean; the housekeeping was very friendly and did their job very well; multiple managers and staff members at all the restaurants were very friendly and helpful. The bar people were friendly as well. I spoke with a few beverage managers, and we had good conversations. It did rain almost every day, but none of the days were a washout. Chefs at the Mariachi cooked tuna and steak to perfection. Kimonos was great as well, the food was not overcooked, and the chef was not too loud as they are most of the times. We had a great time. Stella never overcooked any of the egg benedicts. Overall, the food apart from Yaku which was weird, was good. Some of them were too spicy for my wife, but our son and I both enjoyed the spice fair. The beach is what I would say is the single most exciting and beautiful feature of this resort. The Seven Miles Beach is something to see and experience. It is one of the best beaches I had seen on all our trips. I doubt we will ever come back to the Beaches Negril. I believe Beaches Ochi was way better and Beaches Turks & Caicos is way superior. Also, I can imagine the chaos this place will be at full occupancy. Read less

If you do not like children, this is not the place for you. they do not bother me and their other resorts that are for adults only are geared towards couples so makes it harder to go with family that are adults. The staff is great and property is clean. They cannot always handle medical emergencies or crisis well, in my opinion, but if no one gets hurt, all is good. They have no Guinness, Malibu, coconut water or ginger beer on site. I hope they change this. Lots of food options and I was pleasantly surprised at more vegetarian options this time around. The water activities area is superb and the staff shines there too. The snorkeling was the best both during the day and for night. They help educate you as well and that part is amazing. It was very wet this time around although I know we are still in hurricane season, so somewhat expected. exceptional staff embers: Montoya in concierge, Neil, Raj and Creighton in water sports, Maxine in the spa, and snuba staff. It’s the small things here that make it special. Kevin and Everett from the groundskeeping crew took time away from their work to talk with my daughter and cut down a coconut for her. She loved how nice they were just as much as the Sesame characters.
