Butterfly Beach Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

Star rating

The hotel

One of the hallmarks of any holiday in Barbados is a night at Oistins’ famous Fish Fry – and you are just a stroll from all the action (and a short drive from lively St Lawrence Gap for other nights out). Enjoy direct access to two fabulous white powder beaches laid out either side by of this seafront hotel. The iridescent blue waters of the Caribbean may be tempting, but you can also take a dip in the freshwater swimming pools – or head up to the raised circular patio for a soak in its trio of waterfront whirlpools or relax on the ample sunning areas with loungers and umbrellas. The sea views steal the show at The Reef Bar & Grill too, with its new seaside deck providing the perfect backdrop for Caribbean dishes, and for its weekly rum punch parties and barbecues accompanied by steel pan sounds. You can see why the Butterfly Beach Hotel is a great value for money resort in Barbados and a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award winner.

This place certainly is a little gem and holds a special place in our hearts. The hotel itself is very clean, rooms are large and have all the things you need for a relaxing stay. Nestled in between two lovely beaches and also right near a bus stop makes it an ideal place from which to explore. The staff are amazing!! Special thanks goes to Harriet who responded to all our questions before we arrived in a polite and quick manner. The Reef staff - we love you all but special thanks goes to Karen, Lynette, Yvette and John. Lovely to see that you were still there. Deborah in the shop also deserves a mention! See you all again next year and thank you for making our stay another memorable one ❤️ Read less

Just returned today from Barbados and 10 days at Butterfly Beach Hotel. Really wanted to love this hotel after reading so many good reviews. Sorry, but for our party of three it didn’t live up to those reviews….as a hotel it was a bit meh. The comment last regarding miserable staff, bordering on rude are true apart from a select few. Two older ladies & one waiter in the restaurant who were fine most of the time…the Barman wasn’t a happy chappie. The lady on reception was nice, sorry I didn’t get their names. The jewel in Butterfly’s crown was a lady called Cato. She had the happiest smiling face & made you feel she was happy to see you. We only used the hotel as a base as apart from those select few, we didn’t feel wanted there. The rooms are large, but not really homely.. our fridge leaked water from day one, was rusty & no door on freezer bit so everything froze & then defrosted in there. A few other issues & the room never felt clean. I left a dirty towel scrunched up by the sink In bathroom one day to be changed by the cleaner. It was still in the same position after our room had been “cleaned” I use that word loosely. Please don’t tell me I should have complained to reception. You don’t go on holiday to spend your days complaining….it should be right in the first place. We didn’t expect a Palace for the price But clean & welcoming would have gone a long way. I will say the food in the Reef bar was good & reasonably priced. We ate there our first evening & last day. I would say that we probably did pick the wrong area….not a lot around and the places you can walk to - Oistins, Massy’s supermarket & a few bars & restaurants….some great breakfast ones….Carolina’s…Hibiscus…you have to walk on treacherous pavements on busy main roads, no scenic route, but that’s my bag. Should have researched better. We did have a good holiday, but if we go back to Barbados would pick a different hotel & area, maybe around Dover Beach or Hastings. Beaches in those areas are stunning. Read less
