We had a pleasant stay, finding it much more welcoming than the large tourist factory that was the conference hotel. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were comfortable enough, and the meals were varied. It was an excellent place to relax, although we didn't have much time to do so ourselves… A round-trip taxi to the airport was included in the room price. Read less

The resort is spread out and covers a lot of acres. The restaurants were good but don’t go looking for 5 star foods and there were only 3 choices and were only open at specific times! There was a wide variety of room options and never a long walk from a beach since there were 4 on the property including the islands only clothing optional beach which was hidden away on its own. I would recommend this resort as long as you’re not looking for 5 star amenities! Read less

Our first time to Antigua, we spent a week at Hawksbill, 3 couples and a single lady. Given the cost of the trip per person, my expectations were limited especially given the fact we have also been numerous times to Jamaica and Mexico but especially the Dominican Republic where prices have risen significantly in the last few years. Nice modern Airport, easy to get in an out. The Resort was about 30 minutes from the airport and we had commissioned a Private ride for our group so no additional stops were required. It is an older resort, we were told by one of the staff it is 60+ years old and has changed hands in recent years. Evident of capital being spent is the new infinity pool over-looking the ocean as well as recent renovations completed to the two story units. Our group collectively rate the beach and general ambience around the ocean a 10. Water clear blue, very calm and I personally spent more time in the ocean than any other similar trip in the past, to the destinations noted above. Restaurants, although there being only 3 the food was always quite good although it was evident there were times when they weren't staffed up appropriately given the volume of guests, unfortunately. We didn't really mind getting up to request a second carafe of coffee but it was obvious some parties were not pleased. Generally, staff were quite friendly and we especially liked bartenders Dalston and David. Unfortunately, getting a good cocktail was haphazard at best with numerous examples of certain liquor not being in stock (and promises of arrival the following day not happening) while many of the other brands that were readily available were pretty poor. The rooms we stayed in need a lot of work. Poorly laid out, showers did not have much hot water until we complained on Day 2 (was addressed pretty quickly). In spite of the fact we are usually of the opinion that Rooms are mostly secondary given you don't want to be spending a lot of time in them for such vacations, these definitely need attention. We stayed in a Unit that overlooked the gardens. Would I go back? Probably not to this Resort unless significant attention is brought to the shortcomings indicated. Definitely would return to Antigua. Too bad, as the layout of a Resort spread out as it is was, was cool. I never quite understood other reviews complaining about the walking....you're on vacation, a little exercise never hurt anyone and what is the rush anyway? I enjoyed the walking, particularly since the fitness room was apparently under renovation with no timetable for completion. Read less

Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing. It felt outdated, and we experienced ongoing bathroom drainage issues and problems with the toilet flushing properly each night. Each time we reported the issue, the only solution provided was plunging the bathtub and shower, but the problem continued throughout our stay. Read less
