To start with this property looks incredible in photos. The turquoise lagoon, the manicured gardens, the white sandy beach — it genuinely is beautiful. But,reality starts to poke through the postcard, in a painfully hard way, right from the time you arrive at the overcrowded resort. And there are enough operational shortcomings here that I think anyone considering booking deserves to hear about them clearly and honestly. With more than 200 rooms spread across three crescent-shaped buildings, the resort is large — and that scale creates as many problems as it solves. When the resort is running at or near capacity, the cracks show everywhere: the check-in desk becomes a slow-moving, disorganised queue that can eat an hour of your holiday, buggies to ferry you to your room are in woefully short supply(or almost non-existent at times!), the restaurants get stretched thin, and the staff — warm as many of them are individually — simply can't keep up. At the prices Tamassa charges, you expect a seamless, well-oiled machine. What you sometimes get instead is a 4-star property operating with 3-star infrastructure under pressure. The beauty of the resort is real and undeniable. But so are its frustrations. LOCATION:Bel Ombre is gorgeous — but it is genuinely remote, and this matters more than the marketing suggests. You are on the south-west coast, roughly 45 minutes to an hour from the airport, and effectively in the middle of nowhere beyond the resort perimeter. There are no restaurants, no shops, no street food, no local colour within easy reach. The handful of places nearby — The Plantation Club, Gin'ja, Infinity Blue — provide limited variety. If you're someone who likes the freedom of stepping outside for a local meal or a casual evening stroll into town, Tamassa will feel like a gilded cage. DINE + DRINK: Food is genuinely one of the most divisive aspects of Tamassa, and the frustrations are legitimate. The Show buffet restaurant — your main dining option — is underwhelming for a resort at this price point. The beachfront Playa is not a bad option, but still they could have done way better with the stunning setting! The Chef's Truck burgers are a genuine highlight and the ice cream parlour is charming. ROOM: We stayed in Room 1094, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Barely Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: View of the crowded pool and the ocean at a distant from the tiny sitout attached to the room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Ok quality toiletries FACILITIES: Four pools, a private beach, a wellness spa, a gym, water sports, a kids' club, a nightclub, tennis courts, and a game village — the facilities list is impressive, and the highlight of a stay here SERVICE:This is where Tamassa's story gets complicated. Individually, many of the staff here are genuinely wonderful — warm, attentive, multilingual, and capable of making you feel genuinely at home. There are team members across the beach, restaurants, and guest relations who go meaningfully above and beyond, and that human warmth is the resort's single greatest asset. But the check-in experience can be a genuine ordeal. Arriving after a long international flight to find a sluggish queue, disorganised front desk staff who can't locate bookings efficiently, and a seemingly arbitrary room assignment process that leaves some guests waiting hours while others get seen to first — this is not acceptable at a premium all-inclusive price point. It sets entirely the wrong tone for a holiday HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Big Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages Read less

We just got back from an unforgettable stay at Tamassa Resort and can’t recommend it enough. The whole vibe is relaxed, tropical, and full of good energy. Food & Drinks The buffet was outstanding – fresh, varied, and flavorful every single day. There was always something for everyone: local Mauritian dishes, international options, live cooking stations, and desserts that were honestly hard to resist. Breakfast was generous, and dinner themes kept things exciting. The bar service was top-notch too. Cocktails were mixed perfectly, staff were quick even during busy pool hours, and they remembered our preferences by day two. Loved the signature rum cocktails and the mocktails by the beach bar. Special Thanks A huge shoutout to the amazing team who made our holiday feel like home: - *Ganessen* – Thank you for the warm welcome and always checking in on us. - *Pravesh* – Your energy at the bar and cocktail recommendations were perfect. Best mojitos on the island! - *Jenna “the red lady”* – You were a ray of sunshine every time we saw you. So friendly and helpful. - *Siven* – Thanks for the great service and for always greeting us with a smile. Your attention to detail is incredible. - *Jaya* – Your kindness at the buffet made every meal special. You went out of your way to make sure we had everything we needed. Tamassa has the right mix of great food, great drinks, and even better people. We’ll definitely be back. Read less
