We stayed at Atlantis at the Reef for four nights, and it was the worst hotel experience we've ever had. The single biggest problem was the staff. Across the board the service was rude, slow, and unhelpful, and it ruined what should have been a special trip. It started at the front desk. Check-in set the tone — dismissive attitudes, no willingness to help, and requests that simply went ignored. The restaurants and bars were no better. Staff were slow to respond, indifferent when they finally did, and made us feel like a nuisance for being there. The food made it worse. For a resort that charges premium, top-dollar prices, the food was shockingly bland — the worst we've had anywhere. We genuinely don't mind paying when the service and food are worth it, but here they were nowhere close. You pay an arm and a leg and get neither quality nor care in return. The moment that summed up the whole stay was my daughter's birthday. I had a cake arranged and delivered for her — and it arrived with no candles. When I asked the staff if they had any, the answer was a flat, one-word "no," nothing else. The man who delivered the cake told us he had a few candles and would bring them by. He never came back. On a child's birthday, that lack of basic effort and kindness said everything about how this place treats its guests. We will not be returning, and I can't recommend Atlantis at the Reef to anyone. Overpriced, poor food, and the worst service we've ever experienced Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Info for Comparing Reef/Cove to Baha Mar's Rosewood

FYI to families comparing Atlantis to Baha Mar: we stayed at the Reef a few years ago (so while "May 2026" is the date for the review, it was not the actual date of our stay) and chose the Reef due to the exclusive access to the Cascades Pool and Paradise Beach for Reef and Cove guests, plus the on-site laundry room. However, having joined Atlantis FB groups prior to our stay and remaining in them since, I think it's important to flag that the rules regarding Paradise Beach usage are unclear, unevenly enforced, and could result in an experience not in line with what Reef and Cove guests are paying up for...There seems to be a broad misinterpretation on social media of what a public beach means in the Bahamas. Beaches are public up to the high-water mark, but adjacent land and access can be privately owned and controlled. However, many folks think that "public" means they are entitled to use the entire beach and access it however they want. And people staying in other towers at Atlantis, day guests, etc., report doing just that regarding Paradise Beach. Sometimes security enforces Paradise Beach as an exclusive amenity beyond the high-water mark, and limits vertical access from other areas of the resort, but other times it does not. When they do enforce it, non Cove/Reef guests tend to complain...So all this to say, if you are researching vacation options, and deciding where to spend your hard-earned dollars, and are seeking a resort that has a quieter beach area where the chair Hunger Games are not an issue, I have to give a major advantage to Rosewood at Baha Mar over the Reef and Cove at Atlantis for this reason. The Rosewood does have a security checkpoint that requires showing a key for access. I wish Atlantis would implement a scan check system for broad access to the Cove and Reef areas of the property to cut down on this. Sometimes guests want a more exclusive, quieter, less stressful, more turnkey experience- and there's nothing wrong with that (the couple honeymooning at the Cove today could be Royal guests with kids in a few years)- and it seems to be hit-or-miss in that regard for areas marketed as exclusive. Especially with the current Cove renovation, I would kindly suggest that Atlantis give some thought to making sure that guests who are paying a premium are actually getting a premium experience. Otherwise, they should stop marketing these amenities as being exclusive. Read less

We have been to Atlantis three times. It is expensive, but having so much to do on-site, including being able to snorkel from the beach, has us coming back. The service at the restaurants was not as good as on the previous two visits. I wish they would add more dining to the Cove/Reef area.

The Reef was wonderful and exactly what we wanted, a more quiet corner to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and beach. It was away from the fray but close enough to enjoy a beautiful walk into it when we wished. The grounds were impeccable and lush and at night wandering the low-lit paths was a pleasure. Reef rooms large, beds very comfortable, kitchenettes well equipped, and bathrooms large and well lit with good showers and large soaking tubs. There was a small but expensive, thoughtfully stocked convenience store in the lobby. The only sadness was lack of access to the exclusive Cove pool. But we had access to all of the other wonderful pools so we didn't feel too deprived! We loved the little tucked away waterfall pool. And the snorkeling right off the beach was very good with lots of varied fish, rays, and a resident turtle! It was a wonderful stay, really, despite the so-so food. Don't bother with the expensive meals. The smaller restaurants were fine. Read less
