This place has gone downhill in the last few years. They need to decide if they offer pool service or not, if they have a valet or not. Both have degraded significantly. Generally the pool staff is young and untrained and largely absent. Just try to get a drink when you want one. And once you do, try to find the staff to sign your check. Expect to wait 30 minutes for both. Also, if you like being under an umbrella, good luck because if the wind blows (which it does rather constantly) they put all the umbrellas down and they blame the wind - instead of fixing their umbrellas. Regarding the valet, if you call for your car, it'll often be there as expected 10 minutes later, but there may not be anyone at the valet station for another 5 - 10 minutes to give you your keys, and then expect that you might be ignored standing next to your car. You can often tell the quality of a hotel by watching people at the front door. The people at the valet waiting for their cars or waiting for help with their bags when they arrive do not look happy. Really nice workout center. And something that I really appreciated personally, towards the end of our stay, Hawaii unfortunately had that terrible storm, 20 inches of rain over the weekend, all the flights got canceled. It was pretty wild weather. All the staff showed up every day, a smile on their face, asking what they could do for you .We had to extend our room for a couple of days due to canceled flights, the answer was always the same, “no problem we will take of you“, they gave us our same room, with a super, super low rate, they seem like they really look out for their guests. They have a great staff, they have a great general manager, thanks for a great stay, I highly recommend this hotel/resort Tim Carrabine Hudson, Ohio. We stayed at the Andaz Maui for five nights and we found the hotel absolutely beautiful. The common areas of the hotel, including the lobby as well as the restaurants were stunning with beautiful vistas of the ocean and the three tiered pool which was really lovely. The rooms were very minimalistic and small and to me a bit disappointing, however, the bathroom was done beautifully and the rain showerhead in the large shower was excellent. Nothing makes me more crazy than not being able to wet my hair in a reasonable period of time under a shower, lol. We ate at two of the restaurants, Ka’ana kitchen and Morimoto both which were very enjoyable but Morimoto was excellent. There is a beautiful spa here, but we did not utilize it. There was also an outdoor poolside lounge which we were not able to enjoy due to the Kona low storm that impacted Maui with torrential rain. Pool chairs can be hard to find if you don’t get there early, but on the nicer days we had we were able to enjoy the pool a bit later in the day. Overall the Andaz is a beautiful hotel, I just wish the room vibe matched the rest of the hotel. Service was great, views were spectacular and I would definitely recommend this for a couples vacation. Read less
