The hotel

This seaside family-fun hotel has a prime beachfront location, you can take to the sand for a sunbathe, or the sea for some kayaking at ease. A little wander along the beachfront trail will take you to St John's Pass one way, or St Pete's Beach the other (you can also get the free island hopper if it's a bit too hot for walking) so you've got restaurants, bars and shopping in either direction. Back at the hotel the sundeck is a great place to catch the rays and enjoy some family games together. And Wave Zone will keep the kids happy, with more games and a pool table, whilst you grab a drink or a snack at the cafe. When the sun is setting, head to Sloppy Joes for happy hour out on the deck, and no doubt you'll be tempted to stay for dinner with the aroma of fresh seafood around.

The reservation department has been very helpful in securing the most perfect room for us. I highly recommend going directly to their website to reserve. It appears that they care about their guests!

My stay here was extremely disappointing and inappropriate for a family environment. When we first checked into our room, we opened the door to find another couple already in the bed in what appeared to be an intimate situation. I immediately went to the front desk but was told a manager would not be available until the next morning. I was also told someone would contact me, which never happened. I had to go downstairs the next day myself to speak with management. Later we were moved to a penthouse suite, but that situation also turned stressful when security came banging on our door around 11 PM accusing us of flooding the Jacuzzi tub into the rooms below. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. Management then promised to comp us another night, but again no one contacted me. When I followed up, the general manager, Clyde, told me we had already been “comped enough” and refused to help further. Clyde was extremely rude and unprofessional during our conversation. At one point he even told my wife not to “call him names” when she simply addressed him as “honey.” He also made a comment saying he didn’t want people like us—disabled veterans—staying at his hotel, which was extremely offensive and unacceptable. They also insisted they “knew for a fact” the couple in the room wasn’t being intimate, which honestly makes me wonder how they would know that unless there were cameras in the room. That comment alone was very concerning. Heather, who told us she was the most senior person available and promised to help resolve the situation, ended up being anything but helpful. On top of everything, the rooms are very outdated and I even saw a cockroach. As a family that includes disabled veterans, we felt completely disrespected and poorly treated. Overall, this was a very upsetting experience and not somewhere I would recommend staying. We ended up going to another hotel and actually enjoyed a relaxing experience where the rooms weren’t stuck in the 80’s. The only positive part of our experience was the night security guard and Logan, who maintains the rental equipment. They were respectful and professional. Honestly, they were the only people who treated us well and should be the ones running the place. Read less

In the past several years we have stayed inland a few miles and had to drive to the beach, restaurants, shopping and find parking. We specifically chose the Bilmar Beach Resort because they are right on the beach and within walking distance to everything we wanted including a grocery store. There is also a restaurant attached, which is very good. This resort received significant damage due to the hurricanes in 2024, but they have done a tremendous job getting things fixed up. There is still work being done, but it did not impact our stay at all. Our room was clean and came with a kitchenette and full refrigerator, which was very helpful. The housekeeping staff did a great job of keeping our room in tip-top shape. Our room had a beautiful sunset view from the balcony. We walked the beach and walking path daily, right outside. The manager and staff were wonderful. The only thing I would do different would be to not spend the money on a rental car and utilize local transportation options. You can't go wrong planning your next beach vacation here! Read less
