Image of the Tripadvisor rating Pickleball paddle rental was $48

Our first outing at the resort was to go play pickle ball. I asked about borrowing paddles at the front desk. They said they open at 9. We head out a little after 9 to be told that paddles cost $12 to rent. So $48 to play a friendly family game of pickle ball. We could have bought cheap racquets (which these were) for the same price. Which we would have done if I had known. I checked the website and it says they can rented for a nominal fee. I know things at a resort are expensive, but this is gouging at a ridiculous level that will color my whole experience regardless of how the rest of the visit goes. Shame on you. Read less

Booked a two bed room villa for our family of four and have been very disappointed. The pools over crowded, gym equipment not working and everything is run down including our villa. The icing on the cake for me is they charge disney world prices for everything here. It is a shame Hawks Cay has turned into this. Will not be back

It started with a poor check in. The young man checking us in said “I’m new” and couldn’t answer any questions. We were told absolutely nothing at check in. We rented a 3 bedroom 3 bath villa with private pool. Couldn’t even activate our bands to charge to the room. Which we found out there’s no such thing you just tell them your room number . Villa was cute and updated . It was very dirty . It was tidied up but not cleaned. Stayed 4 nights with no housekeeping service at all. Ok but should have been clean to start with . Fully equipped kitchen … No. But I have to say every time I texted housekeeping they were prompt and efficient . I texted every morning to pick up garbage and dirty towels . I texted every morning we need clean towels, more garbage bags , another roll of toilet tissue , another roll of paper towels, kitchen towel, broom and dust pan, oven mitt, cookie sheet and frying pan to cook our fresh catch. Was a little annoying because there was eight of us and we needed more than one garbage a day for the kitchen . Our private pool was very nice and bigger than I thought it would be. Luckily our neighbors were quiet but I could definitely see potential irritation with the wrong neighbors . Villas close together and can see and hear everything neighbors are doing . Food and drink prices were higher than Disney World. Overall resort is pretty and well kept. The adult only area was very quiet and nice. We found out you could rent a golf cart for $175 a day but they were out . Don’t think I would stay here again . Read less

Hawks Cay Resort is phenomenal and it's because of the staff! First, the resort is so clean and easy to maneuver around by car or walking short distances. It's THE place to be in Marathon for anything you could want to see or do. We stayed in Sunset Village and the morning after arrival, Kim stopped his golf cart to offer us a ride to where we were going to meet our friends; however, we needed the walk. His directions were spot on and we shared easy conversations about states we had in common. I would like to thank Jason, Kim and all the staff for their kindness and friendly conversations. Customer Service here deserves 10 stars and I will definitely be back again because of them Read less

We started our trip ready to bail from this resort but one of the managers, Shanell, saved the day. We booked a Villa and it was awful--tiny, cramped, dirty carpet, hadn't been updated, cheap, and not even a towel rack to be found. I talked to the front desk who told me it they were overbooked and there was nothing they could do. Then Shanell the manager was called in and she made it happen. She moved us to two ajoining rooms that were so much more in line with the price we paid. They were lovely. We found this level of attention and care from the staff consistent and deserving of recognition. From the young woman working the grab and go to found OJ for us for our kids ot take a medication, the delightful poolside staff, to even just the door openers the staff here is worthy of a luxury resort rating. The pool is nice, the food is very good but pricey. They could step up the cleanng a bit. I don't think the bathroom doors have been wiped down in months. Please take a Magic Eraser to them for the love! Overall, a solid resort with exceptional staff. Read less
