The hotel

Infused with the charm of its sugar plantation past, this refined hotel retains its colonial style. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel occupies a delightful setting in the Bel Ombre nature reserve, in a tropical garden through which the Citronniers River flows. Suites are spacious, decorated in 19th-century style but with an impressive range of amenities and a resident host at your service. The Seven Colours Spa is a serene haven, with treatments to harmonise body, mind and energy. There are two lovely pools including 1 adult-only heated pool (coming soon in November 2024), with access to an additional pool at C Beach Club, water sports in abundance and two nearby championship golf courses. Guests have access to 13 restaurants and eight bars across the Domaine de Bel Ombre — there's a wonderful selection of dining at Heritage Le Telfair, including Annabella’s on the banks of the river with an interactive show-kitchen, and Gin’Ja serving Pan Asian cuisine on the beach. This is a truly remarkable hotel in a lovely location. The atmosphere is geared around old fashioned values. Our room was comfortable with all requests embraced. It is clean and lives up to its reputation as a small luxury hotel. The staff generally are enthusiastic to please with special mention to Ashni and Widley who went the extra yard in ensuring our stay was memorable, they are a true asset to the Hotel. An example was a comment to Widley on one of our drives about avacado and their absence from the menu; this was immediately relayed to Chef Bergicourt who responded with our very own salad. The bar service generally was excellent and most were eager to please. Some require retraining in etiquette but this not the forum. Some small minor improvement would be to supply a dish with the olives to house the pips when having a snack with your drinks, a small initiative. We would return in the future and wish the hotel all the best. One also felt the main concierge was dismissive in our requests for information on walks in the area. We fortunately met Widley one morning who suggested the Black River Nature trail; an enjoyable circa 10Km walk in the mountains. Be careful of the red route it is both slippery and steep in locations and should be undertaken with care. We thank the general staff for all their good service and recommend it to future travellers. We returned to Telfair especially to experience their adults only areas and were not disappointed. Everything about the resort, food, golf, location, facilities and above all the staff attitude is excellent. Ashni looked after us once again with high quality care & attention. Highly recommended

We had a great time at Telfair and enjoyed trying all the different restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Spicy, Nitesh and all the Cavendish bar staff. Highly recommend the Le Château de Bel Ombre for dinner.
