Here’s my review of the JW Marriott Maldives.   I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting that much before going. We travel a lot and we’ve done quite a few Maldives resorts (we’re Ambassador level), but this place really surprised me. It was genuinely amazing.   Even the arrival was a highlight. Coming in by seaplane and seeing the resort from above is unreal — the design looks incredible from the air.   The beaches were absolutely perfect, and the service level is up there. There are staff everywhere and it feels like whatever you need, someone’s already on it. We had butler service and it made everything easy.   We did a mix of beach and overwater villas. Normally I’m a overwater villa person, but this time I actually preferred the beach villa more. Ours had a great little private bit of beach, a massive private pool, and the villa design was really nice. It also felt very private most of the time. The overwater villa was cool too, obviously, but I just loved the beach setup on this trip.   If I’m being picky, the water was a bit choppy at times and there wasn’t loads of sea life when we went. That seems to be happening more with some resorts over the years — not sure if it’s just the time of year or bigger changes — but yeah, snorkeling wasn’t the main highlight here, but there are some spots that kept us busy.   Food though… another level. Every single restaurant was excellent — great food and great drinks. There’s a good mix (Japanese, Thai, international buffet etc.) and breakfast in particular is ridiculous. It’s basically brunch — loads of stations, loads of hot options, really high quality.   Now the big one for families: the kids club. We’ve got two kids (5 and 9) and the kids club was honestly incredible — like, one of the best we’ve ever seen. Massive shout out to the kids club team: Eunice, Chloe, Gordana, and Arjaans both of them. As soon as we arrived the kids went in… and we basically didn’t see them again (in a good way). They were there every day from morning to evening, got fed there, played there, made friends… they’re still in touch with their friends now by letters and all sorts. Even the design of the kids club is wild — just look it up online.   It was also nice that you can cycle around the island — having bikes available is a really nice touch. The water sports / dive centre was great too, had everything we needed for snorkeling and the usual stuff. We didn’t really do many excursions this time.   We went in December, but we didn’t stay for New Year’s Eve. From what we saw afterwards online though, the NYE celebrations looked insane.   Overall: no doubt we’ll be back. Big shout out to our butler (Naish) and the manager as well — and honestly all the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make it feel absolutely spot on. The manager Mohit runs a tight ship here it's seamless thank you!   So yeah — definitely returning. Read less

We had a wonderful family stay. The island is stunning, the staff were lovely, and everything felt easy and relaxing. Special thanks to our butler, Kseniia, for taking such good care of us. We hope to come back again.

Our stay at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa was truly exceptional and, without a doubt, the best service experience we have had among the four resorts we have visited in the Maldives. The level of service is simply outstanding. The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely present. No request ever feels like a problem — whether it’s a special dietary need, a specific seating preference, or something out of the ordinary, everything is handled immediately and with a smile. You never sense hesitation — only a sincere desire to make your stay perfect. Huge credit to the entire team for creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant teams deserve special recognition. The attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care they show every day is remarkable. They remember your preferences, anticipate your needs, and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Honestly, we cannot imagine a better service team than the one here. Housekeeping is also excellent. The villa was kept spotless at all times, perfectly organized and refreshed multiple times a day. The small touches — like the beautiful towel animals — really add personality and show the care behind the service. Big respect to Mohammed & the housekeeping team for their great work. The holiday did start with a small administrative mistake from the resort’s side, but it was handled quickly and professionally by the management team. The situation was corrected efficiently, which we appreciated and which reflects a strong and responsive administration. The food deserves its own section — it is outstanding. The Indian cuisine is exceptional. The chefs are highly skilled, and their Butter Chicken is quite honestly the best we have ever tasted. The Thai restaurant is another highlight — the best Thai food we have ever had anywhere. The chefs there are incredibly talented, and the quality and flavors are authentic and impressive. It is an absolute must-try. We ended up having lunch there almost every day because it was simply that good. Breakfast is also excellent — a wide selection and one of the better breakfast buffets we have experienced in the Maldives. The villas are beautiful and very charming — spacious, with high ceilings and a wonderful sense of openness. The bathroom is especially stunning and one of the nicest villa bathrooms we have seen. The fitness center is slightly on the smaller side, but it has everything you need for a proper workout. A special mention to Shijo, the fitness instructor — an incredibly kind and dedicated person who genuinely enjoys helping guests, whether it’s with training advice, stretching, or simply keeping the space organized and welcoming. There are plenty of water sports and activities available — jet skis and many other fun options — offering a good variety for those who want to stay active. Snorkeling was decent. We saw rays, reef sharks, and plenty of fish, but the reef itself is unfortunately not in great condition. If snorkeling is your main priority, you may want to consider this. That said, we still snorkeled every day and enjoyed it — it’s good, just not exceptional. At times there can be noticeable current in the water, so it’s something to be aware of when swimming or snorkeling. One small area for improvement would be lighting around the resort in the evening. There could be more lights on the walkways, under the villas, and especially around the restaurants. It would enhance both safety and the experience of looking into the ocean at night. Compared to other Maldivian resorts we’ve visited, the surrounding waters are quite dark after sunset. Another tip: February can be quite busy due to Lunar New Year, with a large number of Chinese guests. Something to keep in mind when planning your travel period. Overall, this resort stands out because of its people. The service culture, attention, warmth, and professionalism make all the difference. The team here truly goes above and beyond to ensure guests have a memorable and relaxing experience. Thank you to the entire JW Marriott Maldives team for an amazing stay — we felt genuinely taken care of. Nikolai Werner Read less

Our overwater villa was probably the nicest room we have ever stayed in. The pool was such a lovely temperature. Steps down into the sea were used all day everyday by us! The bikes and the pick-up from the villa in the golf buggy was a lovely touch. We used the gym a lot and it's really well equipped for a small, island gym. The views are just sensational, it's so blue - we could not stop taking photographs. The spa is really luxurious and I had a wonderful foot massage by the lovely Joyce. Food was good. Breakfast was lovely. I think it would be good if the Thai, Indian and Italian were all open every night. Lovely Indian food in the main restaurant and the Wagyu steak in the steak restaurant was really next-level. This is a long-ish sea plane flight from Male but it was well worth it. The room was so clean. Bathrooms were fabulous. Already planning to return. Read less
