The hotel

In a secluded bay, overlooking a beach regarded as the most beautiful on Phuket, this is certainly an idyllic holiday choice. Soft golden sand to glide along, sunsets to admire, and, of course, beautiful accommodation, ranging from Junior Suites to those set back amongst trees and tropical flowers. Pampering pursuits include a full-service spa and a beauty salon, ensuring you look and feel your best. As well as lots of sports activities you can get involved in more cultural endeavours, take a Thai cooking class and learn how to carve those fancy fruit decorations or enjoy a workout whilst learning the art of Thai boxing. Finally, a word about those restaurants, there are several to choose from, serving Thai and Western delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also La Scala for Italian cuisine and light music, plus several beach bars for an enticing tropical cocktail!

Such a beautiful place to relax and unwind. Our room was generous in size, the resort is stunning with manicured gardens, very happy and pleasant staff. We chose this resort for its peaceful location far enough away from Patong but within reach of other areas. We chose this resort for its peaceful location far enough away from Patong but within reach of other areas. It’s a lovely little beachside village mostly hosting two resorts and a few restaurants and shops. The resort was great, plenty on offer in terms of pools and amenities. Staff were very friendly and helpful, always warm and welcoming. We originally chose the beachfront suite opting for seclusion and ocean views however on arrival we’re disappointed with the standard of the room. It was in an older part of the resort further away from the action, which was quite dated. In particular the bed was hard as a rock and the room very damp. So much moisture that all our clothes and belongings were damp after the first night. We spoke to guest reservations after the first night and requested to move, they were very obliging and fortunately had availability in the newer, recently refurbished block. These rooms were lovely, very clean, comfortable & modern. Bonus swim out made it the perfect place to relax for 5 days. Food was generally excellent in the main restaurants, buffet breakfast also quite good. A very popular destination for large families on package deals but was also nice for a couple to hide away! We stayed at the Katathani Beach Resort in late Aug. til early Sept for two weeks. I have just read the review of SamM, and he must have stayed at another resort as his review is so full of errors I felt I just had to reply. We too stayed on an all inclusive package and found the system very easy and simple to use. The card issued at check in to record your meals, massages, happy hour and afternoon tea measures 11cm X 14cm when folded - hardly a litany of paperwork! We found the staff very helpful in the restaurants when using the card, and always showed us the set choice menu, but also advised we could order off the full menu and receive an allowance of 350B for lunch and 700B for dinner if we did that. All resort pool areas ban glassware around them for safety reasons, but it is so easy to take a plastic bottle filled from your room. Plastic bottles of water were available from the Melon shop Cafe near reception and the 711 down the street, very cheaply which were simple to refill. Perhaps the "super weird system" description is a little harsh, as other guests, including ourselves found it easy to navigate. Read less
