The new rooms are lovely, functional and very clean and well planned out. Some people might not like the window into the bathroom but there is a blind you can pull down.
Food and bar service was exceptional. We didnt eat in the buffet as we were on dine around package. All the a la carte restaurants were of a very high standard.
It would be wrong for me to name names of the fantastic staff for fear of missing someone out.
Management all the way down, service shines through like no other hotel we have stayed at.
Pool area is so nice and refreshing, sunbeds cushions could do with an update as getting a bit shabby as could the pool bar. Needs to be brought up to date as its quite unappealing compared to some of the fancier hotels in Dubai.
Overall, a 5* stay for us and have booked again for next year. See you in 2026.

Disappointed with the level of this hotel. We expected the same level of standard as other Meridien 5 star hotels but unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The hotel is under renovation which we were not informed about. The whole reception area is closed and the public areas as well as the buffet restaurant. So that experience felt like we were in a 2 star old hotel. The breakfast was terrible - because it was served in an old ballroom without proper ventilation, all of our clothes and hair smelled of cooking and oil afterwards. The uniform for staff should also be updated. The mattresses on sunbeds at the beach and pool were very old and dirty - these should be regularly cleaned.
Positive points - the renovated room is very nice - clean and fresh and spacious. The staff at the check in also noticed it was my birthday so they sent a complimentary cake to the room. The beach and pool are very nice.
Unfortunately this hotel at the moment isn’t worth the money we paid - especially because we had a special occasion - it would be better to stay in another hotel.

There is very load music near the swimming pool almost all day. The problem is you cannot escape it. The music is heard everywhere even on the beach which is annoying. We had our room (really lovely one) on the first floor and we heard the music even after closing the balcony door. Once I asked the guy at the bar to turn it down a bit (and I know that I was not the only one annoyed) but he refused - politely but refused. Unfortunately it is a great minus.

Great hotel

All the staff were phenomenal - from the chefs to the bar staff to the housekeeping, all top-notch. Food was generally excellent and the Chefs went out of their way to make great vegetarian food. The room (newly renovated) was of a good size, and the hotel's facilities were good (although a little dated in places). The pool was good and the beach was really nice. Al Aqah was 5-7°C cooler than Dubai and, therefore, was really pleasant after 4pm. There is nothing to see in the surrounding areas, but for a few days of pure relaxation, this hotel was great.

What a wondeful stay!
Ms. Tonie at the front desk started us off on the right foot! All the valet team could not have been more accommodating. Mr. Chami and Mr. Niroshan were so hospitable. All three restaurant location staff was so welcoming.

The amenities, comfort and cleanliness of the room are exactly what one would expect at a resort of this calibre. There was even remodeling happening and guests were alerted guests but zero disruption to our stay. The beach is great beach. We had quite a scare witnessing a rescue but this turned out to be a simulation! We will for sure return.
