The hotel

This resort really is a palace and a spectacular one at that. Moon Palace Cancun lies on Cancun’s tranquil south shore, nestled between a long, white sand beach and 123 acres of tropical foliage. The huge variety of facilities make for the perfect family holiday, catering for all ages and abilities. From the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, water sports marina, and huge freeform pools to the Playroom kids’ club, Wired for teens and tennis and pickleball courts to keep the youngsters busy!  Rooms are elegant with double jacuzzi baths, terraces or balconies complete with hammocks and even a drinks cabinet. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to your dining options with 17 restaurants to choose from as you have full access to the restaurants at Moon Palace Nizuc too. There are incredible floor shows every evening, with the Noir Nightclub picking up the beat until the early hours.

1339 rooms on 3 floors in several buildings with 8 lifts. All rooms are located in the Sunrise section of the resort. All with private balcony/terrace, air-conditioning, smart TV with Google Chromecast, WiFi access, direct-dial telephone, coffee maker, 24-hour room service, mini-fridge with soft drinks, bottle of wine, spirits optic, water and beer (which is stocked alternate days), safe, Jacuzzi, bathrobes and slippers, turn-down service, hairdryer and straighteners. Non-smoking rooms on request. Superior Deluxe Garden Rooms with garden views, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

All Inclusive of: all meals and snacks, 24-hour room service, stocked mini-bar, in room drinks cabinet, wifi. Domestic and imported beverages including sparkling wine. Entertainment, land sports and non-motorised water sports, including the business centres.

Superior Junior Suite Golf Course View with Golf Cart Included Rooms include personal use of a golf cart for getting around the resort, separate seating area and private screened terrace with table and chairs, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Superior Deluxe Ocean View Rooms with stunning views across the Caribbean Sea sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Swim Up Suites have direct access to the private pool from the room terrace, garden/pool views and a private balcony with table and chairs. Suites have a private bath with shower, double whirlpool tub and 1 king-size bed or double beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Superior Family Deluxe Rooms consist of 2 bedrooms (one with 1 king-size bed, the other with 2 double beds), Xbox ONE and games available on request (subject to availability), family in-room amenities including kids' room service menu, kids’ size bathrobes and slippers, Fun in the Sun beach toys and L’Oreal kids bath amenities, bathroom products. Sleeping maximum 6 guests.

Superior Honeymoon Suites benefit from a guaranteed king-size bed, a liquor dispenser with Premium, upgraded brands of liquor, access to the Private Beach Lounge area with waiter service, an exclusive beach bag (one per stay), pillow and aromatherapy menus, an Espresso/American coffee maker, nightly Petit Fours, private concierge service by phone, one reservation at speciality restaurant per stay, pillow menu and turn-down service and private check-in. These rooms sleep maximum 2 adults.

Guests staying in the Mexican state Quintana Roo are required to pay a travel tax of $11 per adult (over 15 years old), subject to change. After 3 days we requested a move as on top of what's already been mentioned, we were having to complain about music being played from parties in other rooms. Hotel is labelled as luxurious family resort. Well it might be on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday to Monday it is Frat party capital. We had the 'joy' of a 'Passport to Paradise ' seminar on the second weekend, it was absolutely carnage. At one point there was at 10.30pm a group of 18-30 year olds chanting in the main lobby. We went to spend our anniversary in the same atmosphere as we spent our honeymoon, but the have abandoned The Sunrise and Nizuc hotels to the 18-30 holiday vibe. As you arrive after for us was a 15 hour journey you a taken to a desk where they try to sell you £200 pp day passes to the Grand Hotel. Unless you want the Butlins weekender vibe of get smashed and be loud don't spend the amount it costs to travel here from the UK. Don't even get me started about the dirty scum mark around the pools. They had men going around scrubbing with a cloth back into the water for it to reform within 15 minutes. Read less

⭐ 1 Star – A Wonderful Vacation Ruined by Dishonest Service and False Promises What a disappointing experience at Moon Palace! We booked our vacation through Costco Travel and were excited to enjoy a relaxing week at the resort. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful experience ended with frustration, disappointment, and a complete loss of trust in the resort. As part of our booking, we received $600 in resort credits. The resort staff specifically told us we could use $350 toward spa services and $250 toward hotel excursions. Naturally, we were excited and booked our activities based on what we had been promised. However, when it came time to check out, NONE of the credits were applied! Suddenly, we were told the credits didn’t apply to those services. How convenient that this information was only shared AFTER we had already enjoyed the services and were expected to pay the full amount. This is completely unacceptable. Guests should be able to trust the information provided by resort employees, especially when making decisions that involve hundreds of dollars. Whether this was dishonesty, poor training, or intentionally misleading guests, the result was the same: we were promised something that the resort refused to honor. What a horrible way to end a weeklong vacation! Instead of leaving with wonderful memories, we left feeling deceived and taken advantage of. Moon Palace needs to understand that beautiful facilities mean absolutely nothing when guests cannot trust the people providing the service. I would NEVER return to Moon Palace, and I would NEVER recommend this resort to anyone. If you are considering staying here, be extremely cautious about anything the staff promises, especially resort credits. Apparently, what you’re told when booking services and what you’re charged at checkout can be two very different things. Shame on Moon Palace for turning what should have been a memorable vacation into such a disappointing experience. Read less

The sunrise playroom was our daughter’s favorite place at the resort. Everyone was wonderful but Avril and Geissy took great care of our girls.
