The hotel

Niyama’s twin islands offer up the luxury of choice, from chic serenity on the isle of Chill to the adrenaline and excitement on the isle of Play — or a combination of both as your mood dictates! The resort serves up one of the best dining scenes in the Maldives with no less than seven restaurants, including four unique options: Nest is a one-of-a-kind dining concept in the Maldives featuring four cuisines of Asia, including Teppanyaki, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian; Tribal offers a uniquely authentic cultural experience of African, Central and South American tribal cuisines; Edge provides exclusive overwater dining, accessible by boat, featuring delicate Indian Ocean flavours and fresh local seafood; and, below Edge, Subsix Underwater Playground is hidden out in the ocean and six metres below the waterline. There are also two all-day dining restaurants, two bars, a coffee shop and personalised destination dining options, both on and off shore. If you have little ones, the Explorers Children’s Club pioneers excitement to new levels, with activities for different age groups and interests. An outdoor fun area has a playground, trampoline, splash park and stage, whilst Munch, the mini gourmet kitchen, offers cooking classes and food and drinks for their different tastes. Throughout the resort, family-spirited accommodation, dining and experiences abound — sophistication meets exploration, with extra special attention lavished on VIPs both large and small. Take time to soak up the raw beauty of the unspoilt beaches and blue lagoon, revel in spectacular Ocean views from your luxurious studio, suite or pavilion, explore the islands by bike, and treat yourself to a recharge at LIME Spa, featuring eight iconic treatment rooms and world-renowned products, including Gentlemen’s Tonic and Intraceuticals. You won’t want to leave!

The hotel is incredible. The staff are very attentive. The quality and variety of the dishes are impressive. The hotel shows how much it cares about its guests, not only during the stay but also before and after. The pre-check-in and post-check-out experiences were wonderful.

Well this resort is right up there ! We are extensive travellers and the Niyama experience must be on your bucket list . We had an over water villa , with water deep enough to swim in ,while admiring the marine life . Points to note , as we were a couple , best to avoid the childrens holidays as it can be busy around the main pool with children. However that said you can find a quieter spot as the islands are big enough to loose yourself, possibly on the bikes ! The hotel could benefit from a small Adult only area on one of the beaches . The dining experience is very good with plenty of variety for a longer break , we had 11 nights . We would recommend the food and drinks all in package ,although it seems expensive at first , it is definitely to way to do it and not worry about the dollars . A shout out to some staff , who were all very attentive and helpful, YouKay (UK), Boni , Sigi and all the restaurant managers particularly the manager of Tribal. Finally it is along way to get there but worth it, but if you are visiting the Maldives this is definitely one to go to !! Chris and Julie Read less

Where do I start....?! The staff here must be the first to talk about. I have travelled widely and these are the most hard working, professional, welcoming, warmest bunch I have ever met. We received a flawless service and they are the reason our holiday has been so memorable. So thank you all of you! I wish I could mention all of you but you are so many. Special thanks to Sigi, Rashe, Dewa, Putu, Hussain, Kofi, Brian and of course our point of contact for our stay - Khassu. After hours of trawling through the countless resorts in the Maldives, I settled on this one... An island not too big, not too small, website looked good - beautiful photos, the selection of restaurants for the size of the island looked good too. I didn't want to be eating in the same restaurant each night for 10 nights, I wanted to relax but not be bored. So Niyama seemed to fit the bill. Obviously a holiday to the Maldives is expensive for the average Joe so picking a holiday is always a gamble... Was I going to be disappointed....? The answer is absolutely NOT! I could run through details of the restaurants, describe the island, the villa, the bars but my descriptions and superlatives would take far too long and would be unnecessary because in a nutshell.... This idyllic island is perfection. My advice: You don't need a shortlist of places to stay in the Maldives - just go to Niyama. Read less
