The hotel

At times you’ll get the impression you’re in the heart of Italy – at others there’s no denying you’re in the Caribbean. Exclusively for adults, Ocean Point Beach Resort & Spa is a kick-off-your-flip flops fusion of the idyllic Med and the exotic Tropics. From its gardens, where bougainvillea grows among palm trees, to its fabulous Sottovento Beach Club, where chefs will use fresh island produce as you dine just steps from the sea. This may be a far cry from home, with its huge beachfront pool and two seductively sandy coves, but the family owners have created a truly homely space, complete with a resident cat and dog, informal yet comfy guest rooms, and day trips for snorkelling and turtle spotting.

Where is it

Located in Hodge's Bay, a 10-minute drive from the Capital of St John's and a 5-minute drive from the local golf course in Cedar Valley. Transfer time from airport: 10 minutes.

Hotel information

Rooms are decorated in a Mediterranean style, and all have a 32" flat-screen TV, fridge, air-conditioning, hairdryer, safe and a private verandah or balcony. Garden View Rooms are located on the ground floor with views of the tropical gardens, 1 king-size or 2 single beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Inclusive of: à la carte meals, snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. All entertainment and activities unless otherwise stated.

Ocean View Rooms are located on the first/second floors and enjoy a partial view of the sea, 1 king-size or 2 single beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Ocean Front Rooms are located on the second/third floor of the hotel and offer full views of the sea, 1 king-size or 2 single beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

New Cabana rooms (available as pool view, ocean view or ocean front) are newly renovated and enlarged rooms, featuring a 12 square meter wooden cabana with comfortable seating plus table and hammock. For guests booking these rooms, the first minibar stock will be complimentary, as will butler service. All with 1 king-size bed or 2 twin beds, sleeping maximum 2 people.

Sottovento Beach Club (beachfront restaurant and bar serving Asian and international cuisine, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner). All meals are à la carte and will be waiter served. Cold options at breakfast will be buffet style with hot dishes à la carte.

Without question, main highlight was the staff - everyone single person we interacted with was polite, fun, informative, happy and really represented Antigua to its very best... :) Really very hard to find fault with this resort and hard to believe it is only 3 star - we will definately be returning. Big shout out to Andre & Quame who made every visit to the bar a fun experience. To Kerry-Ann, Jessica, Selwyn, Elroy, Markie, Spice and all the other restaurant staff (sorry I cant recall all your names) - you were amazing and made every single fantastic meal an absolute pleasure (and more importantly those working in the kitchen who we never really got chance to speak with...) Carribean night every Wednesday being a real highlight - who knew Kerry-Ann could whine it down so low !!! Thanks also to Rossanna who made our trip extra special and is one of the main reasons we will return.. A few staff changes also in the Restaurant and a little bit more organised. ( Love Selwyn and Caroline so glad they were still there. ) And more salad specials at Lunch time. Perfect ! We had excellent weather while there, just a few early morning showers. The entertainment was the same Bands as i remember, but one more night of it would be nice. We will be back again soon. Well I think it’s because of the fact that it is just such a lovely location where you can enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets with glorious sunshine in between. There are two beaches (always plenty of room), and a huge swimming pool, with the main restaurant a step away from the turquoise ocean. All meals are first class and served à la carte by friendly waiting staff - there’s no nicer place to enjoy a relaxed breakfast or a sundowner drink. In fact, all the hotel staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. This is a traditional Antiguan building, nothing swish but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. And if you are looking for lots of entertainment you will be disappointed because live music is only offered, usually, twice a week. Whether lounging by the pool or on the beach, there were always plenty of sunbeds available, which is such a rare find at resorts! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. It’s clear they take pride in offering top-notch service, and it really added to the overall experience. We also had the chance to meet some lovely, like-minded people, which made the trip even more special. The saltwater pool, bright colors, landscaping, variety of areas to relax in the sun or shade whether lounge chair or otherwise, two beaches to chose from, walking distance to an adorable open air food court (pizza, ice cream, fireside grill), relaxing private patio with hammock and chairs, rum upon arrival were all lovely touches.
