I’m at a loss for words to describe how magical our 3rd visit to Finolhu Baa Atoll was, but let me try. We’ve traveled to quite a few resorts before but Finolhu outshines all of them by light years. The natural surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. Lush jungle surrounded by palm trees and soft powdery sand. The water is crystal clear and about 50 shades of turquoise. The house reef is teeming with fish and we even saw a turtle and rays. Unfortunately we weren’t able to go on manta snorkelling trip this time as there weren’t any sightings during opening times of the reserve. If this is on your bucket list be sure to book during around May to November around full or new moon for increased chance of seeing them. You can be as relaxed or as active as you wish. Fantastic water sports area and a well equipped gym. More than enough loungers around the pristine pool and beach. If you didn’t think you were in heaven by the first look at the resort wait till you try the food!!!!! Breakfast and buffet is at Beach kitchen and then they have 3 speciality restaurants : Crab shack, (seafood ) Kanusan (Japanese), Arabian grill (Middle Eastern). Be sure to take the All inclusive premium package as all meals and beverages at the speciality restaurants are included. O and of course, Milk lab! This is where you get the most decadent sweet and savoury bites when you feel peckish between meals. I still dream of their famous custard milkshakes. Now for the best part….service. Every single staff member is beyond friendly and kind. Unfortunately it’s impossible to thank everyone in person and I tried to get as many names as possible, please forgive me that I can’t remember all. From the moment you come out of baggage collection to the transport back to the airport you just realise their service is at another level! We were met by Nayif and taken to their beautiful lounge to wait a few minutes for our sea plane transfer. The organisation is fantastic. We received the warmest welcome back by one of the managers Ishaan (I think). We immediately met our Roohoo (butler) Aflaah and taken to our stunning lagoon facing Villa. What made this visit so remarkable is that you have a Roohoo at your beck and call. The WhatApp service works perfectly and was answered by Aflaah within seconds! Every single request was granted with such kindness. We miss him terribly. We received exceptional service from all restaurant managers, waiters and housekeeping staff) I want to personally thank : Umey Upul Messi Fegey Fahudu Ali (breakfast) Shaif Alex Azleen Shiyam, Ashfaan, Shusma (swimming pool) Jimmo (snorkelling) Zai (beautiful friendliest person) Azjan (Milk lab) Haanim (villa attendant) Suresh (Indian chef- he made me a special traditional South Indian dish🤩) Our villa was always spotlessly clean and neat (and the Kotze’s aren’t the neatest people 🫣). We never saw them though, it was like magic. They always came when we were at breakfast or dinner. We made our fondest memories at Finolhu and a piece of our heart will always belong here. I’m looking forward to visiting again!! Kindest regards Maritsa and Louis sr and jr Kotze Read less

Ilf was the BEST butler EVER, but i wouldn’t call him a butler i would call him my friend! he made me and my family feel so comfortable when arriving and caused me to be in tears when leaving that’s how close we had became in just a week of spending our time there. He would be the biggest reason I would come back to Finolhu, and would hope to see his smiling and welcoming face again. My other note is Ali when working at the beach kitchen, every single morning, afternoon and night would never fail to bring happiness to my face and my families as well!! He learnt all of our names and greeted us with love and warmth, which feels so nice when adventuring a new country. By the last couple of days, we would ask where he is so that we could have conversations with him. Not only did he do this with my family, but with everyone other family around us, he made sure to acknowledge them and greet them with so much kindness! I loved my experience at Finolhu and will definitely coming back when I get my chanced to do so! Read less

From the warm welcome from Mannu at the Finohlu transport desk at Male Airport we were chauffeured around to the Seaplane terminal and ushered into the bright and beautifully designed Finolhu lounge to await our TMA seaplane transfer. This compact lounge is full of quirky yet tasteful art pieces including a ceiling of fish mobiles constructed from recycled plastic bottles by Czech artist Veronika Richterova they looked like blown glass quite stunning. I was able to take a shower and enjoyed a light lunch and relax for the next 2 hours. As we departed on the Seaplane the weather took a turn and the flight in turned into the best white-knuckle ride of my life the landing was nothing short of spectacular as the pilot used all his skill and daring to get us on the water in one piece as water washed up over the plane. As we deplaned in a torrential tropical downpour, we were greeted by a very wet GM Mr Steven Phillips and his team who dispensed warm dry towels and quickly had all the passengers into the buggies and off to our villas, but not before he invited us to his evening white party that he was hosting. The villa itself took its key from the airport lounge and was bright, colourful and extremely practical with an incredible view over the lagoon and water access via a ladder off the balcony. The welcome inhouse produced chocolate bar was sublime and the whole interior space felt calming, homely and relaxed with the decor delivering harmonious synergy with the idyllic tropical Indian Ocean environment. It was surprising, honour to attend the GM's evening party and Steven Phillips, and his senior staff made sure every guest was afforded their time. Resort manager Ishan introduced himself and we were chatting about food (my passion), he then introduced me to F&B Director Sunny who took us through the food and beverage offering available at the many high-quality outlets. The GM Steven then joined us, and we gelled immediately as he is first and foremost a true foodie and we chewed the fat over the world's best produce from beef, seafood and even Melbourne (my hometown) coffee. We had even eaten in a few of the same restaurants in Australia and Spain. Steven had one of his team request Chef Bernard join us. Chef Bernard took us on a tour of the kitchens and back of house operations introducing us to his senior team members. This was mind blowing and almost military precision with the best available produce sourced fresh from all around the world to cater for any gastronomic desire. We decided to try the evening buffet which are themed nightly and Friday night is 'Latin Night" with live cooking stations including meat and seafood cooked to order, the quality, attention to detail, overwhelming choice and the interaction with the kitchen staff on the live stations made the incredible meal ever more enjoyable. The whole dining experience was like a well-choreographed theatrical show. Our butler Asif was attentive and able to arrange even my most challenging requests with professional aplomb and more importantly made sure we got to where we needed to be with a pleasant smile and friendly demeanour. Good leaders attract quality staff and Finolhu delivers at a high level with a relaxed no fuss can do attitude that I have rarely encountered in high achieving establishments, the packages available allows the guest to tailor their individual experience prior to arrival and caters for all tastes including families. I am sad my stay came to an end as another week in this paradise would be just the tonic before returning to the hustle and bustle of big city life. Rest assured Finolhu I will be back to enjoy your unique brand of awesome hospitality again. Thats a promise I plan to keep. Read less

Finolhu truly is an island paradise. The whitest of white powder sand and turquoise clear waters. The food and drinks were spectacular. We did the premium all inclusive and had many glasses of tattinger champagne.. The villas facing sunset faced the house reef and was divine - and can see reef sharks from the balcony Despite it being the wet season - we had a week of sunshine and glorious still waters for snorkelling. There was 1 hour of rain only. As it was low season there was low occupancy and so felt there was more staff than guests half the time. For the reef hopping cruise - there were 5 staff and 3 guests and this big motor boat. Alina the butler was attentive and very responsive via WhatsApp. So lucky to have someone drive us from the villa to meals. The staff at the restaurants were also lovely. The sommelier gave fantastic wine suggestions and a joyful person to have around. Food was delicious and fresh I will be dreaming about the cerviche and fish curry for a long time Read less
