The hotel

Throwing you into the full Atlantis experience, The Royal is as legendary as the myths that inspired and infuse them. The architecture, the artwork, the adventures — each have a cheeky nod to the Lost City of Atlantis, but the well-dressed rooms and suites are a little less kitsch, coming with French or full balconies and views over the terraces, water, or harbour. Their spot on Atlantis Paradise Island puts you right by Atlantis Casino and at the heart of the world’s largest outdoor ‘marine habitat’ — with 14 lagoons and more than 50,000 aquatic residents, from sharks to barracuda. The island’s other fabled fun’s yours for the taking too, whether its experiencing rides or slides at the 141-acre Aquaventure waterscape; snorkelling the ‘ruins’ at Atlantis; or kicking back at one of its 21 restaurants and 19 bars.

We love the atmosphere at the Royal . The VIP teams go above and beyond. That is especially true of Frankoya. She has been so pivotal in getting us to return with her attention to detail. Her concern for us having the best experience during our stay. We were also checked in this time with a very helpful, Jade. All and all a great trip. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Patrell is the best!

Things went a little rough until Patrell stepped in. She made it all good, with an amazing smile. There was a mix up with the Casino Host, Patrell fixed it all and because of her, we will certainly return. This was out 10th visit and only one with an issue. Thank you Patrell!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was extremely frustrating. The resort is poorly maintained—broken sun loungers everywhere, beach bathrooms without doors, and very loud plumbing in the rooms (you can hear other guests flushing constantly). There was also ongoing construction, so noise was a daily issue. Today a tap in our bathroom fell off… Service was unacceptable. Room service took 2.5 hours despite repeated calls, and another order was simply forgotten. Restaurant reservations were impossible to get, leaving us with very limited dining options. After eating at the Poseidon buffet, two people in our group got sick. Food quality at the Reef pool bar was also poor and undercooked. Perch, the breakfast place, while they do have some lovely dishes, the service is appalling…. My kid waited on a bagel with cream cheese for 45 minutes, most of the mornings we didn’t get the drinks we ordered. On top of that, their systems are frequently down, meaning activities couldn’t be booked by phone—everything required walking in person, which was extremely inconvenient as I am a sole parent on this trip, pregnant, with two young children. Overall, this place is severely mismanaged and nowhere near the standard it claims to be. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. It is not Atlantis that existed 10 years ago and absolutely not worth the money. We have two days left, cannot wait for this holiday to be over. Read less

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Blast if you have young children but overall very hard to rationalize the price(s).

If you have young children Atlantis is incredible, albeit expensive ... I would say something to do once. But for the prices they charge, room to food/beverages to add-ons it's overall hard to justify the expense. To boot it's very inconsistent in-terms of service, food quality, or things even being open. Most things don't effectively open till 11am. Many slides/rides don't open till the afternoon (if at all)... went in April (i.e. paying elevated room prices) so no rationale of down season. P.S. If Cocodillo (restaurant on premise) happens to be open (as it is often not) avoid anything with chips. I ordered Pico de Gallio... it came with 4 chips. When we asked for more our server told us it would be $5 per extra 3 chips. Read less
