The hotel

An enchanting island paradise, once the home of a Carib Indian chief according to legend, Young Island is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Virtually a tropical garden, it consists of 13 acres, home to giant almond, mango, coffee and breadfruit trees. At the heart of it all is Young Island Resort overlooking a beautiful stretch of golden sand. Here, hammocks hang under thatched roofs and the cooling trade winds are ever constant. As is only right when residing on a Caribbean island, non-motorised water sports are offered, including kayaking, pedal boards and dinghy sailing. Just offshore is the Coconut Bar where drinks are served in fresh coconuts — you can swim there and back. Dining at Young Island is a truly romantic experience with meals taken under thatched gazebos near the beach. A sumptuous four-course meal is prepared six nights a week by award-winning chefs with fresh seafood always on the menu. Saturday’, you'll enjoy a barbecue and buffet dinner with steel band music. Each meal offers six loaves of freshly baked bread — white, coconut, banana, raisin, cinnamon and wholewheat — it’s a real treat and one they are justly famous for. A fabulous freshwater swimming pool is perfect for cooling dips and there is tennis available during the day. Spacious, cottage style accommodation is either close to the beach or on a hillside with breathtaking panoramic views.

Thank you Bianca and all your team for an amazing stay. Nothing was too much trouble so please extend our gratitude to all kitchen and serving staff and to Ronnie James and Princess for serving us too many Rum punches. Also grateful for the tip to spend an afternoon at Tiki beach bar Barbados before flight home.

The food was excellent and the staff could not do enough for you, especially Christina & Neal, Josh, James & Ronnie were great on the bar & made the best cocktails, Princess was always happy & welcoming at the Bar just off the beach. I must also mention Chantell in the Spa where I had an amazing facial & body massage. If you are looking for paradise to unwind & recharge for a while this is definitely the place to go. We will definitely be back. Debbie & Glynn Read less

My wife and I loved our 7 days on Young Island. We stayed at the top of the island in one of the bigger cottages with its own plunge pool. The view was stunning and the with the wind blowing through the slatted walls the simple and well kept interior was perfect. Fresh flowers in the rooms was a great touch. Every day we spotted new birds and our favourite was a hummingbird that would feed around the pool whilst we were in it. The chorus of tree frogs at night was great fun. All the staff were first class from the waiting staff, taxi boat guys and housekeepers, plus of course the management team. Nothing was too much and all delivered in a friendly laid back but efficient Caribbean style. The reception desk organised taxis to Kingstown and a hire car at the end of the week too. And they send you to Dive ST Vincent over the bay quite rightly for a brilliant scuba diving experience. We went all inclusive and I would advise the same. Finding food off site is not easy. St Vincent is not geared up yet to deal with tourists looking for long lazy lunches or indeed quick take away snacks. At the resort you’ll have more food than you can eat and all delicious. If you’re after big brand slick high fashion trendy cool spot - not for you. Young Island is about genuine care for their guests, a timeless Caribbean hospitality driven by the most polite service you could ever wish for all in a wildlife filled jungle island setting. We met people who had been going for years, it’s like a secret you don’t want everyone to find and can’t keep away from. Total bliss. Thank you Young Island. Read less

Amazing staff, service, views and food! Young island is a resort like no other - you’ll be blown away by the kitchen and food. The staff treats you like you are family and staying at their private island. It’s the best resort in St Vincent by far - and one of the best on planet earth. Definitely going to visit again.

I recently stayed at this resort and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience considering the fact that we are locals. From the moment of arrival, the service felt disorganized and unwelcoming. Check-in was slow, and staff did not seem attentive or concerned about guest comfort. The room itself was below expectations. It was not properly cleaned, maintenance issues were noticeable. For the price paid, I expected a much higher standard of quality and attention to detail. However we went out for dinner off the island upon returning to our room at 12.04am our bathroom door that connects to the outside shower was left open that was honestly disappointing considering the fact that I tried calling front desk however there was no one on duty. Dining was equally underwhelming. We were told that my partner couldn’t eat in the restaurant as he was wearing a vest however looking over a guest was in something similar to what my partner was told he can’t wear in the dining area. I then ask the server what’s the difference is it because he is a different color than us? Overall, this resort did not meet the standards it advertises. I would not recommend it based on my experience and hope management takes meaningful steps to improve service, cleanliness, and overall guest satisfaction. AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY DOESN’T MATTER WHERE YOU ARE FROM. Read less
