Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf

San Francisco, California

Star rating

The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

I’ve had consistently excellent experiences with the Argonaut Hotel and can’t recommend it highly enough. What truly sets this property apart is the staff — they are incredibly attentive, proactive, and genuinely invested in making every stay seamless. From booking through check-out, communication is always clear, prompt, and accommodating, which makes coordinating travel (especially for work) effortless. The booking process itself is smooth and flexible, and the team goes above and beyond to ensure preferences and details are handled with care. It’s rare to find a hotel that delivers this level of consistency and professionalism every time. Because of this, the Argonaut has become my go-to recommendation for colleagues visiting San Francisco for work. I’ve sent many people their way, and the feedback is always the same — exceptional service, great experience, and a team that truly cares. If you’re looking for a reliable, high-quality stay with standout service, this is it. Read less

We upgraded to a bay view room, but it was nothing like the pictures - the view was partial, unlike the picture on their website. Our room was directly on a super noisy street with inadequate sound protection. Bar closed at 10pm on a Friday. No hot drinks in our room. Comfy, but disappointing.

Although the hotel is nice, I am giving them two stars because we booked way in advance. However, when we arrived at the hotel one of the two rooms didn't have a working AC. We notified the front desk and they were not interested in resolving the issue immediately, nor did they accommodate us. At the end, we were told the AC was working but it was not. I would not come back to this hotel. We spent a day and night with two fans they provided instead of giving us another room. Talking about providing the best! A failure to the customer, better said.
