Hilton Boston Park Plaza

The hotel

As synonymous with Boston as the eponymous tea party and cream pie, Hilton Boston Park Plaza has been a landmark on the city’s hotel circuit since it opened 90 years ago. Reinterpreted for the 21st century traveller with a $100 million mega-makeover, it now adds contemporary décor and mod-cons to its timeless elegance. And you’re in good company, with all bar two US Presidents staying here since it opened. It’s easy to see why, with a top-drawer location near Boston Common. Of course, they wouldn’t all have experienced today’s attractions, which include a mammoth 20,000 SF Health Club, the nightly cocktail hour (well 5 hours) in the Library, and the New England inspired dining of its Off the Common restaurant, with Boston’s signature lobster rolls a menu favourite.

Realizing this is a very old building, I knew the rooms were not going to be big by current standards. The location was the big draw for us BUT all that being said, I would never stay here again in its current state. The bathroom was so tiny that my husband and I could not be in there together and shower was so small, I could not safely shave my legs. Also, no fan so mirror remained fogged so couldn’t use for make up. No other place in room to apply with good lighting either. Pillows so stiff, I slept without. Decor in hallway especially old carpet was dingy looking. Such a disappointment for the high price. We walked down to the Westin to meet up with friends it was drastically better with plenty to do around there as well I will say the staff was very friendly and helpful but for these prices, I expected better. Just posting in case others read reviews before choosing. I did not but wish I had. Read less
