We stayed at the Holiday Inn Times Square in April 2026 as a family of three (two adults and one teenager). We chose the hotel primarily for its location, which is undeniably excellent—very central and convenient for accessing Times Square and most areas of Manhattan. However, our first impression on arrival was not particularly positive. The outside of the hotel often had groups of people sitting around smoking and drinking, which didn’t create the most welcoming atmosphere. Inside, the reception area is very small, dated, and quite cramped. Unlike many hotels where the lobby feels spacious and impressive, this one felt busy and limited, with just a small check-in desk, a vending machine, a cash machine, and lifts. We stayed for four nights in a room with two double beds, though these were more like three-quarter size rather than full doubles. The room itself was extremely compact, and overall the hotel feels quite dated. The carpets, furnishings, blinds, and air conditioning unit all seemed in need of updating. Space was a real issue. With luggage, it became quite difficult to move around, and storage was minimal. The wardrobe could only hold a handful of items, and there was nowhere practical to store suitcases once unpacked. The in-room safe also didn’t feel particularly secure as it wasn’t fixed in place. Tea and coffee facilities were very basic, and in our case, they were missing on arrival—we had to request them. We also had an issue with a broken bathroom door that wouldn’t close properly, which took three days to fix. On a more positive note, the hotel restaurant, Latitude, was excellent. The food quality was very good, the service was outstanding, and the happy hour was a nice bonus. Breakfast, which was included, was quite basic—scrambled eggs, chicken or turkey sausages, and bacon, with limited pastries, coffee, and orange juice. It was functional but lacked variety (no beans, mushrooms, or tomatoes, for example). We were on the 28th floor, and while lift wait times are often mentioned as a concern, we only experienced a couple of longer waits—overall, it was manageable. In summary, the hotel is okay at best. The location is its biggest strength, but the property itself feels tired, with small, dated rooms and underwhelming facilities. It doesn’t quite meet the standard you might expect from a Holiday Inn. With some renovation and improvements, it could be much better—but as it stands, it’s more about convenience than comfort. We arrived at the hotel, the reception is really tired and cramped. We had an issue checking in but staff were quick to resolve and we had the most amazing room view on floor 34!! We never closed our blinds. We could see SUMMIT and the Empire State Building clearly. We were 2 adults and 2 teenage boys the room was small, two double beds, very little storage but we only slept there and it was adequate and clean. The people sat outside are not an issue and didn’t bother us, with very little seats available in the area I can see why they congregate there. Times Square area is very very busy and having been twice now I wouldn’t stay in this area again. There are far better neighbourhoods to stay in. Where the hotel is located it didn’t seem the best neighbourhood especially after we read reports on incidents very close by. Subway station is a short walk and so easy to use. 4 start review is mainly for the view and room cleanliness Read less

Pathetic, Shambolic, Scary Experience. The front of the hotel is crowded by drug addicts with strong smell of weed and drugs on the forecourt as well as in the lobby of the hotel - very scary experience. I thought the worst was over but not. My room had very strong smell of weed and drugs, it appeared the previous guests were having drug and weed sessions in that room. Me and my wife could not stand that, I have allergy and could not stop sneezing. The interesting and shocking bit is that the old fellow who checked us in already knew about the state of of that room because when we came down and complained he said I know it is not the best of the rooms, we tell guests not to smoke in the room but they don't listen. The person said he could not do anything as they were fully booked and had no other room. He said that he will credit 40k points which will be good to book 1 night in this hotel as compensation. It was an absolute nightmare as me and my wife had to spend a great part of the night on the nearby streets searching for a hotel. I complained to IHG Guest relations when the points were not credited to my account even after a month. Onlyafter my complaint the points were credited to my account. Guess what I was lied by the gentleman as when I looked on the IHG website the points needed to book the same room I had booked was 66,000. I felt lied and cheated. I escalated my complaint but got the answer from John in Guest Relations that the request to make good for the points difference has been declined by GM of Holiday Inn Time Square. John said he could not do anything. When I requested John to give me the name and email of the GM, IHG group, he simply refused and said I can't this is a policy. No regard for Reward Members, buraucracy rules at IHG. Extremely dissappointed. Stay away from this property - you are pre -warned. Read less
