Dating to 1866, the lobby’s historic sandstone walls don’t get in the way of modernity at Hyatt Regency Calgary, where contemporary comforts come in the form of complimentary WiFi access, mod-con packed guestrooms, a 24-hour gym with Fitness Concierge, and the full-service Stillwater Spa. Hugging the TELUS Convention Centre, this urban utopia has downtown sights like Calgary Tower just down the street. You can even catch a glimpse of downtown Calgary while you’re at the indoor lap pool, with its accompanying hot tub and steam room. In fact, Calgary runs through every part of this hotel, with more than 500 pieces of original Canadian art curated and revealed to travellers to unveil the spirit of the town and nation — and with local flavours on the menu at its Thomsons Restaurant, and seafood at its Catch & the Oyster Bar.

Anniversary trip

The hotel itself is amazing and they had security in the lobby but surrounding area is filled with homeless and addicts. That is the only reason for a 4, nothing to do with the hotel itself, just the company in the vicinity. We let them know it was our anniversary and they surprised us with a dessert! I attended a conference at the hotel. The hotel provided meals and snacks including limitless beverages. The staff were conscientious in meeting the needs of the participants. Overall I found the staff very professional, the service excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel for future conferences.
Loud downtown location with nice features

The hotel itself is excellent, but future guests should be aware of the downtown noise levels.
Even from a high-floor room, you can clearly hear street noise, the C-Train, and live music/activity coming from 8th Ave. I’m writing this review at 1 AM on a Wednesday, and it’s still quite noticeable to keep me awake. This isn’t really the hotel’s…

Even from a high-floor room, you can clearly hear street noise, the C-Train, and live music/activity coming from 8th Ave. I’m writing this review at 1 AM on a Wednesday, and it’s still quite noticeable to keep me awake. This isn’t really the hotel’s fault, but it’s something light sleepers should absolutely know before booking.
That said, there were some standout positives:
Shower water pressure: 10/10
Comfortable bed and pillows
Pool facilities included a hot tub, and a rare hotel feature: a steam room (personally my favourite part)
If quiet sleep is a priority, remember earplugs or this might not be the place for you.

I had a flawless stay at this hotel. I loved the spaciousness and thoughtful design of the room. Everything felt new and spotless. Amenities were great, too. It was an excellent place to stay for a nearby conference. It was also well located in downtown Calgary.
Great spot for a weekend away

Great location, great service at a Calgary landmark. We loved the bartender at Thompsons, the pool and steam room! We really enjoyed the easy access to Stephen ave and the local scene
