The hotel

Mixing an intimate feel with a super-central spot in upmarket Coconut Grove, and the uber-cool styling you’d expect from a Miami hotel, The Mayfair has it all. In fact you don’t even need to venture out — the Miami scene comes to you, with the hotel’s Above Mayfair rooftop pool lounge featuring weekly ‘Sunset of Miami’ pool parties, Friday night happy hours, resident DJs, a curved Gaudi-esque seating wall complete with fireplace, a casual food menu, and custom cocktails. The rooftop is the hub of the action by day too, with its heated swimming pool and views over Miami and Biscayne Bay. Downstairs holds its own treasures though, with the Spartico trattoria’s authentic Italian dishes cooked up in an authentic Ambrogi oven, and the Jurlique Spa’s organic products.

Where is it

In the heart of upscale Coconut Grove, a district famous for its al fresco café culture, high-energy nightlife and shopping, it’s just moments from CocoWalk’s dining and entertainment, and 10-minute walk from Biscayne Bay, home to white sands, seafood and sailing. The hotel’s 15 minutes from downtown Miami and 20 minutes from South Beach. Driving time from Miami International Airport: 30 minutes.

The staff is mostly terrific and that is likely a reason why this hotel has high marks. Alejandro at the front desk and Jennifer in the morning restaurant are excellent. The rooms themselves were a bit dated. Very dark and need of refreshing. One of our rooms had a bit of a mildew smell. I heard from another guest their room was nicer, so… Read more

The rooms themselves were a bit dated. Very dark and need of refreshing. One of our rooms had a bit of a mildew smell. I heard from another guest their room was nicer, so perhaps they are in process. The roof top is nice but on the small side. Also, the restaurant boasts "free breakfast" when booking. Unfortunately, when you arrive you discover a very limited menu with basic items such as eggs an additional material cost. Expect some average granola and drip coffee and you will not be disappointed. I addressed some of these concerns with management (Gregory - food and beverage) ) and they appeared to have zero interest or authority in addressing concerns. It is a competitive market in Coconut Grove and I will look elsewhere on my next trip (University of Miami parents). Read less

Top tier stay in perfect location, professional and accommodating to the very end and Fabian even helped with my suit cases to the car. I will be coming back next time I’m in Coconut Grove.
