The hotel

Tucked away in a quiet residential area, the Mondrian South Beach offers the perfect mix of home-like comfort and luxurious hotel service. This all-suite hotel is a stunning example of Modernist architecture, with interiors designed by the bold and innovative Marcel Wanders. The post-Minimalist style features a sophisticated palette of gold, black, and white, with an emphasis on sensual comfort both indoors and out. The pool area is a showstopper, surrounded by sun-soaked lounge pillows and winding pathways that lead to hidden seating areas. With views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, the scene feels like it’s straight out of CSI Miami. And because the hotel faces west, you’ll enjoy spectacular sunsets—best savored with a mojito from the bayside or private rooftop bar.

This visit started strong with a smooth check in experience featuring glasses of prosecco. The elevator service was quick. The views from both sides of the hotel were great. Our studio suite was large, but the bed was small. There was enough closet space but no drawers, so unpacking was not possible. The room was clean. The bathroom is designed so that the space to put out anything is at the back end of the sink. The shower had a unique combo light fixture/ showerhead. The thermostat had a mind of its own. The temperature was always going too high or too low and forgetting the setting. There is a very nice morning coffee station located near the fitness center. The hotel public areas are lovely. What is not lovely is the lack of service at the Baia pool club. We did get set up with chairs, towels and an umbrella fairly quickly. But after 30 minutes we still did not get the attention of a server. Worse yet, a guest who had been where we were seated accused us of stealing her chair and towel. We got the attendant involved who ultimately moved us to another spot. Eventually another server walked by, but she was more concerned about if we had a reservation than in taking our drink order. We are much older than most of the pool club guests, and the servers flirting with the others and ignoring us was obvious age discrimination. But there was still a 20% service charge added to the bill. Read less

The entire staff was very professional and courteous to us. My wife made a joke about me to Sandra from security when I was asking her a lot of questions about the beach club. She laughed and answered them with no hesitation. Sandra is definitely an asset to your establishment. We will definitely recommend your hotel to our family and friends. Read less
