We stayed for six nights at the Renaissance and couldn’t had been more happier with our choice of hotel. We stayed for six nights at the Renaissance and couldn’t had been more happier with our choice of hotel. Our room, 912, overlooked Seventh Avenue and whilst it’s just a few feet from Times Square you hardly heard a thing. The curtains were great at keeping the light from the billboards out. It was our daughter’s 21st when we arrived and the hotel put a card, balloons, jelly beans and a bottle of Prosecco out for our arrival. A very lovely and special touch. We didn’t eat at the hotel as there are so many other places close by but we did have a drink at the bar. My only complaint was that one of the lifts from the reception to the lounge area was out of action a lot of the time we were there which caused some lengthy waits and on one occasion we had to leave via the stairs after waiting over 15 minutes for a lift from 9th floor to the lounge area one morning and gave up. We will be back to NYC and will stay at the Renaissance again. Read less

I booked this hotel for a business trip so that mistake is on me. This is clearly a tourist hotel. It's a great location for Times Square and Broadway Shows but that's about the only nice thing I can say about this property. The check-in/reception staff are generally rude and clearly are tired of hearing complaints. The bartenders are very nice but acknowledged the limited food selection and said everyone complains but management ignores the concerns. The guest rooms are DATED and the shower is awful and leaks, among other issues. The biggest issue with the hotel is the elevators. I literally had to plan 10-15 minutes just to get out of the building. This morning, I just left rather than deal with breakfast and going back up to my room. I have the Ambassador status which entitled me to a free breakfast. They "accidentally" still charged me but that was quickly resolved. I won't stay here again. Read less

Serial Marriott customer with titanium client, so stayed in quite an array of the various brands over the years. Serial Marriott customer with titanium client, so stayed in quite an array of the various brands over the years. This hotel is mediocre at best, and 4 stars only because of the amenities on paper, don’t expect more than a 3 star experience. Good points: • Service (excluding reception) was good and welcoming • Maid service was great, very friendly and clean • Gym well stocked for a city hotel, and never particularly busy The bad: • Hotel rooms in particular are in serious need of refurb, bathrooms dated rooms tired • Serious noise issues in hotel rooms, you can hear everything in the corridors when people come back late, and a VERY annoying problem with hearing the shower very loudly in the room above, sounds like a truck idling in the room. Very difficult to get a good nights sleep • Staff on reception were a mix of indifferent to pretty rude and unhelpful particularly on check in • The lift situation is annoying – a single working lift to lobby, then another set to guest rooms. Often waiting for 5-10min just to get from ground floor to your room. Over all poor value even for location, there are plenty of better options within a 2 min walk Read less
