Serial Marriott customer with titanium client, so stayed in quite an array of the various brands over the years. This hotel is mediocre at best, and 4 stars only because of the amenities on paper, don’t expect more than a 3 star experience. Good points: • Service (excluding reception) was good and welcoming • Maid service was great, very friendly and clean • Gym well stocked for a city hotel, and never particularly busy The bad: • Hotel rooms in particular are in serious need of refurb, bathrooms dated rooms tired • Serious noise issues in hotel rooms, you can hear everything in the corridors when people come back late, and a VERY annoying problem with hearing the shower very loudly in the room above, sounds like a truck idling in the room. Very difficult to get a good nights sleep • Staff on reception were a mix of indifferent to pretty rude and unhelpful particularly on check in • The lift situation is annoying – a single working lift to lobby, then another set to guest rooms. Often waiting for 5-10min just to get from ground floor to your room. Over all poor value even for location, there are plenty of better options within a 2 min walk Read less

We stayed here for our kids' first trip to NYC over spring break. I love a Marriott property and this did not disappoint. Service, cleanliness, and attention to detail were impeccable. The location is not where I'd normally stay in the city, but since it was my kids' first trip, we wanted to give them the experience. Highly recommend! It's such a great location. Easy to access subway or grab a car. I read some not great reviews on the property regarding the Bow Tie Bar, market, and elevator situation. I want to address those. We only got late night chicken finger takeout from the Bow Tie Bar and it wasn't bad. It was bar food, not a Michelin star restaurant. Food was good if you are expecting it to be what it is. The market was great. I saw people complaining about sandwiches and prices, but it's NYC - things are expensive, especially in times square. They had great coffee and snacks when we needed them. What else can you ask for. As for the elevators, you have to take an elevator up one floor from the ground floor to the bar area and then take another set of elevators up to your room. There are only two elevators from ground to 1st floor and one was out of service, but we never waited more than a few minutes. It was fine. Don't let anyone's bad reviews fool you. And then it's really no big deal to take the other elevators up to your room - I was actually grateful for the extra layer of security that provided. On another note, the beds were SUPER COMFORTABLE! Probably one of the best night's sleeps I've gotten in a hotel bed. And the noise was really not an issue from Times Square. Or the lights - there were blackout curtains. VERY VERY CLEAN. And the hotel staff was amazing - you could tell their number one priority was customer service. Even though I would normally opt for a quieter location, my husband and I are planning to stay here again on an upcoming trip with just the two of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we WILL stay again. Don't listen to any of the bad reviews. This is a fantastic hotel. Read less

The staff were all great. Zaheim that helped with our luggage at check in and check out was great and personable and made sure we got all settled. He was the first employee to greet us when we arrived and is a great first point of contact for the hotel. The only things we weren’t a fan of was the breakfast and the elevator situation was a little annoying, but not a deal breaker. We also barely had any hot water on the last day which was frustrating. But overall, a great hotel and would stay here again. Read less

My wife and I recently went to NYC to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I've travelled to NYC many times over the years and stayed at many different hotels. Our experience at the Times Square Renaissance was one of the best ever! EVERYONE we encountered at the hotel were friendly and helpful; the front door security men, front desk staff, cleaning staff ladies and Market Place guys (who make a delicious cappuccino coffee). Our room was clean, quiet (even though the hotel is in the heart of Times Square), comfortable with a quality king bed and pillows! Read less
