Myself, my wife and our 2 grown up kids stayed in 2 rooms at the beginning of May and we loved this hotel. We were celebrating our kids birthdays and the hotel had placed balloons in their room and a lovely note wishing them a happy birthday which definitely started us off on the right foot. They also gave us an interconnecting room which was so handy plus a bottle of bubbly in my room. The hotel is perfectly placed for everything that you might want to see and do in NYC and although it was just a base for us, it was everything we needed it to be and more. We didn't interact with the staff much as we were so busy but on the occasions we did, they were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I had previously read about the hidden charge for the bottles of water that are left in the room and so we didn't touch them. I can confirm that complimentary (small) bottles of water are given at the front desk as and when requested. I also joined the Marriott Bonvoy membership programme which meant we were able to take advantage of free wifi. We would definitely stay here again. Read less

We just stayed in terrace room 403 for tonight’s and I wouldn’t recommend this room! The terrace area was amazing with fantastic views of Times Square. The room was very spacious and the theaters were easily walkable. HOWEVER, the walls are paper thin and you hear everything that happens in room 404! There is an optional conjoining door that isn’t sound proofed or sealed. Unfortunately the 4 people (I never saw them but I could hear all 4 of their different voices clearly!) played sound music and screamed/yelled at all hours of the day. Our bed was across the room from their shared wall and it was insufferable. You could also hear them in the hallway. I called the front desk at 12:30 am and the music/loudness was dimmed for a few minutes. I was awoken at 7:17 am by screaming by one of the women that she wasn’t drunk 🙄 accompanied by other yelling that she was with loud music in the background. I called the front desk again and security came, knocked on their door and said be quiet and he dipped into the housekeeping door directly across from our door. But guess what? They didn’t care! And for reference sake, they loudly came back to their room Friday night/Sat morning at 4 am and woke us up in the hallway and their room. But we didn’t complain as we hoped it was a one off. In hindsight we should have, but the staff probably wouldn’t have cared then either! We are making an annual trip to NYC for shows but we definitely will NOT be staying here again! Which is sad because otherwise it was a great hotel! Read less

We stayed for six nights at the Renaissance and couldn’t had been more happier with our choice of hotel. We stayed for six nights at the Renaissance and couldn’t had been more happier with our choice of hotel. Our room, 912, overlooked Seventh Avenue and whilst it’s just a few feet from Times Square you hardly heard a thing. The curtains were great at keeping the light from the billboards out. It was our daughter’s 21st when we arrived and the hotel put a card, balloons, jelly beans and a bottle of Prosecco out for our arrival. A very lovely and special touch. We didn’t eat at the hotel as there are so many other places close by but we did have a drink at the bar. My only complaint was that one of the lifts from the reception to the lounge area was out of action a lot of the time we were there which caused some lengthy waits and on one occasion we had to leave via the stairs after waiting over 15 minutes for a lift from 9th floor to the lounge area one morning and gave up. We will be back to NYC and will stay at the Renaissance again. Read less

I booked this hotel for a business trip so that mistake is on me. This is clearly a tourist hotel. It's a great location for Times Square and Broadway Shows but that's about the only nice thing I can say about this property. The check-in/reception staff are generally rude and clearly are tired of hearing complaints. The bartenders are very nice but acknowledged the limited food selection and said everyone complains but management ignores the concerns. The guest rooms are DATED and the shower is awful and leaks, among other issues. The biggest issue with the hotel is the elevators. I literally had to plan 10-15 minutes just to get out of the building. This morning, I just left rather than deal with breakfast and going back up to my room. I have the Ambassador status which entitled me to a free breakfast. They "accidentally" still charged me but that was quickly resolved. I won't stay here again. Read less
