Great location and nice Hotel but very disappointing to be asked at check in if we want a quiet room (yes please) to then be stuck next to a store room that staff went in and out of throughout the night. The door was constantly bashed against the wall, the wall that our beds were up against! Really not great to be woken up by this and hear noise in the early hours of what was supposed to be a holiday. Disturbing our sleep really affects plans for the next day. We paid a good amount of money for a holiday that was negatively affected by the ignorant staff. This was raised at the time and nothing changed, then filled out a comprehensive complaints form and had the response of: “We are sorry to hear that you were disturbed by the noise from the door next to your room. While our staff does their best to ensure that noise is kept to a minimum, sometimes in their daily duties they can unknowingly make more noise than usual. Our staff at the front Desk would have been glad to assist.” Somebody came to our room we told you about the issue and all you can do is email me to say sorry, it’s really not good enough! We pay for a service and expect a good night sleep. Read less

We stayed at this hotel as a family of 6 adults in two rooms. From checking in to checking out it was brilliant. The rooms were fine and spotlessly clean they had everything we needed as they were just used for our shopping, showering, and sleeping !! Location is absolutely super right in Times Square and walking distance to many good tourist attractions and subways. The breakfast is a great touch and sets you up for the day the only thing we would change would be the receptionist letting us know we needed to come down to reception to join the breakfast queue which was on floor 5 !! Loved the outside seating area and reception bar which served nice snacks and drinks too. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Yes, the lifts sometimes took a while but it didn't affect our stay. If we were to ever return we would definitely come back to this hotel and it's highly recommended. They kept our cases to our flight which was late on our last day and still allowed us to use the toilets as there were no rooms for us to pay for due to being fully occupied. Thank you Riu 😊 Read less

So i went to new york on the 4th september on my own. I was supposed to fly with my friend but his ESTA didn’t get approved in time. All ready stressed as it is i arrived to the hotel late at night with a massive sign of relief. this is when it gets bad again, i was all checked in ready to get into my hotel room but because my friend was the first guest on there system they didn’t allow me to check in. The only thing they said we can do is change the name around on the system but we couldn’t do that because you could only change the name 24hours before check in. So even though MY name was on the system and MY name was checked in i wasn’t allowed to stay. So now i had to pay roughly 500 - 600 dollars to stay in another hotel. Oh and i wasn’t allowed to get any sort of refund. It’s a shame because i was already worried being a new york for the first time on my own, so arriving to the hotel was the best thing to happen. Me and my mum stayed here from the 30th August to 4th September. We chose this hotel as it's at the heart of everything New york has to offer, also we had breakfast included in our price many hotels are room only new york. The hotel is based about 100 metres from times square and is within walking distance of many of of new yorks iconic land marks, for example rockfeller center is a 10 minute walk away and grand central station is a 20 minute walk away. The hotel itself is amazing, the staff are warm and inviting and very helpful with any questions you may have. The room was spacious with great views of time square and the room was very clean. We read a lot of reviews about this hotel regarding the queues for breakfast time, breakfast is from 7am to 10am. We were both up early and down to breakfast 5 minutes just after breakfast had opened, and we didn't queue for breakfast during our stay there. But when we were having our breakfast the queue became very big very quickly, I would recommend you got to breakfast 5 or 10 minutes after it opens anything after 7:30 you will be queuing. But everyone was very well organised when it came to breakfast. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to go to New york the first time and wants to get a full tourist experience. I will be using this hotel again in the future. We had an amazing stay at Hotel Riu! The room was spotlessly clean with a lovely, comfortable ambiance. Cleanness was clearly top priority throughout the hotel from the lobby to the dining areas. The staff in every section were incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. Breakfast was another highlight, delicious, well organized and the breakfast staff were attentive and efficient. The only small downside was the wait time for the elevators during breakfast hours ,but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. If I visit New York again I would definitely choose Riu without hesitation. Highly recommended. Read less
