This hotel and the adjoining “State and Grand” condominium units all share the hotel’s indoor pool, fitness center, and rooftop terrace, and the adjoining condominium tenants and their guests have free access to the 17th floor from their own elevators . What this meant to hotel guests on this Saturday afternoon and evening was a five hour full volume pool, terrace and “ hallway party”, which was held right in front of our room’s door, with limited hotel guest access to the pool and deck during this time . The hotel staff said they could do nothing about it because “no laws were being broken” and they have “ no control over the condo”. So, you see there is an absolutely terrible arrangement resulting in a real disregard for the comfort and security of “ temporary” hotel guests in favor of the condo residents . Hotel staff apologized but repeatedly explained there was nothing they could do. They don’t have authority, They also don’t know what to do. It is hard to believe a Royal Sonesta hotel could be run like this. On top of which the gym is open 24/7 and weightlifting /heavy dropping of weights takes place at all hours, making it impossible to sleep well in the rooms next to the gym if its in late night use. Of course condo tenants mostly use the gym which explains their lack of concern or consideration for the hotel guests .
