The hotel

When it comes to ‘you-time’, Sheraton Brooklyn New York covers every kind of pleasure: there’s the fitness centre for the health-conscious; the Starbucks® café for the caffeine-hungry; and the rooftop garden for those in need of fresh air – and the odd cocktail. Sitting among the skyscrapers of Brooklyn, the Asian-infused Kimoto Rooftop & Bar gives a nod to the East in its carefully created bar food, curated craft beers, and concocted cocktails. Throw in views over the buzzing district and towards the Statue of Liberty, and you’ll see why it’s one of the hotel’s most popular meeting spots. In fact, it’s the perfect place to head after a day exploring your neighbourhood, which packs in dining, shopping, and entertainment – much of it just a stroll away at City Point Brooklyn.

Hotel offers decent rates. Also, accessible to restaurants.Location is quiet. Danny at the front desk is friendly. The room was also VERY affordable. $136/night when everything in Manhattan was $400 plus including my go to Sheraton Tribeca. But the reason I could never stay here again. The room runs HOT. Like super hot. And there is no way to fix it. I had the setting to low (63) and it stayed at 77. I opened the window and nothing changed. I couldn’t sleep well at all. Also I found it funny the staff made fun of the Asian restaurant thats connected to the hotel, where breakfast is served. They told someone not to eat there. This must be a family owned and operated hotel but they have to solve their HVAC problem. Read less

On my most recent stay, the club lounge was open and breakfast was provided there. The club lounge breakfast had limited options but the eggs and bacon were filling. During non-breakfast hours the lounge has snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. The lemon cookies are very good. The 2 queen bed suite is large for NYC. The door opens into the living room with a tv and sofa; the bathroom is between the living room and bedrooms. The room was clean but there bathroom needs more towel hooks. Read less

Checkin was quick even tho busy. Room was adequate and lifts were fast, never long to wait as there were 4. We were on 27th floor and ice making machine on 2nd floor, the one closer to our room was out of order the full time we were there 4 nights. Bed was massive and 5 star comfort, a bit high for small person but manageable if fit to jump onto it! No kettle in room, just coffee making machine with no instructions so tough if you drink tea/hot water based drinks. Coffee provided but never enough creamers/uht milk/sugar etc. no biscuits. No fridge to keep cold drinks/juices in. We asked for our bill 2 days before check out and it appeared to have extra charges we were not made aware of but when we asked at reception we did not get a satisfactory explanation and it confused us even more... was as if the reception staff did not know either and just pammed us off with any old excuse. Again at checkout we left lots of extra time to check our bill carefully and what we had been already charged and they assured us we would be fully refunded for any extra charges which were "something to do with security incase of room damages". After days of waiting for our refund and reading other reviews, we tried to ring hotel but got "nowhere". Finally we got speaking to a lovely gentleman called Richard who assured us that we would receive our refund within a few more days and he would deal with it personally which he did and we finally received it about 4 weeks later. We got the feeling that this would not have happened if we had not spoken to Richard. It appeared that other Reception staff were fed up of people asking questions/compaining and were not interested in our concerns, although were aways courteous and polite. Would I go back to this hotel? Yes but I would be better prepared for the hiccups. The comfortable bed was really such a luxury and one was guaranteed a great nights sleep despite the other hiccups! A small fridge and kettle in the room though would make the experience a whole lot better as I have stayed in many other hotels which were a lot less expensive and these were provided as standard room fittings!
