The Edgewater

The hotel

Sitting right on top of Pier 67, this is Seattle's original waterfront hotel and quite the local landmark. It’s always been a quirky and cool spot, since it was built in 1962 — KISS parked their platform boots here and The Beatles once famously fished out of their hotel room window. We don’t recommend that, of course, but you can imagine the playful and chilled vibe that you get at the the Edgewater. Expect quirky, cosy rooms with beautiful views of Elliott Bay, happy hours showcasing amazing house concoctions, and a restaurant serving the freshest organic and local dishes. Take in a bit of live music at the weekend and dine outdoors to make the most of those water views.

First, they messed up when checking in half of our party. No one at the desk checked anyone's ID, causing people to be put into the wrong room. Also, we had two rooms, why on earth were they not even on the same floor? I paid the same amount for 1 room on the 3rd floor with a water view and a first floor room with a parking lot view?!? Also, we had two rooms, why on earth were they not even on the same floor? I paid the same amount for 1 room on the 3rd floor with a water view and a first floor room with a parking lot view?!? Since they put the wrong people in the wrong room at check in, when I went to check in later, I was told that I had already checked in and that my room was taken. IT took them a while to figure out what had happened. Then, whenever we tried to charge things to the room, they had the names of the people in the wrong rooms. Also, I asked for a late check out when we checked in, but we were told if we needed a late checkout, to stop by the desk on the day we planned to check out and ask. So I did exactly that and was told it was not available. No one said anything about first come, first serve and there only being a few rooms allowed a late check out. So we had to check our bags and tip a bell hop more for holding the bags. Now, they're sending me email with the wrong person's name in multiple ways (a different person in our party and they got his name backwards). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would not stay here again. Read less

The location was great. Walked to Pike's Market (~15min). Room was great, love how there is a fire place and balcony. Noise level was medium, you could hear next door neighbors through the walls and definitely from the hallway. Wished they had a microwave in the room. Overall, great place to stay for the value of the room. Will visit again!

The Edgewater is special and the staff knows it. This was a perfect place to stay during a conference at Bell Harbor. Everything was fantastic.

I’ve loved this hotel for years and have recommended it to so many people—it’s always been such a special place with a beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere. This stay had some great highlights, but also a few areas that fell short of what I’ve come to expect, especially for the price. The positives first: the ocean view is absolutely gorgeous, the bed was very comfortable, the fireplace added a cozy touch, and the bathroom was clean and well-maintained. We also appreciated that our room was ready earlier than expected. That said, there were a few things that impacted the overall experience. The windows in our ocean-view room were quite dirty, to the point that we had to step out onto the balcony to fully enjoy the view. The WiFi was very slow and unreliable—we weren’t able to stream consistently, and I couldn’t work during our stay because of it. One of the window shades was completely missing, and the blankets didn’t feel as cozy as they have in the past. We also had a bit of a miscommunication prior to arrival. I had called ahead and was told an upgrade to an ocean-view room with a bathtub could be noted and should be available, but upon arrival that wasn’t the case, and the explanation felt a bit unclear. Lastly, while the property is beautiful, there was a noticeable stagnant odor in the main lobby during our stay. I share this feedback because I truly care about this hotel and have always held it in high regard. I hope to see some of these details addressed, as it really has the potential to deliver an exceptional experience again. Read less
