Spent 3 nights here, staff were so friendly and helpful. We arrived close to midnight and the front desk agent was nice and she explained everything about the hotel. We had a king room union sqare view and it was very nice. You can tell its an old building, but its very modern and updated. Loved the chandelier in the room, big closet, bathroom is a little tight if 2 people were trying to get ready at the same time. We had access to the lounge and it was great, the lounge staff were always greeting us and quick to refill and clean up. We loved the breakfast options, french toast or pancakes, scrambled eggs or fritata, sausage or bacon. Juices, coffee and tea. Plenty of seating. We mostly used uber to get around which was always under 10 mins of a wait. Cable car stop is also by the hotel which was convenient. We also had dinner at the Bourbon Steak Restaurant which is at the hotel and it was nice to just take our time. Restaurant is also amazing! Overall, highly recommend and would stay again. Pretty safe to walk around daytime, but always be cautious around. Read less

From check-in with Elaine - who was super lovely, guiding me through all the perks and benefits which include $10 Uber voucher per day to Jeff at the conceirge who is super great at guiding through what to do / where and helping with just about anything full of energy and consideration great service one comment is that sometimes staff seem to be in the back more than they are front of house, and waiting time can be slow, not sure what they all do in the back for 5-10 minutes and take breaks at same time but it does impact service - just an observation! Hotel has always been a favorite of mine, and one my late grandfather would always choose when on business trips to SF. The room was spacious and nice. Room could use a touch up with paint on the walls trim and areas of the bathroom/bathroom door that had wear n tear and visible damage. But otherwise, simply ideal for me. Will be back. My kids loved it too, esp exploring the hotel grounds, dining at the steakhouse, and everything that makes this place majestic, historical and elegant. Read less

I was at this hotel with a group for the Super Bowl. So as you can imagine, it was incredibly busy with tons of people moving throughout the property all the time. However, even with all the hustle and bustle, Jeff Aquino made it a point of learning my name, offering great service and referring to me by name every time he saw me. This kind of service is incredibly valuable when you can very easily be lost in the crown, and I appreciate Jeff for helping to make this a special stay. Read less
