The Hyatt Delfina is in a good location, close to downtown Santa Monica, and convenient to get to the areas beaches. I stayed at the hotel years ago and had an excellent experience. Since becoming a Hyatt the hotel has undergone some renovations. The bedding, style, and overall ambiance is quite nice. However, when you look closely, they have done a quick and insufficient "update." It actually just makes things look old and dingy when you see piled up and caked on peeling paint, cabinets that are just painted plywood with exposed screws and extra crevices that are not cleaned - left to collect dust and debris which was quite disgusting. Upon check-in I was sent to a room with a dirty bathroom. The hotel moved me rooms promptly which was good. If you are looking for a laid back, nice hotel in the Santa Monica area, this is good. However, if you are expecting the attention to detail and cleanliness of a 4 star Hyatt, this hotel doesn't come close to meeting your expectations which is something to consider given the price point. Very nice hotel with modern decor. Room was lovely. Staff are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. Made use of the complimentary bikes. A few blocks from the beach but walkable. Only negative was unexpected resort charge of $40 a night.

Great location - walkable to beach and pier restaurants. Would have given it a 5 but one of the elevators was out of service for most of our stay. Valet was quick, staff was friendly and attentive - special shout out to Anna at check in, Zara in the restaurant, and Jimmy and Hugo in the concierge department. Would stay here again.
