The hotel

There’s something special about staying in a family run resort. It adds an air of authenticity, a warmer kind of welcome, and little extras which bigger hotels might just forget about. That’s what you get with True Blue Bay Boutique Resort. The owners know just what you need for a stay on this south coast bay, and they include family musts like a kids' playground and activities, local touches like rum and chocolate tasting, and free treats like Hobie cats, ocean kayaks and yoga classes. They even run a complimentary shuttle to Grand Anse Beach, and BBC Beach in Morne Rouge. Designing the hotel themselves, the Fielden family have added Caribbean touches throughout the resort, as well as those things you’d only expect from a big-name hotel; including four pools, a spa, a boutique, fresh bakery, escape room game, and a PADI-certified dive centre.

Only plus was the bed was comfortable. Toilet facilities by the restaurant were quite awful with a pedal to operate water to wash hands. Don’t look up as you’re being watched by cockroaches. The poolside bar doesn’t open until 11 and the main bar, which is at the restaurant, not until 12. So if you want a drink “theres tap water in your room” my husband was told! The ‘beach’ pool was closed for the 3 days we were there. They taped it off while we were lying on a lounger! There’s 1 restaurant where the food is quite poor. Poorly on day 2 so no food, and no food the next evening due to rats in and around the kitchen and breakfast area. Where they prep and serve from. We were thankfully moved on day 4 after speaking to them directly to discuss our options. The cooking classes, chocolate tour and rum tasting as advertised as included, do not happen and haven’t since COVID! My honest advice is don’t stay here until their major problems are sorted. We have also received compensation from the tour operator regarding all of the above. Read less

The yoga retreat is wonderful a must visit. The Wednesday night we went to both weeks good fun, good selection of food and music was good. The location for us was perfect and peaceful and less than 10 minute walk from container park. We were very sad to leave and say goodbye to the hotel so much so the day we came home we have rebooked for Feb 27 for two weeks can’t wait to revisit. Thank you for an amazing stay see you in 2027. We had previously stayed at a high-end hotel on Grand Anse Beach but wanted a non-AI, somewhat lower-priced location for our three nights. True Blue was a successful choice. The accommodation is very clean and spacious. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. We arrived on Wednesday evening - a hugely busy night there as they have a street vendors food party night - we perhaps would have welcomed something more relaxing after flying long-haul from the UK but it was a lot of fun. The Dodgy Dock Restaurant and Bar is a very enjoyable place to hang out. Our only 'complaint' would be that the poolside sun loungers are really not comfortable. Read less

I recently stayed here and couldn’t be more impressed. From the moment I checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The room was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. What really stood out was how the team handled an unexpected situation — my flight was canceled due to a major NYC blizzard, and I needed to extend my stay last minute. Without any hassle, the staff accommodated the extension warmly and made sure I had everything I needed while I was stranded. That kind of flexibility and genuine care is rare, and it made a stressful situation so much easier to deal with. The cleanliness throughout the property was exceptional — common areas, hallways, and my room were all immaculate. But honestly, it’s the people here that make this place special. Every interaction felt personal and attentive. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. I’ll absolutely be back. Simone Lambert Read less

I recently stayed at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort, and unfortunately the experience did not justify the cost. Check-in was fine, though no assistance was offered with luggage. My waterfront room was clean and felt safe, but the bed was extremely hard. Also, be aware that these rooms sit directly above the restaurant and bar — there was music until around 2am, followed by staff using blowers around 6am. If you’re looking for rest and quiet, avoid the waterfront category. I was fine but just knowledge for others The biggest disappointment was the on-site restaurant, Dodgy Dock Restaurant & Lounge Bar. I had both lunch and dinner there and found the food incredibly bland and largely inedible. Service was also very poor. I had to get up and find someone to place my order and request drink refills. Unfortunately, it was primarily the female staff members who interacted with me in a way that felt dismissive and inconvenienced, which created an unwelcoming atmosphere. After two meals, I chose to dine off property for the remainder of my stay. I will add this was not peak season(February and the # of guests was less than half) There is one pool bar, but it doesn’t open until 11am (if you’re lucky) — on a couple of days it was after 12pm and most of the time the person running the bar was absent. Drinks are priced as expected for a resort. Overall, the service did not align with the price point, and I would not return. Read less
