Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf

San Francisco, California

Star rating

The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

Excellent location within walking distance to cable cars, Pier39, Alcatraz cruise, Ghirardelli Square, and great restaurants along Fisherman’s Wharf. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. Room was very clean and up to date and the entire facility is very nicely maintained. Would highly recommend!

We had the most amazing holiday staying at the Argonaut. We were greeted by Luiz who checked us in and explained everything we needed to know. Our room was lovely, lots of space and a super comfy bed. The hotel had left a message and a bottle of wine as it was our wedding anniversary. We hadn’t expected it but it was a lovely surprise as was the view from our room 416. We could see the world famous Buena Vista bar to our left, the cable car turning point in front of us and the Golden Gate Bridge to our right. The location is ideal. Steps away from the sandy cove and swimming club and a stroll along the promenade to pier 39. The hotel food was wonderful. We had continental breakfast but upgraded a few times as the food looked so good. We also ate in the hotel on a couple of occasions in the evening and wasn’t disappointed. Their chowder was better than all the other places we had tried. Overall the hotel has a warm relaxed vibe with plenty of break out areas to relax and unwind. The staff couldn’t do enough and we will definitely be coming back. Read less

This hotel is a true gem. Spotless rooms and great service all around. Ideal location near Ghiradelli and a space with great ambiance. Everyone goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and not just another number. This is my "go-to" hotel destination every time I'm in SF and I travel a lot as a consultant.
