The hotel

Set in seven leafy acres, and with a 50-year tradition of serving guests, The Garland is relaxing, family friendly, and doesn’t skimp on style. Take in its relaxed retro vibe and comfy style. Eating at the restaurant here is, as they say, like an evening at an old friend's house. Request a table out on the deck for dining amongst the trees and plants, catch up over a drink in a cosy booth in the lounge or grab a seat at the bar. Check out the weekly programme of activities too — you could join a guided walk, watch a film by the pool or enjoy some complimentary wine tasting. All this, just minutes from LA’s hotspots. As a Preferred Hotel Partner of Universal Studios Hollywood℠, you’re just a free shuttle ride from the parks, so don't forget to purchase your park tickets too for the ride(s) of your life!

The Garland is super close to Universal and the free hourly shuttle is a lifesaver, just a 10-minute ride. Rating it a solid 3.5 out of 5. The rooms are decent but honestly gave me total dorm vibes since the layout has tons of buildings and rooms. The on-site restaurant is actually fire, both the breakfast buffet and a la carte items hit the spot,… Read more

The rooms are decent but honestly gave me total dorm vibes since the layout has tons of buildings and rooms. The on-site restaurant is actually fire, both the breakfast buffet and a la carte items hit the spot, though service was slow as molasses. The pool and hot tub area has great night vibes and the water is squeaky clean. Read less

The Garland (ne Beverly Garland) hotel is a fun trip back to classic Hollywood glamor. It combines fun retro decor with tip flight amenities and first class service. Add a fun bar, great breakfast, and a convenient location at a fair price and you have a big win. We’ll definitely stay there on our next trip to LA.

Immediately after arriving, we were asked if anything further was required in our room. The hotel bar was lovely, the food was fantastic, the swimming pool was lovely. We arranged lots of of trips courtesy of Jessica in the shop situated in the hotel. Jessica is an absolute diamond and is such an asset to the hotel. She helped myself and my husband plan our time effectively whilst in LA and provided us with lots of tips and insights. Nothing seemed too much trouble and she was unbelievably helpful. a huge thank you Jessica! To the Garland; thank you for making my birthday and our wedding anniversary special. We loved our stay with you! Read less

We enjoyed this hotel albeit a couple of things soured the feeling. Firstly the hotel is lovely to look at. Nice vibe about the place. Majority of the staff are lovely and can't do enough for you. The restaurant is really nice and would recommend eating there. When you check in and you are due hotel credit ( we were due 150 dollars of credit but forgot) make sure you ask as we weren't given it. After a long time travelling we simply forgot, it would've been nice if they reminded us, especially after spending a lot of money at the hotel. The rooms are nice and cleaned every day. Our room had a problem with the balcony door and the shower. Someone fixed the balcony door within minutes of us telling them. Unfortunately the shower area was still leaking for the duration of the trip. The motorway noise from the room was quite loud but it didn't detract from the stay. The shuttle to Universal was really good and appreciated. Would I stay here again, it's just a maybe. On the whole it's decent but perhaps there are better hotels for the same money we paid. Read less
