Breakfast was worse than a university cafeteria, the staff only engaged when we initiated conversation. This was completely opposite from our experience everywhere else in SA, which was perfect in every way.
We did write to the General Manager with these comments, not even the courtesy to follow up which is was I'm sharing this on a public forum.
As already stated great location but I'm sorry to say that interior designers need to make sure experienced operators takeover when they leave and not leave it to instagram to show pretty pictures only.

Great little hotel, very central, with wonderful staff and good breakfasts

Stayed at Oude Werf for 2 nights during our recent SA trip.
We wanted to see Stellenbosch having only ever driven through and wanted somewhere central. Oude Werf could not be more central.
It's a great little hotel with wonderful staff and good breakfasts.
Highly recommended.

We LOVE the outside dining area with the water feature and the shade from the historic vine, especially for breakfast - the best possible way to wake up. Dinner there is also ideal, not to mention a drink in the beautiful bar beforehand. It was my 80th birthday and the staff went out of their way to make it special, not to mention the guests who anonymously paid for our supper and the couple who paid for our drinks!! The hotel seems to create that sort of magic vibe.
